Dreamworld's new attraction is made official
Slick replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
So where did you get that media release? And is there any other bits of artwork? -
Okay, the story of Reptar..... It was 6:00am or so on Wednesday morning during the holidays and they were doing the Reptar testing while they were doing work in Nick Central using a Cherry Picker. Well as the report showed, Dreamworld DOES NOT check the track before opening and today wasn't different. So as it swooped down after completing the first 360 degrees of the 400 something degree circle the front seats collided with the cherry picker and the front seats were obliviated and the cherry picker had just over 300k's worth of damage. Coates Hire, who owned the Cherry Picker, pulled out the Cherry Picker that day and told the media that they were not doing any construction work with Maqcuarie every again. This was dreadful news for Maqcuarie as Coates Hire supplied all cranes for their Industrial work. But I guess it's alright, they have now signed a contract with SkyReach, which is actually a bigger crane supplier than Coates Hire, and now I'll be able to get all the dirt on the theme parks even before it comes into fruitition. That's how I picked out the news with how Dreamworld withdrew that 15 mil. loan. And what I mean by an e-ticket attraction (I think) was that The Claw will actually be a distraction for something much, much bigger. Think TOT big as some very expensive booms have been ordered. Nice.

Before we start, I just want to say that while they have made media releases on what I am about to say, this should still be kept only on these forums. Reptar- Well after that cherry picker that hit it that wednesday morning (or it hit it), the front carriage has now been removed, and now they are forced to always have people on it while its moving, so, when they test Reptar every morning, they have at least 40 bags of potting mix sitting in the station  , that's just disgraceful, plus they've replaced the Vekoma plaque with the TV! Thunderbolt- no, i'm not talking about the actual coaster, but i've been able to go through the station and they now have the seats and other parts and they are all sitting there, in the station, plus, the hydraulics are sitting under mesh under the Cyclone and some of the platforms etc. are sitting with the the old seating and stuff under that building near the ThunderBolt station. Plus the themeing has been confirmed for the Claw, and apparently looks excellent from what I've been told by Mark one of the admin. at Dreamworld. More information about the theming will be apparently released during August. And as I found out, The Claw could be an E-ticket attraction, but I can't say too much about future attractions that cost 15 mil. plus Cyclone is just plane crap. Simple. The old paint from LPS is coming through, everything is fading, from track to themeing, and well, the is just to much headbanging on the OTSRs. Tower Of Terror is starting to get a bit rough from the rear of the pod, plus some of the bushes on the way down the track are getting really close, which is not a good thing at 130 kilometres half way down and that it no longer even reaches the point its not supposed to (see in photo). WipeOut, is well, WipeOut, and everything doesn't work. All well, so you again next week Dreamworld......

Nice, good to see progress.

Actually I don't know about that being sure as a representative from SkyReach has informed me that Dreamworld has taken out a big loan (figures starting from 12 mil. onwards apparently) and are signing new deals about the future of the park. If you have a look at rides overseas similar to the one that we have at Dreamworld, we are having a lot of BIG AND TALL ideas coming into the light and plus the BB site is looking like it will be a very hot spot for new attractions over the coming years. I guess i can't hand you a neat little package about what's happening, but now that Coates Hire are never touching Macquarie ever again, I will be able to get alot more information before the media even touches it (THANK YOU REPTAR!)

To be true indeed. One of the only reasons why I went was because of he fact that I had a day free in Auckland so i thought I better check out what's there.
-
All that i'm doing is adjusting to the theme already. Of course there are better things than the whole evactuation thing but Dreamworld chose what they wanted and now they're going to stick to it.
-
Oh well, we people who never have been there have.
-
Well i'm not sure how much the glass would like getting the force of the Tower Of Terror being placed against them as the speed to shatter them, unless it was plexiglass, but then you can't see as much on launch. I think keep it they way it is, and just mod the hell out of it. I'd have to say that when it comes to upgrading and making things look pretty, I may have a lot more experience, especially when my dad was an architect and I am going out tomorrow to do some more modding to my already beast computer. It's what I do. And plus, who would vandalise a security camera? The person who was operating them would instantly see the person's face and can apprehend them on the way up. And i'm definitely sure there were numerous amount of reasons why Dreamworld placed the TOT head and entrance where it is. While it was done as a rush rush thing because of Nick Central etc., it doesn't mean the whole thing was a stupid idea. I was also thinking that with the entrance of the TOT via Tiger Island (the little white bridge part), that could be widened signifgantly by moving the disable ramp to the TI cafe either behind the cafe or the other end where it would fit and would be in a more appropriate position in regards to crowd control. Whoa! New idea! The entrance could be redone. From the exit of the shop, place the entrance next to that. At that point the queue line heds straight down into a flight of stairs into an underground walkway filled with that death fealling and at the end stop up groups of people and have a plasma screen similar to what Tomb Raider's did and tell what's happening in regards to the story line. You know, u could already use the current one, and have an animation of the TOT skull giving the exact same message that is already given in queue.... "this tunnel conatains toxic wated and is contaminated". From there, the people are then given the word by the skull on the plasma screen to move into the next room which is actually another flight of stares leading into the TOT skull entrance, from there, you would enter into the normal queue line and adapt more themeing into what already is there. Look, my head is throbbing at the moment, so, if you would like to wait until next saturday I will give a full detailed guide to my ideas. I think that if i can express moreso on what i'm trying to tell you guys you'd get my picture perfectly. Trust me, something like this can definitely be pulled of well. Disney Well.

To true. But to keep to the name, we'll now call it "Mutant monster with bicyle wheel instead of claw arm" , you know, to keep it as simple as possible
-
Using your own hand, make a claw. If you've done it right, there should be this long part called an arm and then your fingers should be in a rounded claw like way. That's how you get a claw? Now apply that similar look to a ride. Looks about right to me.

*Makes wipping noise* Whatcshhhh, try your like with that one.

And to think I sterred this pot.

Pandora, did you ever work at Dreamworld or any of the major parks? If so, would you be interested in shedding a light of where you work, that is, if it's some kind of ride-op job or something.....
-
To answer Pandora, I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to by that, what love to hear more. And when you refer to the park function, are you reffering to the backup engine at the end of the station which is used to manually park the car in the instance of an e-brake occuring and the pod rolling back out? Man they're fun, especially slowly rolling out of the station while the ride-ops are panacking, hehe, plus that it is quite different to see the emergency lights go on in the tunnel, now that's something.
-
But you don't need soundproofing for the TOT, the main take-off (0-100) takes place inside the tunnel, and plus the noise is very plesent as it heads up the slope. Infact, the only people who don't enjoy the noise sometimes is the ride-ops who are doing GD.

I think you're on the ball there Paul. But I don't think anyone understands. I have been reading everything Wonderland in these forums since last year when I joined, and I just don't get that why not expand ING's ventures into the amusment park industry? The reason why Wonderland really went up for sale, is because Sunway saw that the land was worth heaps really. And if wasn't due to bad profits (apart from the fact that they haven't added anything for...... something like 4 years) they MIGHT'VE actually survived and thrive as Sydney's only THEME PARK.
-
Way kewl! I wonder what the code is for a tiger loose at Dreamworld... "tiger 4 nick central, rush" I guess i'll leave the rest up to the imigination.... hehehe...... The new movie at the IMAX theatre.... How Dreamworld lost three kids while trapped in the WILD thornberries... hehehe...... "Throwing the balls will only aggrevate it son, just pretend you're dieing until the poisin darts kick in...." Whoa, did this make any sense, MAN I'M TIRED!
-
You're a funny "dolt". Anyway, why not have a company, which has a lot of capital to spend, revamp the whole park? We all know the reason why Wonderland Sydney was eventually closed was because of virtually no capital being spent. It would be a great idea to expand on a park such as Wonderland, because it is really the only "great" park in NSW that can expand, most probably because it has over 100 more acres or whatever the number was, which is a great area do deal up some more wild cards, you know, a new "teen market thrill ride". Look, it's getting late, and i'm watching South Park on the other PC, so cya tomorrow guys.
-
Why not revamp Wonderland syndey? Why not insetad of zoning it off as industrial area, re-invent the idea of a next generation sydney theme park? Invest in on making the rest of the unused land a new area. Maybe I've missed something but they could actually use the land for, well, amusment.
-
Also, just after reading your update I thought that "Part A joins Part B" thing was hilarious. I'm already presuming that those steel "ripple-like parts that come off the main four pylons will be for the ladder, you know, thought i'd say that, you know, for no reason. One thing I would also think would be interesting is whether or not they place "The Claw" or something on the top of the tower like what they did at Thorpe park with "maelstrom"!
-
Oooohhh thanks rabid, you're my saviour! Everybody was giving me the shifty eyes, and that was the people on the bus! Either that or I creeped them out because i did the "fryzie happy dance", TWICE! Man, sitting at coomera railway station can get boring!

Yes, the Coca Cola Corkscrew Coaster (now to be known as CCCC) was the same model as the one at SeaWorld, which is very commonly known as an Arrow Corkscrew rollercoaster Standard issue, as such. Unfortunately i wan't able to take a camera either due to the high crime rate, you'd now if you have past heritage in NZ. But the park is very, very clean but lacks that certain flare like Dreamworld does. With Dreamworld, you can walk down the pathway and find Kenny Koala, and even Goldie the Clown just riding around. And as you sit down for a drink you hear the awe inspiring thunder of the TOT and the magnet noise of the GD. (mmmmmmmweeeeeooooohhhhhh!) I could keep going on, but i'd only be amusing myself and my BB pencil case i bought the other day at DW..... Anyway, Fear Fall wasn't all that good really, the only great part about the ride was that the engines were absolutely silent whereas unlike GD, you can't hear the engine gearing up for dispacth at the top of the tower. Plus it only goes 85km/ph, not that fast for someone who went to DW a week before, hehe. But all in all it was quite funny to hear people's remarks about Fear Fall, there were remarks like "that tower is so huge, i can't beleive you dragged me into this ben!" And simply, the answer they got back was "well you should be thankful, the one back at home is over 4 times taller. How much would you enjoy 120 metres instead huh? And instead of waiting at the top of the tower for only 3 seconds, how about 40 seconds?" Ooohh just a quick note, with the new type of Intamin freefall, th ride-op can now calibrate how much time riders are spending at the top of the tower, sweeet.
-
Very true. BigMal, have you ever operated TOT, and were you a level 3 op and honestly if i can ask, what is your first name, you may have heard rumours about me with the rest of the well-known ops like Anthony (level 3).

No you're actually right. LIM is just the overall term really for this type of rollercoaster induction. It really is LSM, which stands for Linear Synchronis Magnet technology. If anyone has seen Thrill Rides 2003 part 1, you'd completely understand, and for those of you that haven't, you can download it at www.coasterforce.com . Linear Induction Motors is really more like Hulk at IOA for example. Using friction wheels (and over 100 motors also ) The train gets directly pushed up the ramp, whereas LSM harnesses the propulsion system of magents. If anyone wants a in depth review of what exactly every single bit of the TOT does (including the two desks) please just ask.
