It's the epitome of not telling your client no when they suggest a shit idea and clipping the ticket anyway. -

I presume so and I agree with that sentiment too - it's pretty drab, as is Wet 'n' Wild's entrance from the highway. -

My hope is that stuff like the golden Bugs Bunny drills home the message that all of our parks should be constantly striving to improve and look after everything over time, and not just replacing stuff when it breaks. As an example of this would be Disneyland's facades - back when the park first opened they were nice but no where near as nice as they are today. Little improvements over time all add up to become greater than the sum of the parts. Can you imagine if their team got together once a quarter and went "okay, what's a way that's going to improve something that won't drive gate directly but will make this place keep being better?" -

I really, really dig the gold Bugs Bunny, so much so that I almost reckon it should be permanent. -
Sega World making a return to Australia?!

I haven't been to Joypolis in Daiba for a hot minute but it was pretty awesome. I'm inclined to say it was aimed at young adults just as much as kids which is why it's been successful for so long. -

It seems like the dumbest coaster ever. They went to replace a shot tower, so they spent millions on a ride that’s shorter and arguably worse. 🤷🏼♂️ -
Rocky Hollow Log Ride Demolition - Dreamworld
Slick replied to mssveattck's topic in Theme Park Discussion
LEGO is a AAA+ rated brand, it's the world's most valuable toy brand and is worth twice as much as Dreamworks Animations. LEGO's a slam dunk, especially when you consider that Dreamworks' most popular IP's have gone to Disney (Ice Age) or to Universal/Comcast (everything else) and they've only made passable (75%ish rotten tomatoes rated) films since the Universal buyout in 2016. The real question will be if LEGO wants to jump onboard (and if Merlin wants in) - if memory serves, LEGO/Merlin haven't done an installation an existing theme park, instead opting in for complete buyouts (Cypress Gardens) or from scratch builds (LegoLand NYE/Nagoya). -

It's a nice meet and great space until you realise that every photo taken there will have a dilapidated thatched roof in it. -
Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021
Slick replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I produced this clip back in 2019: https://m.facebook.com/watch/?v=551686829004471&_rdr Originally the clip was going to have a lot of cool callbacks to past vision of the park I sourced and link it back to a present day celebration of sorts. What I had learnt in the edit was that it really quickly turned into a just a video showing off how much stuff used to be there at the park and how much wasn't there anymore. Anticipating what the comment section would likely look like (not to mention the posts on here) ultimately meant the edit was abandoned and I ended up going with a purely present-day focussed clip. I'll say this to the fine folks who want to buy rusted up koalas or want to build shrines in parks about yesteryear - they only work if you're coming from a place of high. That is to say, history is great if the messaging is "look at how much we've grown and how good things are now and look at our humble beginnings you remember" not "remember all the rides we closed that aren't replaced yet? Here, sit in a carriage and pretend you were having that experience instead." Here's hoping Dreamworld can become the former and not stay stuck in the latter for too much longer. -
I think that bloke's been trying to sell it for a while - the price is pretty ludicrous (2k) if you ask me. Granted it's not 40 year old Koala "needs a GoFundme and national coverage" expensive, but still pretty bad.

Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021
Slick replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Tower of Terror once had a zone outside. Sky Voyager also had a zone at one point but was phased out when I redid all of the content. From memory Corroboree has three. ICP also has its own AV. Point is, putting in additional zones is pretty cheap compared to most AV costs, the real question is why. -

There are way, way more zones in the park then that. Rides like Sky Voyager have their own zone. -
So hang on, is Madagascar the only open coaster right now?

You're welcome mate! Good hearty discussion is what we're all about and the best way for everyone to join in on the chat (especially those new to the site) is to make insight accessible instead of gatekeeping ideas, rumours etc. etc.

Ahh great question - the original brief was: Filler flat thrill ride to increase quantity of rides/experiences throughout the guest's day Something different to neighbouring parks Good capacity to keep up with the rest of the park's demand Compact Back then when Doomsday opened, the Mavericks/WB Exhibit building was (and is) still a big question mark sitting in the middle of the park. I'd address that building and its use in advance and plan accordingly. If the space will serve as the entrance to a wild west themed dark ride that's housed inside that building as well as a flat ride, than a Zamperla Super Air Race fits the bill perfectly. It's compact, good capacity, a thrilling flat ride and it's got a competitive advantage over Pandamonium in that the central mast moves up and down. Given the space is land-locked by two show buildings there'll be a real sense of speed when those things whip around inside the space. If the entrance to the Mavericks/WB Exhibit dark ride is going over to Arkham's side, then you have more room to play, and I think more room to go balls deep with something folks have never seen before. Let's be honest, mostly everything has been done, seen and installed at this point so you want to capture folk's imagination like Wipeout did back in the 90's. Therefore, i'd risk it for the biscuit and go to Mondial to build either an Airstrike or an Avalanche. My money's on the Avalanche though, high capacity, completely batshit insane and unlike anything really anywhere else in the world, and is visually mental enough that word of mouth would be the marketing campaign, much like Rivals.

I couldn't agree more. It's a real contradiction - it's easily one of if not the most beautifully themed places in the park and yet what's there is really lacklustre at best. The Kinects/screens have aged horribly (not to mention being incredibly unintuitive to buy/use) and the hero-ride of the area is an over-engineered pirate ship.

Rocky Hollow Log Ride Demolition - Dreamworld

All that'll remain in terms of untouched opening day stuff will be a bunch of facades. -
I think Doomsday has given up on Doomsday.

Yeah love this. 🍻

Honestly a Madhouse would be right at home in the castle at Sea World. I really dig those suspended ETF ride systems purely because of the ability to go from ride in a box to coming outside and adding kinetic energy to a greater themed space.

Re-posting and tweaking this post from another thread because I stand by this idea and I reckon it's boss. Mad Max themed land. Vekoma Mad-house where the WB Exhibit is now. Entrance to the east facing current Arkham station OR an ETF dark ride system that uses the Mavericks/WB Exhibit building as a station/dark-ride section that then swings out into a Mad Max themed courtyard. Vekoma flyer that makes use of the space from Superman Escape's helixes right up to the current maze buildings. Mad Max themed bar and events space that doubles as an exit pathway, observation platform (think light-house type outpost themed to Mad Max) and merch space for the ride itself. Mack Twist 'n' Splash or Drunken Barrels (or hell, any half decent flat ride that would do well on a hot summer day) to tie the space in between current Arkham courtyard and the interconnect from the Mad Max area to WWF. This combo of attractions would make great use of the land, avoids overlap with existing attractions in Australia and has clearly defined marketable advantages (country's first flying coaster, total novelty factor etc.) Advantages of a Mad Max themed land: There's a new Mad Max movie. The theme is pretty iconic and timeless at this point. It's basically an abandoned, rustic theme, so it's not crazy expensive to do well It's Aussie AF and appeals to the same demo that Hollywood Stunt Driver does The transitions between other precincts themed lands is a piece of cake - it's an easy transition to WWF, and the transitions between Superman and Main Street are basically more of what used to be there with the China Town Alley-way. If you put an RMC Hybrid between West and Mad Max it'd fit theming wise for both and blur the transition between the lands. You're welcome Village. 🍻 Second update: have added inspo pictures because why not. How sick would it be walking into the former Arkham Asylum precinct styled into a dry Sydney Harbour, complete with broken harbour bridge, faux skyline facades, beautiful chandalier interiors with old Victorian-style glasshouses melded into the sand rockery and a ton of cool outposts and makeshift vehicles thrown into the mix.

This is pretty outdated thinking now. Ever since the Aussie dollar began to slack, B&M's overall pricing has been pretty relative to other manufacturers. However we don't have the same capacity and service requirements as other countries do, which renders a lot of their portfolio overkill to our market's needs. TLDR; why spend more on 4-across trains when you can have a non-inverting loop?
