  1. If guest read the signs outside rides, i will use Demon as an example, you will see that it speciffically states that cameras are not permitted on the ride. As for it coming back on the operator, there is only so much they can do, while i worked on SP i would have guests on cabin 2 who did not appear to have any loose articles with them when i checked the harnesses, but when i got around to the op panel and looked at the camera that faces C2 i would see that they had pulled a camera out of their pocket. I then had to go and get the guest to leave the camera in the launch area. How are operators supposed to stop that happening? ~Former
  2. I would love to tell everyone my name, however i do know that WS management read forums like this and if i did reveal my true identity it would leed to some ass kicking of current staff whom i still have close contact with, and who also provide me with my VERY reliable information. ~Former
  3. One thing i have noticed about people (guests) coming into theme parks (not just WS but all theme parks i have been to) is that there seems to be a sign out the front that staff cannot see but guests read and it says "Leave brain outside before entering". Obviously Flea has seen this sign if he thinks that taking a camera on a ride is safer than leaving it in the station or launch pad. If a someone steps on your camera or any other belongings it is because you havent put them in a place out of the way. Sometimes when a a riders get caught up in the excitment of going on a ride and forget that they have something in their hand and the next thing you know a camera just hit the roof or the footpath outside at 120Km/h, sooner or later someone is gonig to get hit, as i said before think not only of your safety but of the other people around as well. As for theft, i know that it does happen but for rides like SP there is a confined space not open to the outside to put your belongings. Also the ride takes approx 45 sec from start to finish so the chances of your belongings being stolen are very slim. When i worked at WS i was constantly taking coins of people because they would try to put it on their leg to see what happened when they dropped. The reason was because a coin is very small and could land anywhere and people underneath the ride mey not see it until it hits them. ~Former
  4. My information about what is happening at the beach comes from several reliable sources, namely maintance personel, ride operators, and operations management and supervisors. What area does your management contact work in? ~Former
  5. north are you an employee or former employee? What incidents do you know of? Yes there was a stabbing in the carpark but did not result in a death. ~ Former
  6. Sorry to dissapoint everyone but the beach is not getting a new slide or pool, the tower is getting refurbished after years of chlorinated water going over it. ~ Former
  7. Sometimes ride maintance cannot wait for the holidays to finish. In regards to the sign being out the front of the ride if it is closed for a hour or so is incorrect, the ride operator will stand out the front telling guests that the ride is currently closed and should reopen soon. WS has a policy of not telling guests time frames because another problem may arrise and delay the ride opening. If guests are told "come back in 15 min and it will be open" and a guest comes back 20 min later and the ride is not open guests will complain, not something management likes. I noticed on another subject someone saying that SP was noise and then stopped at the top, and the guests were asked to be test riders, i can tell everyone that whoeversaid that (im too lazy to go and find out) is full is *#@%. WS will NEVER have any one go on the ride to test it, this goes for not just guests but staff as well. ~ Former
  8. Hey Flea DO NOT TAKE CAMERAS ON RIDES, i cannot say this any louder, not only are you putting yourself at risk of injury but other people as well. When camera crews come into WS like the Footy Show did recently and they take a camera on the ride SP and Demon they have the camera gaffer taped to their hand and to the harness. Guys safety comes first at them parks, if you dont care about your own safety think about others.
  9. Sorry to dissapoint you all but there has only been one death at WS and that was an unfortunate drowning of a toddler at the beach. The reason Wizard's was taken down and replaced with Galleons is because it was about 30 years old and the maintance of the ride was difficult as parts were scarce.
