  1. What RCT3 Platinum? I've got Soaked and Wild for RCT3, is platinum just those two expansions bundled into one box or is there more rides/scenery/whatever on the platinum game?
  2. Loops, corkscrews... Going upside down. Thats what inverting means.
  3. But remember, that money doesn't necessarily go into OLNY adding new rides, does it? There are thousands of things they could spend thousands of dollars on, behind the scenes areas of the park, and other maintenance and repair issues. (As well as other things I'm guessing)
  4. I'm excited about it!! I'm really interested to see what Intamin can do with this style of coaster. None of us can really complain or say anything about the ride, because like Nev said, NONE of us really know anything about the ride. Its all word of mouth... And we all know that sometimes that kind of information isn't correct. I'm not saying that the information we have heard isn't correct. I just think we should wait for Dreamworld to make an official announcement about it, then anyone who wants to say something about the ride, can! I think its going to be awesome!
  5. Well it could be a typo then. Like I said, email or call... but I suggest email the park and ask.
  6. That has to be an error on their information or something. 6 foot 2 height restrictions is a fair cut off of the general population. A lot of people these days are over 6 foot (6 foot 1...2) Ok, It many not be LOADS of people, but still... Enough to wonder. I just looked at the Dreamworld website and all of the 'Big Five' rides have a height limit of 200cm... which is 6 foot 6 roughly. But I've never seen someone get turned around for their height... Ever. In any theme park! Im hoping, for your sake, that its just a typo. Email and ask the park. And the MAY apply? *shrug* No idea!
  7. So, does the Rockin' Roller Coaster still use a catch car to launch the coaster? Is LSM, Linear Synchronous Motor? (Or however you spell it, or is that completely wrong...?)
  8. If your asking me, where did I get the info from. Myself! Hehe. Just by observing the photos.
  9. No, I think by looking at photos, the one built by Vekoma is their version of the catapult system. Seen on coasters like Rockin' Roller-Coaster at MGM. http://www.rcdb.com/ig2747.htm?picture=27 Like in this picture, you can see the catch car and the inner tracks it runs down to launch the train. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Found this on YouTube. This is the one called Velocity in Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo Malton, Yorkshire UK. This video from YouTube, has one ride footage of Velocity, as well as other attractions in the park. (Its around the 1min 20sec mark on the video where the booster bike footage comes in, if you don't want to watch the whole thing)
  11. Here is a basic animation of how the lift works. The squares are what the coaster trains are loaded onto. And don't get picky anyone, I know in the animation the lifts change sides of the track... But they don't on the real thing, each lift has its own designated rail and it travels up and down on one rail only. Not swap sides, as the animation shows.
  12. This is a direct translation of the information under the heading Talocan on the website: The ruling power of the God world: Talocan - an enormous strength, which controls everything. It reverenceful the heads of the four directions lean. It huldigen light and darkness, time and eternity. See its face in the sun stone: Four worlds circle it. Four worlds to serve connected it. Talocan, ruler over storm and water. Bezwinger of the fire and the rock. Master over the jungles, the mountains, valleys and villages. Talocan arranges the directions again for you. It shifts the borders of your consciousness in a fight of the elements. The round from Talocans sun stone - it will pull you in into its suction. Into a vortex from fire and water -, those, which protect safe distance to it, will purge to its hypnotischen strength. Talocan - the strength, which places everything into the shade. Talocan - the new attraction in the Phantasialand. Sound interesting..... Note: that the grammar wouldn't be correct in the translation. If you were reading it properly from German to English, some things would be said differently. But this is a word for word translation.
  13. Still, even if the drought is weakening.. We should ALL still be using rain water tanks and the like so that when this drought (IF it) comes around again, Australia is fully prepared. I would like to think that Movie World and other theme parks use water tanks to collect water, but I doubt they would. (And industries with large roof expanses, not just theme parks.)
  14. These rides aren't the easiest of rides to theme. Even with Dr Dooms Fearfall at IOA, it doesn't really have any story line to it. No pre-show or movie, you just walk through a building to board the ride and thats pretty much it. Some cool lights within the building and what not. I understand that, that in fact is theming, but still, it doesn't add anything extra to the ride. I think we should just be happy that Movie World are installing new rides, regardless of their degree of theming. Sure, a great themed ride adds a lot of extra excitement to the ride, but maybe in this case they thought it was better to keep it simple. The ride is still effective regardless of what surrounds it. Being able to see the riders faces before launch is a great idea! Rather then them being hidden behind a wall of some sort. The fact that onlookers can see their faces, and potentially see how scared they are adds to the suspense of people in the queue line or just watching, giving the ride that added edge of fear.
  15. I think the water effect is a lot cheaper to maintain then a true smoke machine. Fog juice is not so cheap when you would be going through liters upon liters of it. Although, it would create a much better effect, I agree. Sounds like the ride is awesome. The pics are wicked! I can't wait to get up there in March and give it a go. I love that stomach out of your body feeling...
  16. The latest I heard about this was on the ThrillNetwork website. December 13th - Magic Mountain to Remain Open It says that the CEO wants to keep it as an amusement park but has not ruled out selling it to another operator. More information in the link. tom
  17. There is an update on OzCoaster. It shows everything mostly completed. Except maybe themeing. But the gondla is there with seats and the like.... etc.
  18. Wow!! That is cheap! Thats about $160,000 Australian... Lets all chip in Haha!! That incredible! I wonder if it is a mistake... Or some sort of joke. Interesting...
  19. If that Mega Drop traveled at 204km/h, it would reach the bottom of the tower in under a second. 240km/hour = 56.6meter/second. The Mega Drop doesnt travel that fast. Just thought I should clear that up. Hehe! I was amazed when I heard it traveled that fast... And I believed it until I did the calculations
  20. I'm assuming it works just like any other point change on a coaster. The track has one section that completely moves. When its in position one, it makes the circuit that directs the train through the subway, into the section that passes the water and police cars. In the second position, it directs the track straight into the holding bay, or whatever you want to call it. I know that on some systems, the track just rotates slightly, rotates and flips, or it moves from side to side enabling the different pieces of track to slot together. While I was at IOA, they added the second trains on both of the track on Dueling Dragons. It took all of about 5 mins (10 MAX) for the whole system to be up and running again. I presume Superman wouldn't take that long. The tracks would be switched, the train rolled out, and either it would be stopped in the subway section, waiting for the tracks to change again, and then sent off through to the launch, or completely reversed into the station. I know that on Dueling Dragons, they reversed it into the station. So yeah, theres my 2 cents worth. Ha ha!
  21. There is a small amount of waiting time before the carriage is shot up the tower. But yes, most probably the ride time will be shorter then the GD, and hopefully, the ride is well managed which will help queue times.
  22. It could be used to provide a virtual tour guide. Showing you where to look and commentary and then the person being able to look out for themselves and see. Or, if it can be used for functions. A business could use it for presenations, or to display videos. Heaps of possibilites.
  23. By far, Popeye and Blutos at IOA is the best water ride I've been on! You get saturated! And just when you think its over... It keeps on going!! One of the longest rides I've been on as well. It just doesn't give up! The theming is good too. At Universal standards! Hehe! Awesome ride! And it has those water cannons where you can pay to control one and wet people as they go past in the boats. Same as Ripsaw Falls... Thats another good water ride too! But Popeye is better.
  24. Im guessing that the top of it, will be something similar to these towers. Well, not similar as in exactly the same design, but something topping off the tower like shown here: This is Dr Doom Fearfall at IOA, not sure if it is the same height as what Batwing is going to be, but I went on it, and its an awesome ride!
  25. Oh, in response to Richards earlier post about 'selling or dumping the Titanic ride parts'... I always thought that there was a fire that ripped through that particular building and destroyed it... I dont know, maybe I'm wrong.
