I noticed that too, and was not questioned when I took my Handycam on most of the rides when I was in America. I think they have the mentality that the ride ops cant stop the public from filming on the rides. So just don't enforce the 'No loose objects' rule, unlike here in Australia. On the Rock n Rollercoaster at MGM I had my camera in my hand and my back pack at my feet, and neither of them moved during the ride.

Why did the Blacklot at Fox Studios Close Down

Tony has described it fairly well above. But yes, it was pretty much an interactive walk through. The first room you went into was like a working movie set with a cutrin infront of you. It had props and stuff from the movie, then the curtain lifted (When the tour guide said action!) and you boarded through a facade of the side of the ship, with working cranes and what not lifting cargo into the ship. The next room you went into, you stood in rows facing the hull of the ship from the inside. An actor came to a podium and welcomed you, and told you that we were all on our way and we should kick back and 'party'. Then the ship is struck by the ice berg and the wall you are facing buckles and water starts pouring in. You got splashed if you were standing in the front row, but nothing major. Then the group splits into the live and die situations. The die group walks through the engine room. As far as i can remeber there were some fire effects. And then you came to the grand staircase, and got your photo taken. The live side, you walk up to the top deck of the ship, down into the life boats and you were pushed off into the water (in the boats). The actual ship moved up and down as you were trying to get down into the life boats. Then the lights go dim and a movie screen came on infront of you which projected the scene from the movie where you can see the Props, and the ship comes crashing down and makes a big wave. Acouple of water canons fire off in sync with the movie and that was pretty much it. You got your photos taken in the life boats and you were returned to the 'dock' where you boarded the life boats and out the exit. Thats pretty brief, but thats as much as I can remeber. So yes, in short (HAHA!) it was a interactive walk through with some moving, simulator type effects. -

They also had this dark theatre, with all these speakers in it, which put you in the path of a steam train and gave you the feeling people were running around you. And some other fun sound things, which I can't remeber. There was a the special effects makeup show, I remeber I was picked for it and got a massive fake cut up my arm which looked quite real! I'm not sure if they were all part of the one attraction but there was also a sound stage where audience members got to create the sound effects for a movie, I got picked for that aswell... I was the foot steps and the knock at the door. -
Hey, its only my opinion. Maybe they just weren't my ideal type of ride. No need to get all defensive about it. Thats what people forget on these forums, its open for discussion and people are entitled to their opinion. Maybe what I said came across the wrong way. I meant to say I wouldn't re-ride it over and over again... But I'm not even going to bother to resolve the full issue. It seems like you have it locked in your mind thats it your way or the high way when it comes to good rides.
-
Yeah that would be ok, but those ride arent that good. I found Men in Black quite boring. It was ok the first time, but its deffinatly not a re-rider unless your determined to get a high score. Same with the Buzz Lightyear one at Disney, same concept. Although its aimed at kids. I found it boring unless you were concentrating real hard to get a high score lol!
-
The ride is at both Disney parks.
-
Terminator 3 is a WB Movie, maybe they could do a similar Terminator show to what they have at the Universal parks. I would love to see a Harry Potter ride. Or Matrix Ride. Motion simulators shaped like broom sticks!! Haha!
-
Actually, thats correct Richard. It was an oringinal concept. But the ride was deffinatly around before the movie.
-
No, it went book, ride then movie. The ride was re-vamped to suit the movie. Featureing characters from the movie, not from the book. The animatronics were re-vamped to create the prominate characters like Jack Sparrow the way Johnny Depp played him in the movie.

Haha!! I wouldn't call it the 'Thrill Ride of the Year' but it's deffinatly a WICKED ride!! I was at Animal Kingdom in October and went on Everest over and over again. Its pretty damn awesome!! Alos, I think that documentary is on YouTube in parts (I think there is 5 parts) , so you can always watch it there if it can't be taped for you or whatever.

Its all really a preference when it comes to whether you like Woodies or Steel better. They both give completely different ride experiences. Woodies tend to give a more 'out of countrol' ride experience. Alot of us would only remeber woodies being like The Beastie and The Bush Beast from Wonderland, but these days, they can build woodie coasters just as high, fast or steep as many steel coasters. Sometimes, they are cheaper to build and they aren't anymore expensive to run (As far as I am aware. They still use the same breaking/chain lift system as many conventional Steel coasters). Maybe maintenance costs may be higher...*Shrug*. I dont know the full scope of it all. So it pretty much all comes down to a preference in ride experience.
-
Yeah I agree. Putting people out of jobs isn't very nice... Saves them money I guess. Not that they need it. I know for a fact that Disney World emply 57 000 people which is constantly growing. But I guess thats technology for you. Got to move with the times, especially if it allows a better service. But so cool!! Driverless! Thats mad!!
-
Has anyone asked channel 7 if they have a copy of the show they can send out?
-
....Most are supposed to be smooth.... Poor maintenance can account for a steel coaster being rough, unless the design of the coaster was supposed to be rough.
-
I dont think its a matter of them being 'out a fashion'. Wooden coaster give a different feel to the ride then a steel. They just broaden the spectrum of coaster variety. Its a matter of people liking, or prefering which one. I prefer both. Out of control, rough feeling you get from a wooden is great, and the smooth, inverted elements of a steel are also great. (Not that ALL steel coasters have inversions)

It was at Luna Park and the Sydney Easter Show aswell. Its just like 2 gondalas with 4 people on each gondala attatched to two long arms. And the arms spin really quickly and the gondalas can rotate in any which way direction. im talking 10 - 15 m long arms here (correct me if im wrong) so its not little. Looks very dainty... lol! but goes pretty damn fast. 13rpm or something like that

Copyright and IP, trademark (stuff) only comes into play if there are things like the superman logo is visible within the film. Or is someones face is shown in the film and there wasnt any permission granted or what not. But yes, who cares. Enjoy the films. You never know, the people who posted the films may have already got permission to show the videos online.

The curtains between the stations have been working for ages. When I was there in Feb they were working. But its good too see that there are two trains working... Or was that just because of school holidays?
-
Didnt the movie used to be based on the move Wild Wild West with Will Smith in it?

Well, comments like yours just posted, can be expressed WITHOUT the need to use bad language. Even if it is censored. And besides, after all, this IS a forum, where everyone has the right to put their two cents in, regardless of criticism, structual criticism, or helping a person with their questions. Your ideas are coming accross as a little far fetched. But thats ok, you can express your ideas, but then again, expect comments (Good and bad)

Lol! I couldnt agree more.... I think he's just possibly trying to get attention, or bored... Or something else. *shrugs*

I dont think they slow the ride down so its less strain on the computers... its a computer, its under no physical stress. Although its functions to compute data may be under stress, but I dont think its computer systems have been changed since it opened (Correct me if im wrong) So it should be handleing the same amount of data it was when it first opened. The computer just tells the other parts of the system what to do and when to do it. Things like sensors on the track can age and be put under more stress, but then again, im not an expert on the ride or its functions... Could someone who actualy knows the correct functions of the TOT shine some light on the subject? But yes, the TOT is old... That we can all agree on! LOL! 10 years (or close to it) isnt it? But anyway, back onto the TOPIC, i've never been to either Infinity or on the Vomitron... But next time im up there i'm thinking of going! wOOt!
-
As in a REAL park or a park based on your computer?? If its a real park, the first thing you should think about is having the land to build it on, and the money!! Ive always wanted to start my own park lol!! I reckon it would be WICKED!!!
