Wasn't he referring to a question about picking up Dreamworld radio transmissions last year? I think that was the joke

I certainly don't mind helping with the Road Runner design.
-
I'm sure someone else will make an equivalent soon. Theme park simulations are too high-concept to just die. At least the Thrillville games are fun though limited in the simulation stakes.

Try rereading my post. I said we could do the fictional rides/attractions in a seperate version once the recreation was done. I could help with everything... landscaping, track design etc. Helping get all those fine details right.
-
^ Exactly. And I'll help. I think once we have recreated the park, we should do an expansion version and think up our own additions to the park. Like a rollercoaster that travels over Main Street, in and out of buildings and around the roof etc. We won't be able to replicate the new stunt show so perhaps we could just build the set and have a 'stunt coaster' or something. Like a better version of Lethal Weapon. Hmm, we'll work that out.

If only! Still, never say never. It's a shame because it was a cool concept for a park. Maybe just the wrong location. But I would have loved to get at least one visit in. WVTP should do a rock and roll themed thrill park , around Sydney or Melbourne and grow it gradually after a halfway decent launch lineup. I'm not expecting much on the scale of LZ at the beginning but say have 1 major coaster with a couple of other smaller ones then add to that over time. Even having a general music theme would be a nice counterpoint to their 'movie park'. Appealing to mass market and great theming/ride possibilities.

Great POV but that reporter has a REALLY boring voice! By the way, I setup http://www.tinyurl.com/jetrescue as a shortcut to make it easier for people to link to that video.
-
Oh ok. So you had a World Pass then? Fair enough but all parks have intake limits don't they? WWW's would come into effect more because of its small size.
-
Well if there are that many people in the park, you wouldn't be able to get on anything anyway... 9pm every night for Wet'n'Wild? That's good to know. I was given a 3 Park Mega Pass for Christmas so that's something I could do to avoid turning into Lobster Boy like half the people you see walking around Surfers
-
That's ok. Well, you're not going to find many of those in Australia unfortunately. And as I said, it was a small area to work with. I really don't think either of you'd find it boring. Hopefully the 2 train operation will remain in place but while the lines may look long, you don't have a major wait. Even with one train I can't see it being a problem most of the time... I fit 20 rides in despite getting to the park late and fit in lunch and a ride on Bermuda Triangle (and the Pirate Ship as well but then, that's always a walk on). 6 in the morning, 14 in the afternoon then left the park early. If that's two days after opening and in peak season, I can't see wait times becoming an issue really. It doesn't even look like fire. Would a projection have cost THAT much? Surely it'd be worth the investment to maintain the quality level of such a premier ride for the park.
-
Hopefully they will keep using the second train - or at the very least, do so most of the time. Less wait times = happier guests = more upgrades to annual passes/positive feedback to friends.
-
Exactly. Or keep riding the monorail non-stop until the timing is right to capture a few seconds of it - well maybe more than a few but certainly not much. Not worth the effort.

And anyway, why not? All bags are created equal! She may have had a couple of drinks in there from a local store so she didn't have to buy them in the park. Or whatever. *shrug* Why does it matter? -

I agree. It's an inexpensive and logical thing to do! -
Bear in mind though that there was a really small area for JR's footprint. I would also prefer something that is intense from start to finish even if it is on the short side -- to a ride that goes too long and muddles its way through its second half. JR's quick cycle times allows you to hop right back in line for another go. You say he likes quick major twists, well, if he was to go on he would find that with the speed of the turning and sudden changes in direction. I have had the benefit of going on a variety of coasters in the US - in Southern California, the Midwest (eg Cedar Point), upper NY state, Pennsylvania, Canada and Orlando. Every time, coming back to our lineup has met with mixed feelings. But I was able to be genuinely thrilled on this ride, even if that didn't last for very long. I think it's something that overseas guests will be pretty impressed with in terms of intensity/proximity to ground/well above average realisation of the theme. In my mind, it joins Superman and Scooby as something quite special. They wanted to keep it accessible for families yet still provide a great ride experience. They've achieved that. And when the vegetation develops and hopefully we see theming further improved (station, queue area etc), it'll be even better. I saw several Sea World employees queuing up to ride & it was telling what one said to another: 'This ride makes us much happier about working at the park.' Well done, Sea World!!

Hopefully better than the Jet Rescue ones - mousepad, magnet, keyring, stubbie holder, a shirt which doesn't have the polar bear-on-jetski logo, just the writing of the ride's name. There are generic jetski toys too but i feel they should have whacked a decal on at least , even a bit of curvy track and a sealion. But oh well.
-
Yeah I wanted to ride it too. Did end up @Bermuda Triangle (which seemed to lack that massive fire effect -- what's with that?) and Pirate Ship though. The queues actually moved quite fast. PS walk-on of course, 30 minutes for BT and JR you got on within 3-4 cycles - more as a single-rider. The Plunge also had a really short queue, basically the last bit of stair before the loading platform. But it would have been good to do the Corkscrew with JR going alongside. Anyone know what the reason for the maintenance is? Replacing it with a flyer?

Thanks for providing the link. I don't think it's sped up, I think we're seeing skipped video frames as it seems to play jerkily for me. Hard to tell because once it's fully loaded, can't be replayed without reloading the tab. Edit: Ok so you can rewind it to an earlier part, but it actually doesn't seem any smoother. From what I could make out, it should be a heap of fun. ANY coaster could top MDMC though with the exception of a Wacky Worm (the speed of which DW's coaster drops to halfway through, mind you!) But it gave me no impression that I didn't get from looking at the layout in person on Sunday. I really hope the cave improves and the sealion rescue part is done well. I don't like the name becoming 'Jet Rescue' though. 'Jetski Rescue' makes a lot more sense. Jetskis aren't called 'jets' for short, are they? The name makes it sound like a dogfight scenario. I mean, even Superman Escape could have been themed better - as in, more extensively - more details in the station, better effect for Superman's appearance, a Metropolis facade, etc - but it was still quite cohesively done. This looks a bit half-baked. Hopefully things will go into overdrive for the next few days before opening but I'm not holding my breath. At the end of the day though, if the experience the layout suggests it will, it'll be ranked closely behind Superman Escape and Scooby Doo on my ranking of local coasters. Perhaps equally tied with Scooby Doo, just a different kind of experience. -

I was there yesterday... the landscaping looks a bit blah IMHO. The 'cave' has rocks over the opening on the side closest to the bridge to the Corkscrew, however is yet to have a top to match. From memory [correct me if I'm wrong], the side of that tunnel has a crappily-painted ocean scene on it which is a weird thing to have on a cave! The pools look pretty bad, like the coaster was made by someone new to RCT3. The way the rocks are stacked doesn't seem that realistic either. One thing in its favour though is the track is extremely curvy, I'm just hoping to have some decent pops of airtime as the hills could have been better. -
$115 is a very good price. I think Whitewater World is $99 too -- making buying passes to both parks very competitive with a 2 Park Mega Pass. Even though I've been given a 3 Park Mega Pass, I would really only opt for a WWW pass. I just don't see myself wanting to go to DW in the near future for anything other than doing The Mummy. But I doubt it's worth a one-day admission somehow.
