From Movie Worlds facebook. "We know we’re all obsessed with GREEN LANTERN at the moment but let’s not forget our other favourites. Have you checked out the newly released trailer for The Dark Knight Rises yet? We feel a new obsession coming on!!! " Some sort of inference to whats going in next year? Or am I reading into it too much. Anyway, the line looks nice. Needs more shade, mist sprays or something. Maybe its just my inner 'Melbournite' coming out, but I would struggle standing around on a hot, busy day.

Thanks for all the reports guys . Nice to see the station isn't as poorly presented as I expected. In relation to other rides on the coast, how does it stack up?
-
Any idea ideas on whether the station will be some what enclosed or just a roof? Can't figure out what they are doing in the above photos. Thanks for the report as well

New backers for theme park plan DANIEL EMERSON, The West Australian Updated December 10, 2011, 2:20 am The WA-based proponents of a multibillion-dollar theme park and resort in Perth have released an artist's impression of what it could look like, complete with hotels, nightclub strip and zoo. Inspire WA says it is pressing ahead with the ambitious project after the original backers, Italian animatronics entertainment company Ermes Technologies, dropped out. The Los Angeles-based themed entertainment division of Jordanian company Rubicon Group Holdings took over the design and development after meeting Inspire WA representatives in Orlando, Florida, last month. Eric Pearson, a director of Inspire WA, which rebranded itself after it dropped the name Ermes when it split from that company, said a confidentiality agreement prevented him revealing why it parted ways with the Italians. He said RGH representatives would fly to Perth in February to inspect potential locations in the Wanneroo, Swan, Rockingham and Peel districts. A $2 million feasibility study is scheduled to begin in mid-2012. Inspire WA hopes construction will begin in late 2013 and finish in 2016. Mr Pearson said he had been prepared for scepticism after it was revealed the plan was to attract two million tourists a year to the park but most people looked on it positively. "I'm just amazed the larger percentage see there's something on the horizon," he said. "It is possible, everything's possible." Mr Pearson's vision includes local universities getting involved in running the precinct's safari park and stage shows. RGH themed entertainment director Lenny Larsen said the company was "super exited" about the project. "Inspire WA have envisioned something truly magnificent for Perth and we can't wait to see it take shape, first on our drawing boards and later on the beautiful site that has been identified for the project," he said. RGH signed on in May to design and develop a US$1.5 billion Star Trek theme park in Jordan. Tourism Minister Kim Hames, who has met Inspire WA representatives, said they had "interesting ideas" and he looked forward to seeing the results of the feasibility study. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-...eme-park-plan/ Loss of a major partner says a lot about the likelyhood of this going ahead. Maybe if the downgraded it significantly or atleast staggered the development rather than trying to go ahead and complete the whole precinct as quick as possible. Nonetheless, good luck to them.

I think its meant to open on 15th, well thats what the people at S&S said in one of the IAPPA videos. Maybe they will continue themeing the ride, but just wanted to get it open in time for the holidays.
-
Woo, themeing.

Just found this, good (and painful) memories. The one time I went to the park it was pretty much empty, so me and my brother pretty much just re-rode Bush Beast for about an hour . God that was a long time ago.

Any ideas what they could do with speakers? Is there precedent for more than just music. Excuse my ignorance... Was thinking considering the movie storyline, that different elements of the ride could represent different transformations? Probably too far fetched though.

What makes an inversion an inversion?

RCDB counts only 2 inversions on the other El Locos. -
Peel site inspired $4b Park Brad Elborough | October 16, 2011 Three sites have been shortlisted for WA's proposed $4 billion theme park, with experts tipping Rockingham as most likely to get the green light. The company behind the development, Inspire WA, is expected to make an announcement this week of the involvement of a major US partner. But feasibility studies are under way at three potential sites. The Alkimos area, north of Wanneroo, and another location in the Swan Valley, tipped as Whiteman Park are two areas being considered. But the Peel region is the most likely according to tourism experts because of its proximity of public transport and land coasts for the 240ha site. The development is expected to include two theme parks, four hotels, two golf courses, convention space and an entertainment precinct. ==============================================================================================================================

Hasn't been that much of a problem for the last 10 years (sorry 3408 days...scared of not being 100% accurate here) has it? Seems an unnecessary.

What an awesome list of rides relating to Superheroes. Can someone explain to me where abouts the new entrance to the Lethal Weapon is, sorry if its been mentioned already. It really does work quite nicely looking at the above image if the Lethal Weapon/Anonymous DC Comic Character Rollercoaster has moved its entrance towards that area. Only (small) problem is diversity in themeing. Superheroes are great but I think they need some new key attractions which aren't related to that. A matter of patience I guess.

The Parkz Update: Movie World, September 30 2011
keadz replied to Richard's topic in Latest News & Updates
Whats the concensus with Sea World's new trains? Didn't really make the ride smoother, though I'm not sure if that was the aim of the upgrade. The old trains were pretty smooth anyway. According to the website the upgrade was "the final stage of a step-by-step upgrade made to a 1982 Arrow Dynamics Loop / Corkscrew and which includes new chassis, bodies and restraint system. The new style bodies allowed the ride to be re-launched in 2010 as the 'Sea Viper'. The new restraint mechanism provides infinitely adjustability of the harnesses and ensures that the locking and redundancy of the system comply with both the Australian and European amusement ride safety standards." Hopefully the aim for Lethal Weapon is to make the ride actually enjoyable (crazy I know). -
Can't say I care too much if they replace it (preferably sometime soon/next year) with something equally as immersive. I'm more excited about the oppurtunities rather than being disappointed with the loss. Same goes with LTRR + Bermuda. Just the timing of the ride closures seems a bit odd, unless there is something behind the scenes that we aren't seeing.

Wonder if Movie World will ever get anywhere near the amount of followers that Dreamworld has. Have a lot of work to do in that department! Like the unveiling of the ride idea, too bad people have effectively already guessed whats going in. (so I'm led to believe (is it lead or led?))

The Zombie Apocalypse maze sounds similar to the prison break maze they had at Luna Park Melbourne a few years back.(2006?) Effectively was just a maze with strobe lighting, smoke, chain link fence and mirrors. The prisoners would come up from the other side of the fence (from pitch black) and scare the crap out of you, in the end even seeing your reflection in some of the mirrors gave you a fright. At certain points through the maze, very angry prison guards would lead you a certain direction. It was always funny seeing the people trying to get the actors out of character, and then in the end getting a big fright themselves.

For anybody interested....(anybody?) "FACTOIDS" http://www.adventureworld.net.au/NEW/Factoids.aspx STAGE 2 STAGE 3

Thanks heaps
-
God no. That would require effort, I'll stick to urban planning.
-
I wonder if there are any plans to move the entrance of the park, so the whole idea of a 'super hero' area can be better executed.
-
Cool cool. Thanks for the info Photos would be awesome, not even sure where abouts in the park its being built.

NIMBY's, for someone interested in urban planning and architecture...are the worst people in the world . Try attending a community meeting when everyone is against a proposal for a 3 storey building (or something equally as insignificant) in inner city Melbourne. It makes me a little bit crazy. Hopefully it gets passed them, I think the region needs this sort of investement so I would be surprised if the council didn't let it through.

Does anybody know if construction has started on the rumoured Log Flume?

Not going to lie, the whole movie is pretty hilarious for just how absurd it is. This is coming from someone who had no idea about the comic book though, so a lot of the super powers and particularly the villains came as a bit of a surprise. If the ride turns out good I won't complain about theming choice though, and that doesn't look like it will be an issue. Even if you haven't seen the movie, most people would have heard of the Green Lantern, so the longetivy of the movies popularity shouldn't really matter.
