Green lantern was a pretty shit movie and there will be a pretty big gap between the film release (not so much the DVD) and the opening of the ride. I still hold some doubts but I'm guessing that is what they are going with.

Thanks for the photos! Will certainly stand out.

Like I said, no history expert. But buzz saw/saw mill are kind of different...and then I guess old circular saws are different to buzz saws?
-
I'm no history expert, but I don't really think it fits the area. Buzz Saws, in the Gold Rush? Would be more appropriate towards the Log Ride and Giant Drop. I agree with the rest of the post though.

I'm looking forward to the additions to Disney parks the most, lots of construction at all of the parks. Particularly interested in the seven dwarf coaster, hoping for something decent. Hong kongs expansion looks pretty decent.

This and the old ski show would be a nice combination. Shame.. Looks good though

Sunshine coast people shouldn't live in a tourist destination if they don't want that type if development there. Similar to people living in the inner city and complaining about high rise construction or apartments going up in the same suburb. I agree it won't go ahead though...

keadz replied to Richard's topic in Latest News & Updates
The ride does look like a lot of fun as well, but the capacity will be horrible. Great update thanks -
Nearmaps?

Photo of sky loop for comparison, might have a point there.

http://video.perthnow.com.au/2041142044/Nine-News---Theme-parks http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/9782223/hunt-on-for-4b-resort-and-theme-park-site/ The preferred location for a proposed $4 billion resort and theme park could be decided as early as September, with the first stage slated to open in 2015, according to the company behind the project. The West Australian revealed in April that Italian-based Ermes Technologies had identified Perth as the preferred home for a new world-class theme park. Similar in style to Walt Disney World, it would include two theme parks, up to four hotels, two golf courses and an entertainment precinct featuring restaurants, shops, stage shows and discos. After ruling out Victoria and Bali, the company has now registered Ermes Technologies WA with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and set up a Perth project team including local engineering company Veritas and accounting firm MSquared. Andi Matthies, executive vice-president marketing, said yesterday that investigations had identified three potential sites between Alkimos and Mandurah. While declining to give specifics, she said at least 240ha of land was needed for the park, which ideally would be no more than 50 minutes from the city. Ms Matthies said a decision on which site to pursue to a $500,000 feasibility phase, as well as a final investment decision, was expected in September when Italian executives arrive in Perth for a one-week visit. However, Ermes vice-president operations Eric Pearson, an ex-submariner turned defence securities and entertainment projects consultant and the only non-Italian director of Ermes Technologies WA, said the project would be staged and flagged 2015 as the timeframe for opening the first theme park and hotel. Mr Pearson said among issues being considered were the long-term plans for different areas and the potential for a rail spur line to run to the theme park. "We've got to start talking seriously to the Government to see if we can do it," he said. Ermes said in April that Perth's proximity and direct flights to Asia and its growing popularity as a cruise ship destination made it an ideal resort location. The company has received a letter of support from Tourism Minister Kim Hames and has met Tourism WA officials.

For me personally, I faith in movie world to invest and produce another fantastic ride experience like we have seen in the past 10+ years. Where as for Dreamworld, past experiences tell me not to get my hopes up. And going from above, apparently this movie world coaster will be bigger than the current examples. Where as all rumours point Dreamworld getting a standard sky loop. Also, Dreamworld has ample space to work with...could have got something awesome, whereas movie world in quite constrained... Lots of things...but I will happily eat my words if I am proved wrong. Doesn't look like that will be happening though.
-
Well its certainly all out now isn't it? I really, really, really hope they present this ride to a similar standard as their other major attractions, that is my only worry. But overall, considering the lack of space I think this is a fantastic decision from the park and definetely better than a Zacspin. By all accounts, it sounds like we will be getting 2 rides. So Movie Worlds line up is going to be awesome! Finally making the move towards and all day park. Lets hope it lives up to my incredibly high standards (anyway I'm probably the only person here who didn't have a clue what was going on)

That's awesome, TPR may have had an after effect? Though i guess if they get a decent turnout it won't be much like ERT anyway. Good to see the 2 new rides for sea world and movie world in writing as well.

Till June 2013! They must realize they have an inferior product, I agree. Seriously....that's pretty crazy. I'm guessing they will look to phase out the deal once this one has been passed? Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I fail to see how these passes will be good for the parks profits on the long term.

You liked ghost rider! Brutal ride, fun but brutal. Thanks for another great report
-
I absolutely love the photography there.(though some are a bit too saturated/photo shopped for my liking) The atmosphere and the derelict state of the park, I would love to check it out. Thanks for sharing:). Anybody know of plans to reopen the park, though it does look beyond repair...
-
That's a fairly big loss there if true. Keen to see what they do with the area...
-
Any guesses for what they could be building out the front? Richards new update make it look like a fairly significant area.... Scared to get my hopes up.
-
Seems like their is some potential for a great ride, at the same time it could be something underwhelming. They have a fairly decent selection of coasters hopefully Dreamworld went for something different, but with some length... Themeing could make or break the ride IMO, fine having a short ride if it's not just some parking lot coaster...rather somewhat immersive and interesting. Still seems like somewhat of a missed opportunity to me.
-
I really hope they fix it up. I love the immersive themeing and story involved with the attraction, just needs a ride experience to match that.
-
Too many Aussie themepark websites to keep track of now.
-
Haha, atleast they have made a storyline. Strange one though. Interesting to see how it turns out...certainly fairly complicated. They make it sound like the ride is going to travel through some gigantic aquarium, but for dome reason I doubt that Good filler attraction anyway.
