So shockwave... Sounds like a Luna park Melbourne sort of thing. Chuck a flat ride on some asphalt, give it a cool sounding name and we're done. Will be interesting to see how they theme it.

Appreciate the lengthy report, haven't seen too many reviews around the place. Sounds like a fantastic park, despite the teething problems. Slightly disappointed in the coaster selection, and don't see any expansion occurring soon...but obviously the park is so much more than that. Can't wait to visit the place as soon as I can't get there!

Cyclone, turning time at Luna Park Sydney.

Chill. Just copied the info (albeit incorrect) from where I found the image. Found it really hard to find info of the parks from earlier years actually. If you could direct me to some links with some more indept information of either Luna Parks it would be much appreciated -

From RCDB. Here is the original oneWild Cat, a Schwarzkopf travelling unit. And for those interested, here is of Luna Park Melbourne with its own Big Dipper. -
Not sure they need to expand the superhero/comic book area of the park anymore. Certainly could do with some improvement (batman simulator needs an upgrade) but it already takes up enough room me thinks. Seems like a bit of a struggle to find good Warner bros movies to theme rides to these days. Sucker punch the ride anybody?

What are they doing to the entrance? Not getting rid of the cinema are they, though it wasn't in use when I was there a couple months back.

I'm personally more excited about seeing what replaces Bermuda at sea world and the river ride at movie world considering the quality of their previous additions. Hopefully they don't disappoint.
-
I think its a solid addition, and it leaves more funds for the major thrill ride, well more than I had initially anticpated.
-
I don't think anything too extravagant (if it is a coaster) can be built for the family ride considering the time left. Who knows though, could turn out really good. Hopefully this investment can have some flow on effects and we see movie world add something big to compete.

Well out of the 10+ million visitors to the gold coast every year, I would say less than 1 million of them would be international. People don't come to Australia for theme parks (and no offense, but the gold coast doesn't offer much more, well not anything else unique) so your not going to see huge numbers of international visitors flocking to the parks. Sydney would have more success in this area IMO, just because people will already be in close vicinity to wet b wild and won't need to fly to a completely new area/city to go to the park Time will tell though.

Just some concerns have been put forward by the council, which can have been described here: http://www.blacktownsun.com.au/news/local/news/general/city-seeks-park-detail/2117531.aspx I think members of the community have had the chance to put forward their objections, but there seems to be support for the project. Hopefully the issues with the council can be resolved (they should) and construction can start soon.

My only concern with a Eurofighter would be the (I presume) short ride time, otherwise I wouldn't have any concern with the quality of the ride. They seem to really pack a punch and could possible fit well as a replacement for the mine ride. Wouldn't think they would get 2 coasters though, so will be interesting to see what the family thrill ride is. .

Yep, I initially meant the fenced off area but that last image was helpful as well. Thanks

Would someone be able to utilize handy ol' nearmaps/google earth and paint to show the area in question?

In reference to Australian parks, keep in mind that these companies are much bigger than just the themeparks, particularly for Village. I would pressume that those numbers are fairly managable for companies as big as they are. (I could be completely wrong though and they might be really struggling) For smaller parks like the Luna Parks, Aussie World, Jamberoo etc...I wouldn't have a clue what type of financial state they are in. Would be interesting to find out.

TBH, just went with what I interpreted from the article. I'm guessing it meant to say has attractions within Universal Studios and Alton Towers. If I knew how to use these forums I would edit the title ...

Perth in line for $4b resort and theme park TIFFANY FOX, The West Australian April 8, 2011, 2:55 am Perth has been identified as the preferred home for a proposed $4 billion resort and theme park by a European animatronics entertainment company. Encouraged by the State Government's push to boost WA's profile as a world-class holiday destination, Ermes Technologies wants to attract more than two million tourists a year by building one of the biggest family resort and theme park operations on the planet. The proposed development would be similar in style to Walt Disney World and would include two theme parks, up to four hotels, two golf courses and an entertainment precinct featuring restaurants, retail shops, stage shows and discos. Ermes themed entertainment division chief executive Enrico Petrucci said Perth's proximity and direct flights to Asia and its growing popularity as a cruise ship destination made it an ideal resort location. "The resort will be a dreamland," he said. "Totally self-contained to reach, to rest and have fun for two or three days. "Where people can return home with unforgettable memories and the desire to come back again. "Of course, it would be foolish of any business to place all its eggs in one basket and if we find Perth is not interested, the second city we are looking at is Melbourne." Mr Petrucci said the development would be the biggest project yet for the Italian-based company's themed entertainment division, which specialised in custom-built hotels and themed attractions. Ermes is the representative of Sally Corporation, whose attractions include Universal Studios in Los Angeles and Florida and Britain's Alton Towers. Mr Petrucci said a specific location and the size of the park had not been finalised. Ermes planned to secure agreements with Australian architects for the park's design before approaching the State Government with a formal proposal. The company also hoped to work with the WA Academy of Performing Arts to provide hands-on training and work for students. It planned to open hospitality, cooking and bar service schools. Tourism WA chief Stephanie Buckland said the proponents of the potential development had not approached the State. "But from what you describe, it sounds like a bold and exciting development that would be welcome in Western Australia," she said. Tourism Minister Kim Hames said it was an exciting and ambitious proposal and he would be interested to learn more. WAAPA director Julie Warn said any development that ramped up the entertainment and allied industries in WA and increased employment opportunities for students was welcome. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/9157617/perth-in-line-for-4b-resort-and-theme-park/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I guess these types of articles come along fairly often, but nice to a proposal is being put towards the government. Probably will require a substantial amount of investment from the tax payers, similar to the African Safari world proposal. And most probably is just a unrealistic dream, but who knows. Perth is booming at the moment, with the water front and the BHP building currently under construction (I believe it will be the tallest office building in Australa)...anything could happen...right?
-
Family thrill ride, what would go under the category? Hopefully both these attractions are towards the left side of the park. Nonetheless, let the ridiculous speculations, abundance of photo updates and feelings of anticipation begin! Can't wait to see what they have in stall.

Pov of the giant drop gives a really shitty impression of the ride. :/ Oh well, cool to have all these videos now

Wish flights to Singapore started getting a little bit cheaper so a 3-4 day trip could become more feasible. Would love to visit this park, and plan on doing so sometime in the next year or two...but for somewhere so close it's still fairly expensive. Still thinks it awesome that a park of this quality is so close to home.

The moderating on TPR is a bit of a fail, one of the reasons I haven't and probably never will join the site. Good place to lurk though... Looks like they did wet n wild and Dreamworlds in one day? Probably the two parks I though would be worth Full days!
-
According to the TPR Facebook page, we will be getting one. The disk-o opens on the 1st of April so they might be lucky enough to be their for the opening.
-
Still can't hear the "fast, superman fast" in this POV . Awesome to see a high quality and complete POV of this ride though. Sounds like it competes pretty well with other accelerators too Would be even better if they got a high quality POV of scooby.
-
They probably would have been better off coming next year when the bermuda triangle and river ride would have (hopefully) been replaced, Dreamworlds 2 new rides finished, the disk-o at Aussie world open and maybe even Sydneys wet n wild completed. Plus the rapids and log ride at dream world and the aqua loops are all down for maintenance. None the less, im sure traveling to Australia will still be a decent experience!

I'm as sucker for cute animals, great opportunity for dreamworld to have these extremely rare lions within the park for a short while. Shame Dreamworld is so far away!
