I had a 7 hour stop over in Doha yesterday - so it was a perfect opportunity to visit Doha Quest and check off a couple of record breaking rides. Getting there The metro in Doha is great now thanks to the world cup! Unlimited travel for one day can be purchased at any station, and will set you back $2.56 (for 24hrs of unlimited travel). Travel to Msheireb (15 mins, 5 stops) then transfer to the gold line for one stop in the Al Aziziyah direction to Bin Mahmoud - from there it's a 5 minute walk to Doha Quest. Admission will set you back around $100 AUD (heavy). You can't bring any external food or drink inside, and there's no where to keep it during your stay - they'll "donate it to charity" General vibes Feels like any well themed indoor park, broken into several different themed areas, and a seperate kids section that jutts out away from the park. EpiQ Coaster Pretty much the reason I came here - it's the worlds tallest indoor coaster, and maybe the fastest reverse launch in the world. The station has heaps of free station storage (Which is double sided for the unload station) Once dispatched you do small flat section, across the switch track and into a themed section with projection on the roof. The backwards launch takes a little section to kick in, but when it does - it really does. This is definitely a back row ride, the twisting at the top of the spike is intense, and you don't get much in the front of the train. On the way down the LSM's actually brake to make the rest of the layout (a clone of Lost Gravity) IMG_0428.mov I ended up doing this 5 times - there was no lines and the ops were happy to let me stay on / switch seats between cycles without leaving the station. Magma Blast This is probably the best themed S&S drop tower on the planet. It's themed to some sorta mission to the centre of the earth or something.. the ride at ground level is surrounded by massive LED screens - which accurately tie in with the ride system - it's a shot them drop.. the drop is from the very top of the tower. Also it is *very* hot at the top of the ride.. the air con doesn't reach that far. One and done for that I also did their flying theatre.. which was exceptional.
