Village Roadshow Them Parks have requested to extend the currency period of all three aspects of the existing development approval by four years.
The requested extension to the currency period is based on the following grounds.
Since the development approval was issued by the Council, turbulence in the local and national theme park sector has resulted in the delivery of the Outback Lodge attraction being delayed. The four (4) year extension is considered necessary in order to provide the Applicant with sufficient time to monitor the theme park market recovery and reach substantial commencement of the works.
The Applicant been delivering a range of new attractions at the Oxenford landholdings, including the HyperCoaster attraction at Movie World and the opening of Australia’s first Top Golf. As a result of these significant investments in the Applicant’s Oxenford landholding, it has been necessary for other capital works projects to be reviewed and delivery time frames realigned.
The approved development remains consistent with the development outcomes envisaged on the site by the Gold Coast City Plan.
