Both SE and Rivals were operating with two trains yesterday.

SE sewer/water effect working, as was the mist for entering/exiting the building.

I'm not sure whether it's humorous or depressing that every few months there is a new post about the effects finally working on Superman Escape again. How long until they stop working again and stay that way until the next maintenance period?

Heck even Regie is calling you out.  I'd go back through your posts to point out all the instances where you've claimed the high ground due to some knowledge or experience, but you're just not wo

One of the four horsemen of our parks being major ass. Just one more position to be filled.

I went on Superman yesterday and while all the on-ride effects seemed to be working, I was disappointed to see that the iconic queue line video has been removed. All the TV screens have been taken out.

That sucks. Don't think there's any footage of it sadly either due to their crazy loose item policy in the queue. :( The TV's were pretty ancient, so hopefully they're just upgrading to new screens and the video will stay intact.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure those TV’s were 2005 originals. I’m amazed they lasted as long as they did. All the mounting hardware they were attached to has been removed and the cabling seems to have been cut pretty crudely. So it seems unlikely the screens will return (at least in this location). I hope they can figure out a way to install new TV’s somewhere in the queue area as the video really helps to set up the story and is an iconic part of the attraction.

Fixed grammar issues

Standards for passing video have updated since 2005. They likely will use a different method and need new cables if they are replacing (or no cables).

With exception of power of course. I feel like we aren't changing power delivery anytime soon.

Nearly two decades is a long time for A/V equipment to run for eight hours every single day. Wouldn't be surprised if whatever media server they were using finally died, and they opted to do a full re-do to maximise the ROI on a new fit out. Newer media servers with newer, better TV's means they can do things like dynamic advertising placements, better integrate into existing A/V and also means they can finally update the ride safety video to better suit the times. If it were up to me I'd go full hog and really try and do something with the new screens that tries to entertain folks for as long as possible since they don't have their phones on them. I'm not sure if that means episodes of Superman or a bunch of easter eggs in a few mini-games - but the potential is there.

It doesn't need a media server.. a raspberry pi could have done the job. The cheaper option that makes sense is just add buckets to the platform and call it a day.

Despite riding quite a few times these school holidays I hadn’t even picked up they were gone 😅.

I hope new screens are installed at some point, redoing the safety video if they deem it be necessary and having other appropriate content would be great. Just hope they don’t hugely push advertising upcharge experiences on them.

Big difference in SLA's between commercial hardware and a $50 dongle.

Completely agree that commercial hardware (incl TVs) is required, but on a technicality a Raspberry pi is a media server and often used in commercial applications.

Exactly, a Raspberry Pi being used for media playback would be errr, a media server.

The question is, can you integrate it with automated turnstiles?

I work in live entertainment and broadcast - so I know a fair bit about entertainment technology.

Hopefully with a better grasp on the reality of that field than you do with theme parks ;)

I really love how a maintenance thread has turned into another personal attack. Real cool.

I mean, you put your credentials on the stand with every post. You claim to have expert knowledge in so many different fields as proof of why you're correct, in some cases even when you're arguing against the person whose literal job it is to do the thing you're arguing against.

It's entirely fair and reasonable that people will challenge those credentials if you enter them into evidence.

Never claimed expert knowledge.

Most of my posts here are personal opinion (on a discussion board) along with experiences while I’ve been to abroad.

I do work in entertainment (large scale events … my last big gig was Qantas’s 200th at the airport) and broadcast television (several networks along with live sport etc)

I'd go back through your posts to point out all the instances where you've claimed the high ground due to some knowledge or experience, but you're just not worth my time.

Simple fact is that you've portrayed yourself on these boards as a bit of a know it all, despite many folks who are genuine experts in their fields telling you why you're wrong. Your ego won't let you be humble, and honestly it's just getting a bit tiresome.

(Also nobody gives a shit about your credit count - that's just more ego getting in the way, and the fact you recorded that and uploaded it to try and prove how good you are is exactly the point i'm trying to make here.)

It's the very reason why no matter the topic, everyone just resorts to the running turnstile joke now... you've made yourself a lovely little hole and you're going to need to work very hard to dig yourself out of it.

I can't speak for others, but I can't take anything you say seriously anymore, and in general the only reason your posts are even replied to is usually to shoot them down with tangible evidence as to why you're incorrect.

The turnstiles joke is getting on in years.
Have a nice weekend.

Better yet, move it to SW, theme it to a dumping wave and call it the Wipeout. That should clear things up.

shall we place bets on if Doomsday will spend more of the year open or closed?

As you say that, the maintenance has been extended till the 30th of May. It means it will be closed for 113 days.
