Murrisippi Motors - Vintage Cars to be relocated to Rivertown area at Dreamworld

The engine is now electric and it has simulated noises

With Autopia I actually don't get this. It's supposed to be tomorrow land, electric vehicles would be on theme. Vintage cars the whole point is they're vintage cars and old cars have petrol motors.

And we settled it yesterday, it's not a relocation, one ride is being scrapped and a different ride is being built.

Its simple. DLR is too cheap to replace the cars with the new Hong Kong ones.

I probably was misleading. The electric cars have futuristic jetsons style fake noises.

RSR cars have the fake petrol engine feel/noises.

ie it is possible to have an electric vintage car with artificial vintage sounds and feel.

By that logic, if I buy a new road car somehow it’s the same car as the one I had before because they have the same spirit.

By that logic, you still have a (new) car. It still fulfils that function.

Just for completeness, the original storyline for Autopia wasn't the cars of tomorrow but the highways of tomorrow.

It was a weak theme and an excuse for attraction filler which has ultimately become a staple of the park, but it is what it is.

Would the highways of tomorrow not have electric cars on them?

This is important in helping me get on with my day.

I mean, the highways of TODAY do, but back then, WEDWAY was the only way they could achieve the electric transit and that didn't work well for Autopian highways.

... what do you mean back then?

The theme isn't 'back then'. The Theme is tomorrow!

Maybe after Jungle Rush they could round off the area, with another supporting family attraction - a boat ride around the existing river. Not the return of the paddle steamer, but perhaps something along the lines of Snake River Expedition at Cedar Point.

Believe it or not... this was briefly on display on the Tiger Island screen. It's the layout for MM, plus a few bits of concept art!

Bye bye to Motocoaster's entrance!

So it looks like the Murrisippi Motors station is directly opposite Motocoaster shop.

Going to be interesting to see how they handle two currently clashing themes (jungle buggies vs racing motorbikes).

hopefully, by getting rid of the motorbikes…

Surely they will retheme the motor coaster to blend a little better and not take away from the Rivertown entrance?
Rivertown Racers, Dirt Bike Derby, Murrisippi Motorcross?

There are plenty of easy to blend in themes they could go with, even if all they did was retheme that horribly tacky green building/entrance sign.
do we have any word about the possibility of this?

Thinking of the dingo racers at Aussie world, pretty cheap but fairly effective. They don’t need to spend a fortune, you don’t want it to take away from the Rivertown entrance, but just something to blend in nicely could be fairly affordable/easy to do…

we keep saying ‘get rid of it’ but they won’t, not for a long time. It’s still fairly popular with kids/families.

Would be cool if they mixed the old cars with the new.. even though they are probably different systems it would be sick

How difficult would it be to change the trains to a spinning coaster?

Anything’s possible! If DW are willing to pay and Intamin are willing to design a train to work with the correct wheel alignments for this track.

But for me it doesn’t even need to be a spinning train, it just needs be a comfortable one!

Depends how heavy the trains are!

True.

Have you ridden the Tornado spin coaster by Intamin?
