Jungle Rush Coaster

I took a look and you're right, a lot of people are wondering why a junior coaster isn't even as long as Tron. Just read that again.

Many comparisons to how this wouldn't wash in Magic Kingdom or Disneyland, and how Hagrid's motorbike is way better and my take away is that it sounds like the typical american disney fan entitlement where everything Disney builds has to be for them. It's a freaking Junior coaster. For kids. Some of whom don't enjoy the longer bigger faster attractions.

Nobody is hating on Gadget's coaster, or Barnstormer. And this is longer than both of them.

So then we come back to the complaint that it's what.... themed too well? fuck me enthusiasts are a steaming pile of dogshit.

See it feels like you're deliberately missing the point now to be antagonistic.

Maybe have a coffee, and reflect on the conversation and see if you can spot a difference between this and Gadget's/Barnstormer, that might affect the way these rides are perceived.

Spoiler: it involves themeing, and how the level of themeing changes expectations.

Objection your honor, asked and answered.

*(The second quote is obviously me. I grabbed it from the post above, rather than paging back to get the quote from the original reply. I just want to be clear Joz didn't say that as it implies in this quote as that's obviously misquoting someone and that would be against the forum rules. I can't edit it as editing doesn't allow new quotes, so here we are).

With Sliding Sleighs is that yeah its a kiddy coaster, but because the theming is better and it's part enclosed that naturally will draw interest from older visitors who perhaps wouldn't have considered it.

I totally skipped Barnstormer at MK because you can see the whole thing and it's just a regular kiddy coaster, but certainly adult visitors could be fooled into thinking Sliding Sleighs is another Grizzy Mountain type ride and might perceive it to be a D ticket or better.

I think in the long term it may end up being oversubscribed.

And yeah it's a bit short, it's like 25 seconds from top of lift to brakes, versus almost a minute and a half on Slinky Dog Dash.

I feel they could have done a 2nd lift, same intensity level but padded the ride out a bit.

Looks like you go up the turntable, drop down backwards, traverse the first half of the layout backwards, go up to the turntable, go through the second bit of the layout forwards, and that’s it.
Layout looks pretty short but the interaction with vintage cars is at least nice. Also looks to quite a bit of opportunity for show scenes beyond the turntable - that show building is certainly sizeable and most of that first half looks like it takes place inside it.

Not necessarily. As the inclined turntable is the first part of the coaster, you could either not rotate and drop backwards, or it could rotate to the right (or left, but that would take the train outside and straight back to the station). So technically there are many ways they could operate this ride. You are going forwards and backwards. The train could leave the station forwards or backwards depending on how it arrived. If they wanted, they could send you through the same section of track again, but facing the opposite direction. And if they really wanted, you could stay on this coaster all day without re-enterting the station because they are using this turtable at least twice.

The track is definitley shorter than I was expecting, but with over half of it being inside, I have hope this could be an incrediblty themed coaster. And just because it's short in track length, doesn't mean the ride necessairly will be. If there are things happening around you while you're on the inclined lift hill, the ride time could be decent.

We've got to remember this coaster is targeted for families (kids the grandparents), so it was never going to be this extreme ride, but as already mentioned by others, there are some awesome family coasters around the world and we might just be getting one.

As for the overall map of the land, it's great to see the vintage cars will have a decent track length (hopefully some aweosme themign and scenes. I'm very excited by the scale of the building that Jungle Rush will have. I was expecting there to be more pathways through the land and not just one main thoroughfair. But seeing the layout of the rides, I understand why there isn't.

I also really did think they were going to utilise the former TOT building for this land, so I hope they're planning on demolishing it because its an eyesore.

Jungle Rush is almost 530m approx. long in plan view, for context MotorCoaster is around 580 long in plan view.  When it comes out of the wash with JR's track has many undulations, and MC is close to flat so this will have a bearing on the final track length.

Quite surprised that the Tower of Terror building and Billabong are not going. I wonder if any of the Murrisippi is being reclaimed near the Vintage Cars (grey line is the paths by the looks of it), apart from Jungle Rush passing over it at one point. Maybe they will build a boardwalk over the water?

Be interesting to see what theming they have in store and who is designing/implementing it.

There’s only a handful of people with the specialised skills to do it properly and haven’t heard a peep of this project from any of them.

Apparently the contract has gone to the same guy who did Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Next Generation.

Kidding.

Awesome gif @WalleyWorld that explains exactly what I was thinking very clearly. And as you say, there’s an opportunity to vary the coaster experience (something they might do more of in off peak) and you could potentially re-enter the station the opposite way. Maybe they will complete the red circuit multiple times so that you travel in the opposite direction and if they design show scenes a certain way, they could tell a different story depending on the way you travel.

This is definitely something that would get me through the gates a few times a year.

Personally, I don't like to leave a station backwards.  For your first ride, not knowing you are going to go backwards makes a ride more enjoyably.   I liken it to if you turned scooby around at the start.

If the ride is made & detailed with the ability to do so in mind, though, it could work.

If the cross hatching you did to indicate the building is correct, both the forwards and backwards sections of track (per Walley's animation) will go outside the station, so observers will see it running both forwards and backwards prior to boarding.
