New Scenic Skyway

So Nev and I headed up to Katoomba today to check out the new Skyway at Scenic World. First thing we found is the new entrance to the complex is open and features a long walkway into the new foyer which serves as a line to buy tikets for the attractions. The car park was quite full today and thus the line to get tickets was quite long. Funny thing is if you actualy go up to where the Skyway departs from you can just buy your ticket there and jump straight on! The new Skyway itself, like the 'Flyway' (what a crap new name) is a nice piece of engineering. It features the same sort of design in cables and winch system as the Flyway and the cabin has the same "Ikea Style" colour scheme as Nev put it. The ride itself is extremely smooth and goes almost to the other side now. Signs indicate that another station on the other side of the valley will be opening soon. Now for the big magical glass floor... VERY BIG LETDOWN. As opposed to a huge glass floor on the entire cabin that magicaly turns from opaque to clear over the valley you get a thin 2 foot wide section that runs along a raised section in the middle of the cabin. This floor gradualy piece by piece turns clear the moment you depart the station, hardly a WOWING effect. In our opinion it would have been much better had they done the entire floor or at least made this section the same level as the rest of the 'normal' floor. All in all a nice addition to the place even if it lacks the 'Scenic Railway style thrill factor' of the old Skyway. As a side note there was a work platform/car on the Orphan Rocker track today, I'll attach a photo later...
