even if that is the case, it doesn't explain why it wasn't done earlier to be ready for now

i mean that’s true but businesses do tend to hire seasonals (especially for summer) around the time holidays do start, so it could explain it. either way, businesses are going to make financially smart decisions.

It's probably staff costs and keeping the wage bill low.

I feel like we've pretty much been saying this for a while. they might be missing some business, but how much would have contributed towards extra revenue if many of those folk are passholders anyway? Pool and plant operating costs go up, staff costs go up. you need more cleaners, more gate staff, more F&B and Retail staff, plus the lifeguards and other team members that go with operating the park 7 days a week. On days where attendance isn't assured, that's expensive.

I think they've taken the view that they can afford to not compete with WNW in the offseason, and while the school dates are a bit of a misstep, overall, there is no guarantee they'd make money this week opening the park up, once all costs are accounted for.

I think they've erred a little here by just taking the generic "public school finishing date" as their yardstick for opening 7 day operations.

I agree with you but

There's lots of things our parks do that we disagree with - but that's just our opinions and doesn't make them wrong.
