Splash for Cash @ The Beach

So have you guys seen Wonderland's TV ad yet which advertises the opening of The Beach? I saw it yesterday during the day. It shows a whole bunch of computer animated $50 notes sliding down the slides and diving into the main pool. It mentions the opening of The Beach and the Splash for Cash promo where you could win $1,000,000. The thing that annoys me is that on the various posters they are advertising it as 'The New' Beach. The fact is there is really nothing new about it apart from the fact that 2 slides have been painted and there are new huts. A new attraction would have justified the word 'New' or a MAJOR refurb but as it is they did not even re-paint all of the slides. The Splash for Cash promo would have tied in brilliantly with a new slide. Just one new slide - that's all we ask! Oh Wonderland, so close yet so far...

The Splash For Cash Promo will go from the 27 of September to the 12 of October. So yes it will happen more than once.
that date is the chance to buy ur coke bottle and actually send it in the barrel. there is only one shot at it. the park keeps the million if no one wins it and let me rephrase my last post here. there are 9000 bottles not 3000 so really no one will win id be surprised if wonderland even has the million to give away.

Of course they'd have the million, but they're not counting on giving it away. That's where the odds come in. If, as Nightshifter says, they have 9000 bottles, then there's a 1:9000 chance that the million will be picked up. Wonderland is hardly taking much of a risk, considering also that the sole purpose of it is to get people into the park, which means probably at the end of the day, the park is ahead - regardless of how much they have to pay in prizes.

As Psycho said by law, Wonderland must do eveything "right". I'm not sure on the details, but I don't think there's any way that they can underwrite a prize they're offering. It's not like when someone wins the million on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Channel Nine can just back out of the deal. They'll be licensed/authorised to hold the competition, and I'm sure they'll have various officials present who ensure it's all done properly.

:D Wonderland would have to have an official licence from the relevant gaming authority. Under law an official from that office would have to had gone over Wonderland's legal documents which they would have had done by a private company that specialises in those things. As for the competition itself? Very smart move by WS and should generate some huge cash flows for them in the duration of the competition. Think about it. What happens to people when they play a game whereby they have a chance to win substantial dollars? *Gambling* These people will probably dump even more money into the parks games and such. Besides the fact of attracting more punters to park, you should also take into account the added revenue from the other games, the food concessions and such. Not to mention the new *Marvel* lines they have. Cheers, Michael

It's common practice for bodies organising these types of competitions to insure against somebody walking away with the major prize. I think you'll find that WS has at least the majority of that sum insured with Lloyds or a similar company. The insurance company would have had a good look at the competition structure and mechanics prior to formulating a premium for the policy.

Just got back from a hectik day @ Wonderland Sydney.. Liam and I spent most of the day at The Beach talking to Billy. He said that the money isn't coming from Wonderland, the million is coming from the Coca~Cola company. The money is under the coke bottle cap as a little computer chip. We took a ride on the Bush Beast, we waited for 10 minutes. It hasn't changed much after about 10 weeks down.. It was still rough as ever. It was hard enough for me to take care of Liam's digital camera in my pocket to stop it shaking around too much. Luckily, it survived without any damage although Liam, having a injury on the bottom half of his left leg. There is a photo he is going to post soon of it lol. Also in Goldrush, some (or should I say, one) building is being refurbished. The iron roof has been painted PINK and the wooden poles and supports have been painted a very light LEMON YELLOW. Liam took a picture of it in the beginning of the day. But when I passed it when he left (I was looking for my sister and her friends), the bottom walls have been covered with a plastic sheet with coloured bubbles on it. I'd have to say it looks like a Dippin' Dots stall! But in my opinion, it doesn't suit Goldrush very well. Space Probe was open for the first hour of the day. Side 3 was the only operating side when we arrived. But due to the high winds at around 11:00am, Space Probe was closed down for the whole day. --Just some lil' information for ya'll--
