Now where have I seen a roof like that ;) I think that looks noticeably cheap and bare, hopefully in the future when it proves a success they properly integrate it in with the park and glitz it up a bit, IMO a "Showbiz" theme would be cool, go for a similar style to the theme of Hollywood Dream at Universal Osaka.

I don't understand why peeps pay for entry then wanna pay extra to play stupid games. Thanks for the video BTW.
Probably the same reason why people pump money into those chocolate machine things (these things) when there more often than not is a vending machine nearby with a decent sized chocolate for a fraction of the cost. Would be nice to see it done up properly if it is to become permanent, the dodgems need something painted on the wall in my opinion. A city side walk painting or something would improve the look from the black that is currently there.

To answer some questions, and questionable statements made here:- Why have an arcade? .... Because it's fun. Not necessarilly your idea of fun, but not every one is old enough, or tall enough to enjoy what you may define as fun. Arcade Games help to fill that gap. Bumper cars are cool. The new bumper cars are so cool that in the mornings almost everyone that is on duty are "testing" them. On a setting of 5- The maximium- it is possible to continuously power slide these things in a doughnut. This is due to the cars having steel wheels at the rear, as opposed to the rubber wheels on old model stuff. *Points finger at old stuff* There is no overhead power pole or overhead power grid. All the power is done from the floor. How ever- For some PPl, bumper cars mashing into each other can be intimidating. You may like this- (I do) but many people don't. For these people suitable entertainment nearby is a good thing. I think Intencity is where it is for that purpose, and you can't blame them for that.

I think what DW rulz is getting at is that you can play Arcade games anywhere these days. When I'm at a theme park I'd rather spend time doing the stuff I cant do elsewhere like riding roller coasters or seeing stunt shows.
Your spot on Gazza. If i wanted to play games I've got Playtime at Highpoint shopping Centre (a 20 min bus ride) or Galatic Circus at Crown Casino. Edited by dreamworld_rulz

I know I'm like DW rulz, I don't get the whole playing video games in a theme park thing either. I like to do stuf that I can't do anywhere else, check out the unique things in the park. Having said that, my best mate played DDR at Disneyland and pretty much everypark we've gone to at least a small part of the day is spent in the park's arcade. The real kicker? We're never the only people in them. Its not my ideal way to spend a time in a park, but there are plenty of people who are happy to spend the extra bit of cash to play video games.

If it's a hot day or raining, going into Intencity will be a brilliant way of getting out of the elements. It's something that won't shut down with inclement weather, works for all ages & isn't something lthat would get repetitive (you could have a different experience in some sense each time). Ok so the games will cost money and you can do them outside of a park - but I think the idea works for the above reasons. I know I'm looking forward to going on this style of dodgems too. Movie World is doing a brilliant job all-round at the moment & I can't wait for what they have planned next.

Yeah, I had a go on the Bumper Cars today and they are a whole lot of fun. I have to say that I wasn't impressed when I went on the ones at Dreamworld, but besides the obvious lack of devotion to prettying up the walls and all, Movieworld has a superior product. They are a great ride and I really enjoyed them. Now, for the next issue. The Intencity area in general and the County Games. I'll briefly touch upon each seperate because they are in a way quite different. To those who question the point of adding Intencity, the place was packed. Yeah, you can probably play those types of games anywhere, but if you really enjoy them (as a lot of children in particular do), how often can you spend half a day playing a bunch of games and testing your skill for little tickets and spend the other half of the day hitting some of the best rides on the coast? For a lot of the people this is a really enjoyable opportunity, and for Movieworld, another outlet to rake in the cash. As for the County Games. I am going all out here and saying that I spent two hours at these today. No, Movieworld wasn't lucky enough to snag a whole bunch of my money (hehe - though I did walk away with a five buck Bugs Bunny that costs 20 at the wB store) but it was really entertaining to watch people having a go. And what seperates this from fairground rubbish is that in many cases you do actually have a chance of winning, and in quite a few cases people walk away with something. Naturally, each game has a different angle that ultimately sees Movieworld make money, but it is quite an enjoyable area to spend time and stretch out the day.

I think it's important to remember that not everybody who visits a park comes from an area that has these gaming machines. The last games arcade in my home town closed down when I was around 8yrs old. If parents managed to take the family on holidays, these would be something new, interesting, and not readily available elsewhere for them.

A.B.S. picture of Australian population distribution How many of these dots are people that live anywhere near an arcade? As to the themeing and lack thereof:- Watch this space in 2008. I suspect that John Menzies will take a personal interest here, and I look forward to seeing what he finally gives the nod to. The guy has high standards and he doesn't stuff around. ;)

^But there are other places in the park thrill rides could go, why not have both? It always makes me laugh when people say stuff like "The space should be used for XXXXXXXX", I mean if the park were using all its land and a ride had nowhere else to go then fair enough, but the park is nowhere near that point so there is no need to waste money demolishing buildings when they could just build it in an empty space. Where else can they put an arcade? I bet if they built the arcade somewhere else in the park you would be saying a thrill ride should go there too. I'd love to see them build another thrilling attraction, but both parks pretty much have the same attendance so I dont actually think there is a need for 6 versus 6 in terms of the number of thrill rides if you get what I mean.
