The fire sale continues. An email has just gone out from Village offering a 72 hour flash sale on Premium annual passes for just $149 - that's another $50 off the multi-buy sale they only dropped at the start of the week

Would hazard a guess this is a targeted offer for someone that has not renewed or purchased a pass for a bit, I did not receive this email nor is it offered directly on ThemeParks.com.au. If you wish to share the link that would be appreciated, know a few mates that would take up a pass at this price.

This does speak to how desperate they are currently, when they ran a similar promotion in 2023 it was $149 for a 4 Park Pass (excludes night events) and no photo pass.

Spy Chase has a bigger cast, more vehicles and special effects than Police Academy. If it's not as good as Police Academy, that's a creative problem not a budgetary one.

Yeah that's just wrong. Watch an old video of Police Academy to see how many special effects there were. It was on another level completely

Yeah I think you're right. A friend of mine got it and sent it to me - I never received it despite not having held VRTP for a while (and getting all their 'usual' promos).

I see you've already shared the link, sorry for late reply.

VRTP have updated the renewal offer, $179 down from $189 and including the 12M Photo Pass.

I've also noticed they have taken down all the wording mentioning the perks only lasting until June 30 from their advertising, perhaps gearing up for them to be permanent.

Note the terms and conditions still list June 30.

Dropping it from the advertising but keeping it in the T&Cs is a great way to get an ACCC complaint for deceptive practices... so i'm sure they intended to remove it from the T&Cs too.

Doubling down on the price reduction and removing the 'limited time' call to action seems right - i've no doubt they increased sales with these recent sales - and if they are gearing up to go on the market, they will want to have a nice looking ticket sales history.

It's working, I grabbed the $149 deal, haven't been to the VRTP parks for a few years. Found an okay ride availability window (notwithstanding unexpected closures) in the maintenance schedule and booked Carnivale.

If BGH is selling it's stake (I say that speculatively), it would be interesting to see who jumps in.

Competition between the parks is healthy, but this feels less like competition and more like a group sprint to the bottom. As a guest, I’d rather see them competing over who has the best park, not who can be the cheapest.

I'm quite sure most people don't see this as a race to the bottom. both parks learned that lesson. Dreamworld is actively working on raising their pass pricepoint to $150 too.

Village had compounded price rises for multiple years, taking the pricing to a level some considered too high for their offering - especially since their offering has degraded significantly over the same time period.

If they were selling enough passes at the $250 headline, they wouldn't have gone on sale. A $180 price point is both competitive, while maintaining the 'premium' pricepoint above Dreamworld which is quickly catching up.

As i've said for years, people need to vote with their wallets - and the very fact that the company is reducing their prices and appears to be making those reductions permanent demonstrates that those votes have been counted.
