Forum Upgrades – December 2025

As you'll notice, there's some pretty major changes to the forums today.

Importantly, login is now via your email address rather than username. Your password remains unchanged. If for whatever reason you are unsure of the email account you signed up with, then I'd recommend getting in touch and we can look into it for you.

It was a bit of an abrupt transition today; it was meant to be a bit more gradual, but a few things behind the scenes pushed it forward and here we are.

The first thing you'll probably notice is the site is a whole lot faster and we won't be prone to those periods of painfully slow loading, which had become more frequent in recent months.

There's also lot of new features that I've barely gotten my head around with this latest version of the forum software, but for now it should at least feel a bit more vibrant and down the track we'll be implementing a few new features.

For the time being, the main site is down. It's a slightly larger project to get up and running again but it will happen. Today's rather sudden upgrade for the forums meant that it just wasn't possible to get everything done at the same time. There's no immediate plans for me to resume editorial content, but the site will be back soon enough and we'll hopefully find a way to breathe new life into the site and give new voices and content creators an opportunity to share more freely with this community.

If anyone encounters any bugs or issues with the new forum then I'd invite you to share them in the Community Feedback forum.

Loving the nice clean feel of the new forum. Thanks for the upgrade Richard.

No issues so far but I did find that the multiquote feature doesn't automatically insert a line break between each quote so you can comment after each quoted reply - I found there is an "Enter" arrow at the bottom right of each quote I could use to insert line breaks - Not a bug or issue now I found the solution but posting here so others who encounter the same issue know how to fix.

It's a bit weird seeing the forum look so different - but I'll probably get used to it eventually.

Seems everything else works the same as it did before apart from the email system, no issues so far

You might notice the site is running a bit slower again. This is temporary while the the image cache is rebuilt on the main site. Rest assured it’s unrelated to the server lag issues we’ve had in recent months, and everything should be running smoothly in a few days.

My biggest issue with the Ads is sometimes when clicking "Next unread topic -->" I will get a whole page ad instead. When clicking the X to close, the forum can't find what unread topic it was sending me to.

Edit:
It literally just did it to me.

I also find that clicking the dot next to the unread content post list, instead of taking me to the oldest reply I haven't read, it takes me to the last reply, so if it's been a hot minute since I visited, I have to scroll back quite a ways to find where I last read. The forums put a nice divider to show me where that is, but if it can do that, why can't it take me to that first post so I can read in order?

I just click the thread title and it takes me to the first unread post.

But the website has become sloooooooowwwww. Sometimes taking 3-4 minutes to load a page. I think it's significantly slower than the old version. It's like being on dial up internet in 1996.
