Food near movieworld

Recommended Posts

G'day Guys, I am going to gold coast next week to hit the parks. Can anyone tell me if its worthwhile leaving movieworld for lunch or just stay there and put up with themepark food? Not sure if there is anywhere nearby to get meals. This is the first time we are renting a car and not using buses. Thankyou Dean

There are a whole bunch of food places on the other side of the Freeway (McDonalds, KFC, Dominos, Eagle Boys, Subway plus a number of independent places) I would say it isn't worth it, for the amount of time you will waste could be better spent getting the full value out of your park ticket. As far as food goes at MW, it's overpriced, but pretty decent. The best quality/value can be had by eating at the parks sit down restaurant, Ricks Cafe Americain.

I know that at Wet'n'Wild you're allowed a 10 minute pass out (to get something from the car) which is not going to be long enough to get over to the food on the other side of the freeway. The only way you'd make it is by going through a drive through and then you're not allowed to bring it into the park anyway. It's much easier to just get some food in the park during the day. Also it's the only place around there that you can get Churros...mmm!

As far as food goes at Movie World, As Gazza has said Ricks does a great All you can eat buffet. However down at the main entrance you will find Stars Cafe, where they serve a MEAN Cobb Loaf for $12.95. From memory of working there a while back they have Butter Chicken, Chilli con carne, Chicken Caesar, Creamy Rattatoulie and Thai Chicken. These also have salad + wedges on the side and are very filling. They also have things like Croissants, Sandwiches and Foccacia's. Not to mention the mean cakes.
