Just a quick update HWSD/Park tv commercial was shot yesterday before the park opened and on the shows set after the park opened so i got a chance to be a part of it all, Show wise i thought the sets looked good last week but now very very nice they have added more detail most of it is done except for the left hand side. The show also looks very good being able to see it up close and personal the loudness of the cars also adds to the shows atmosphere. Cadboy and others The cantilevered car jump is very much like the car on PASS that got blown up and did the flip except this concept is the car does a long length jump off one of the set's roofs. how it works is everyone has seen the track for it in the photo's that had been published well since then the set that covers the track is now complete so you dont know were the track is there now. A shell of one of the evo's is attached to a arm which is on wheels and is attched to the track allows the car to seemlesly jump from one building to another infront of the big screen. Its hard to explain but once you see the show the effect is pulled off very well. Set construction wise im not sure who but my best guess would be FX illusion. We will soon find out.

Car on the roof that would be the cantilevered car jump it uses one of the set roofs as a jump but they have been doing a lot of work with the special effect the other day if you had of seen it, it was in mid air aka part way through its jump and had been stopped. They are getting the effect right so it doesn't look as if its just a car on a stick flying across the air. They have to make the jump run smooth at a correct speed. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would have seen what happens when the old PASS cantilevered car flip didn't go to plan how it would struggle to turn and drop sometimes of it would go really slowly while it was doing the flip.

It's a pretty massive full page article in Thursday Focus Page 33, but I really dont have the patience to type it up, but I will type some, cause im great like that. World-renowned stuntman Gavin Coleman is tearing through the Gold COast hinterland at breakneck speed in a charged up Chrysler 300C, missing foliage by centimetres as he is chased by four hummers filled with M16-wielding baddies. -unrelated Stuff- "It was incredible because within three months (of filming a movie) i had got a call from Michael about doing a Hollywood inspired stunt show" Michael is Movie World's creative director Michael Croaker, who co-incidently had the same idea. The result is the $10 Million show Hollywood Stunt Driver- One of only three shows of its kind in the world - which has a soft opening this week followed by the official launch on Boxing Day. As the stunt show's driving coordinator, it is Coleman's job to bring the "edge of your seat" exhiliration and fast-paced energy from a movie set to a daily live-action show. Croaker and Coleman are aware there are big expectations after Hollywood Stunt Driver's predecessor Police Academy enjoyed a record breaking 17-year reign with more than 18,000 shows attracting an audience of 25.2 million. The seating capacity has increased from 1400 with Police Academy to 2000 for Hollywood Stunt Driver, which will be performed on a deeper stage space 80m by 40m. Coleman has worked for 16 years on Police Academt and says that they were still tweaking the show until the end. He was the only person to have player every single Police Academy roll- Even the female officer when all five women were sick. He says Police Academy was only expected to run for five years. "For our bussiness to be succesfull, we have to be evolutionary. The Police Academy movie franchise petered out, but in spite of that we built a successful show" Coleman said. "No one expected the life span . It was an unexpected success for so long but we wanted to fo something more relevent for today's market. The skill level in this show will be up five to six nothches." The show takes audiences behind the scenes on a movie and there is a director, an assistant director and several cameras and crew who pretend to be filming a live-action sequence. -Lots of unimportant stuff- The other obvios stars of the show are the cars- $70 000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10s that have been modified to be rear wheel drive and include race seats and harnesses and roll cages. Their four cylinder engines generate 300 horsepower . Coleman has extensively researched movie car chases sequences from classics Ronin, Fast and Furious, Transporter and Transporter Two. That's all im going to write, most we already know anyway if someone wants to put in the effort and type it all you're welcome to.

Passholders would have gotten an email for a preview at 9am on 23rd of December. Only 200 tickets, so be quick! From a gap in the fence you could see down the northern side of the grandstand, and they have indeed made the set look more weathered with streaks/stains running down etc. When the practice sessions were going on, the show sounded very loud from outside, and generates a lot of smoke that drifts out across the Dirty Harry outdoor seating section and the boot hill area.

I didn't get the email as I switched ISP's, hence its no longer accessible. :'( I thought just changing my account on MyFun would correct it. How should I fix it up?

Regarding the entrance there was originally ideas for re themeing it to tie in with the show but from what iv been told that won't be happening. So i assume just a sign but i think you will find the inside area before you enter the arena will be themed to the show. lately it has just been a giant mess with rubbish and construction left overs. Those attending the annual pass sneak peak will be in for a great show, from what I've been told it will be a great morning. Also from what iv heard the show will also be running on Wed closed Thurs (Christmas day) and official opening on Friday looking to be a very action packed Friday also, with the Jet rescue launch.

hi all, Saw the show this morning..even though we entered at 9.00am the show didnt start for about an hour, but I can say it was WELL worth the wait. Also movie world put on a little brekky, there was pastries and drinks all free of charge at the entrance to the show and it was very well appreciated that they went out of there way to do that. Ok now onto the show: First up the set is very detailed, painted to be a "little corner of Italy" and it was very convincing with small shops painted on the bordering walls around the main show space, little Italian style balconies here and there, and that VERY detailed backdrop of the street situated behind the center screen (which I must say is pretty big). The special effects are pretty cool and some were unexpected, the jump over the roof effect was very well done, even though the car that was suppose to look like it was doing the jump was a little out of time. The cars also look amazing and sleek (the sounds that come out of them are so loud and strong sounding) and there's also a bike in it but the stunts done on it were pretty much what was done in PA (I suppose there's only so much you can so on a motorbike hahah) I wont give away any of the storyline cause you will have to go and experience it all for yourself. It very much so exceed my expectations of the show and after loving Police Academy for so many years my expectations were pretty high. Well done Movie World for bring back what movie worlds suppose to be "showing the magic of movie making" (hint lol) Also there was media their so you might catch a bit on channel nine news tonight or tomorrow night. zane.

Re Ash's question...the entrance isn't done yet..just some battens where a sign will presumably go. The waiting courtyard has had a bit of a touch up, with red, green and white coloured shade sails, a stone patterned floor, and newly rendered walls with brick showing through in patches, plus a few 40s style italian posters. Spoilers:

Ok, so basically you are watching the filming of some action movie to do with a gem heist or something like that....that plot doesn't really play much of a central role, since the plot is more about the production of the film. At the start you get introduced to the food chain of people who work on the film (Cameraman, producer, director etc) and for comic relief there is the agro film studio boss who comes in via his webcam on the big screen hurling abuse. Further comic relief is provided by his bumbling son, who is a stagehand, always stumbling in and ruining shots. The back of the set looks very good, and there is an incredible amount of detail on the Roman style bridge at the back of the set. The sides of the set are painted on....well done, but still not a substitute for 3D fittings IMO. I did think that the car park bit in the far corner looked pretty ordinary though. We didn't get to see the full show.. stuff like the man on fire and the 'real' jumps (you might have seen these in the preview vid) were missing. There also appeared to be vents in the ground for an explosion in front of the petrol bowsers on set. As for the stuff that was in the show...well a ton of drifting a precision driving between about 4 police cars and that rally car. There were cars up on two wheels, and motorbikes on one wheel. There was a rather humorous moment when one of the police cars is shot at, which causes it to fall apart in the middle...the front half drives away, but the back half is wheeled away by 3 people. As for the climax of the show, and this is a spoiler spoiler....Basically the stage-hand gets into one of the cars...looses control and drives wildly around the set, goes up the ramp onto the roof, drives across, the car then leaps through the air (using that hidden track), crashes through the side of another building which causes an explosion and all the shutters to blow out, and then the car rolls out unharmed through the front doors of the building. They failed with the cues though, as the car jumped before the real car had made it into the little building, so you saw both at once. Hope they get that one fine tuned. Overall, pretty good so far, I'll reserve my judgement until I see the full show.

Well im sure those of you who attended todays show would have been pretty impressed, after seeing bits and pieces over the last few weeks i have been rather excited to see the show. those who got invited to the media revue would have also enjoyed that little preview and interview session which was also a good insight to the show and its backround. I got to see some of todays show very good in my opinion, after seeing police academy on a day to day basis i also had high expectations as did a lot of staff as to wether it would fill the shoes of police academy, i recon it did it quite well. well done Warner Bros. Movie World for bring back the meaning to this parks name. If you read Gazzas spoiler he mentioned about a few things that you can tell are there but didnt happen today you will see that on boxing day and in the future. as for the car jump timing that was mention by every tech guy who works on the show today that it needs some adjusting and it didnt go well, from when i had seen it last week perfect timing so seeing its first public show without stopping starting again over and over in training there was bound to be a few hickups, But after todays show training again comenced to fine tune some things, Also from what iv been told dont rush to see the show tommorrow as there is no soft opening but she will be up and running on boxing day ready for a maximum capacity day. Not looking forward to it.

Wow, the theming on the main part is to die for! I love it! It even makes up for the painted on side walls. At least they still look decent. The stunts look great and I'm glad they've put some funny parts into it. I just wish the explosion was a bit bigger though. Is it the only one? I am heading down tomorrow to hopefully see it live, and if it isn't open I will venture down Boxing Day -- although will have to see a morning show since I'm working in the afternoon (double time and a half  ). Does anyone know how many shows will be shown on Boxing Day? Hopefully there's a few morning ones. Also thanks to Gavin for answering my question in more detail. I was hoping an entrance like this though: 012808-ush004-sm.jpg

Good to hear other peoples responses and thoughts on the show, I hope public opinion will match yours. All I will say is the Lights Motors Action show at Disney really lacks any decent story, charm or comedy. What makes it a watchable and pretty decent show is the amazing stunts, technology and trickery in use. Without these it would just be boring and bland and just not that impressive... ...that's all I'm going to say. As for the cars, I thought they made next to no sound, in fact the music was louder than them in most parts.

Just a thought I had, but I think some much needed humour could be injected into the show if the bumbling stage hand actually caused some proper chaos. Ok, so he gets into the car at the end and causes that finale, which was pretty good IMO, but I think it would be better if he caused some actual accidents and explosions throughout the show.....the pattern I saw was that "oh no, he wandered into the shot, we'll have to shoot again"....cue some more driving around and drifting. Perhaps he could wander out onto set at an inopportune time, so one of the drivers has to avoid him at the last minute, and from there you could cue one of the stunts. For instance the the motorcyclist might swerve to avoid him, crash into something, which causes the motorcyclist to catch on fire, that way it is a bit more unexpected.
