Aussie World will soon have an 'occasional' Sunbus service..

Route 615 - Now servicing Aussie World!

** The start date of this service change is dependent on completion of the Bruce Highway, Palmview access upgrade and is currently scheduled for Monday 28 July.

Selected route 615 services will travel to Aussie World and the Ettamogah pub. This is the first time that TransLink buses will travel to these tourist attractions.

Two services per day in both directions will visit the theme park, seven days a week.

You can catch the selected route 615 services from any of the regular bus stops throughout Mooloolaba, Alexandra Heads and Maroochydore, or transfer from the train at Landsborough station. New route 615 timetable

Two services per day in both directions will visit the theme park seven days a week.......

This is a little more regular than just "occasional"..............

Great idea and good for the park though.

As the resident public transport nerd ocassional is the word.

Regular would mean hourly at least or something.

What we have here is an occasional diversion of the standard 615.

Really?? Even if we could argue that these services, that are to operate twice a day, 7 days a week, 352 days a year, would become a "regular" service?? That does seem the right word usage to me....occasional IMHO would be only be on public holidays or school holidays.....these new changes are a direct change to a pre existing route that is to occur twice a day 7 days a week-its a permanent daily extension to this service. I think here that "regular" is far more appropriate than ocassional and all that both words imply. Its a great case of semantics really, something that pops up quite "regularly" on these boards, as opposed to occasionally!!! Lol!

I'm surprised this didn't get a mention anywhere -

Riders forced to flee stalled roller coaster

August 03, 2014: Terrified riders are forced to climb down from the Nitro ride at US adventure park Six Flags after it stalls at its peak, 70m above the ground.

Terrified riders have been forced to climb down from a rollercoaster in the US after it stalled 70m above ground.

Footage shows the terrified group clutching tightly to the railing of the Nitro ride at adventure park Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey, as they navigated its steep tracks to the ground.

One of the group is overheard commenting on the "beautiful view", seemingly trying to make light of the situation.

But others cannot hide their distress.

"Oh my God," one woman says.

"Everyone's holding on for dear life."

As you can see, the lift hill isn't that steep, they aren't on the track but a purpose built (and obviously safe) staircase, and people were so scared, they took the opportunity to film it. It didn't sound like any were distressed, just a little wowed by the whole situation. Mainstream media does it again! (and if you didn't click, the article comes from 9MSN)

Admittedly though, Vekoma SLCs aren't exactly regarded nicely no matter how well maintained they are - although the Arkham train has certainly softened it up a little.

AUTHORITIES say a roller coaster carrying 24 people has become stuck near the top of the ride and fire officials are trying to rescue them at Six Flags America in Maryland.

Prince George’s County Fire officials were called to The Joker’s Jinx roller coaster at the park just before 2:30pm Sunday. No injuries have been reported.

Assistant Fire Chief Paul Gomez says the riders are sitting upright near the top of the ride. He says it will likely take a few hours to get them down.

It’s not clear what caused the ride to get stuck. Telephone and email messages left for a Six Flags spokeswoman were not immediately returned.

Six Flags’ website says the ride goes 96.5km per hour and turns upside down four times.

Think the camera on Giant Drop was added for the show as it's dated 2010. It also shows TOT with the enclosed tunnel but with the forward facing car -- I thought the tunnel was added for TOT2?

There was a period when they would close the ride in the afternoons whilst the tunnel was being constructed, so for a couple of months you could ride fowards with a half built tunnel/steel rings around you.

I was just wondering, what is it that causes rides like Arkham Asylum and the Cyclone to be so much more rougher than Superman Escape or Jet Rescue?

Also depends on the wheel steering system and the amount of gap between the wheel assemblies and the track (spring loaded wheels help)

On junior suspended coasters you can look up and clearly see a couple of cm between the side wheels and the track. During the ride you can see how the train bangs from side to side.
