Umm dude... Sega World Sydney had a Shooting Dark Ride(Ghost Hunters)....

That's true. Although Ghost Hunters was a different style of shooting ride compared to the type we are talking about. It was essentially a 'moving video game'. The individual ride cars moved around a track but you weren't shooting at objects and sets, rather you were shooting at computer graphics that were being projected onto the screen of your vehicle

Did anyone see the article on page 8 of the Gold Coast Bulletin today? It had a couple of comments from Tony Lines (from VRTP HR) who commented that interactive 3D attractions have experienced massive growth and demand internationally, and that this technology should be coming to our shores shortly.

I just looked it up.... "Australian Amusement and Recreation President Tony Lines said" so not a VRTP spokesperson Basically until the stage where VRTP announce the new attraction it all remains speculation...

Correction he is both. A little bit about him One Day Holiday. Tony Lines is the Human Resources Manager for the Movie World Business Unit of Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) and provides HR advice to Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet'n'Wild Water World, Australian Outback Spectacular, Paradise Country and Warner Roadshow Movie World Studios. He has been with the VRTP group of companies for seventeen years. Tony has served on the Tourism Training Queensland Executive, as board director of AALARA and with IAAPA to implement Management/Supervisory development programs for the attractions industry. Tony has also worked as a member of the IAAPA Education committee and assisted in the development and facilitation of training programs for IAAPA in Australia and overseas.

Ask and ye shall receive.

"Gone are the days of Giant Drops and roller coasters" ... what a load of crap! I hate it when journalists come out with sweeping statements like that. There have been so many claims about the end of traditional theme park rides over the years and the replacement with virtual reality attractions etc. it's never eventuated and it never well. I also don't buy the line "Dreamworld's Bob Tan is on the lookout for new attractions". No he isn't. It's Dreamworld we're talking about. As much as I'd love to think Dreamworld management would actually go to these theme park conventions overseas and consider purchasing a really decent new ride, I just don't see it happening. Village Roadshow on the other hand... Edited by GoGoBoy

If Dreamworld want a new thrill ride then maybe they should build a proper roller coaster and not just a giant circle. They need to pull out a decent wooden coaster or something like X-flight to even have a chance at remotely competing with Movie Worlds stable of thrill rides when it comes to coasters. This spring addition will be interesting to follow in the coming months especially with what the park releases as the attraction progresses. Cannot see this being a traditional construction watch by sites with almost all of the work happening indoors. Does anyone think they will do a complete wrap of the visible walls or will it be like Batman The Ride in the only part with major attention focused is the entrance.

Has anyone else seen Storm at Etnaland yet? etnaland-the-storm-layout-02-low.jpg http://www.parksmani...yout-02-low.jpg etnaland-the-storm-lavori-100512a-Copia.jpg http://www.parksmani...0512a-Copia.jpg Basically a Mack version of Intamins MegaLite, with a barrel roll at the end and lap bars only, and a decent 800m length. All of the airtime, but with none of the reliability issues of an Intamin biscuit. I want one for DW!

To be fair I doubt an Intamin ride based on tried and tested technology (as opossed to another groundbreaker) would likely have the reliability problems... It's just they are the one manufacturer to constantly push the envelope. Look at Superman, it has very little downtime for technical faults.

The building seems to be able the right size to fit in two Vekoma I-rides

The I ride needs 18.1m of height according to the Vekoma site http://www.vekoma.co...id=99&Itemid=57 Superman is 40m, so the building would roughly need to be half the height of Superman to fit the I-Ride. 0119-1_Superman-Escape_004.jpg http://www.parkz.com...-Escape_004.jpg 0119-1_Superman-Escape_014.jpg http://www.parkz.com...-Escape_014.jpg As we can see from the pic, even the tallest part of the Batman building; The library, is say only 1/4 (10m ish?) so in your dreams basically. To fit an I-Ride you'd need a building a tad taller than the big laser room warehouse on Scooby.

(surely by combining two rooms you could lower the footprint)

How? You'd have two side by side, so what would you cut out from the sides of each unit? I mean, thinking logically anyway, if the current building is only had 4 small simulator pods with screens not much bigger than a home projector, you certainly aren't going to fit simulators with big IMAX dome type screens with 3 levels of seating, so not sure where the idea came from  Also, being more accurate: 535980_10150711295467182_106147617181_9759266_1843717519_n.jpg See the smaller doorway between the two roller doors on the right. The door would have a head height of 2100mm so I'd guess 6m or so for the roof? Edited by Gazza

They would fit side by side as the building is roughly 60 metres plus the screen is not as wide as the actual ride unit. Only the height is the issue, but if you didn't notice I did ask how high the building is. Edited by Cruiseshipfan
