Ideas For The Old Sea Viper Space

I would like to see something like this.

I have been on this and it actually packs quite a punch, especially if you haven't been on it before. I am sure you could have a custom and change elemetns to have a "reef" tunnel and maybe mist, and it would be a cheap, small but very nifty attraction! Also the thrill level covers a very wide range of guests and it has the ability to have a very high turnover because it's short.

I imagine the footprint couldn't be huge, so a Premier Sky Rocket (like Tempesto or Discovery Kingdom's Superman) might be a good fit.

As for a B&M - something like Daemonen at Tivoli Gardens would probably fit in that space (it's a great ride too!).

It'd be good if they could squeeze in a coaster and a family flat ride (*cough* pirate ship) into that area, to help the guest traffic spread out around the park a little more.

I'm going to assume enoth=enough.

I agree, the GC are heavy on coasters, but the fact of the matter is that this is what the public want. A new rollercoaster purchased for less than $10m (even a one-trick pony) is a far stronger marketing device than a flat. Dark rides are cool, but you can't show a lot of the ride in your advertising without giving away the effects and it too falls down (JL3D is a perfect example of a poor marketing drive).

But, in saying that, I have to disagree with you in terms of SW getting a new dark ride. You have an absolutely stunning seaside position - and you're going to erect bloody great big boxes of a showbuilding to hide all that, substituting some half-baked storyline indoors?

Ok - Bermuda was great - but it did have indoor and outdoor elements, and it fused both of those together very well... even Storm does (although not to the same extent) but it used the showbuilding that already existed.

I cannot support any suggestion for Sea World that involves building any more enclosed structures - you might as well rezone the park Industrial if you do - as it will be nothing but a forest of sheds.

Movie World is where I would expect should be the home of the dark ride. Considering the ticketing structures now available - It wouldn't be bad for MW to focus now on immersive attractions (Ala Universal) and let Sea World take the lions share of outdoor attractions - like Cedar, Coney Island etc - more of an outdoor seaside park than anything else.

Nah an iconic  coaster was torn down. Its only fitting that something similar replaces it. Love the idea of Formula X. It would be a winner. Remember this is one of the biggest parcels of land that Seaworld has now suddenly become available  for quite some time. They need to do this area justice and plan for it to be 100%  utilised to maximum effect.  I echo those who wishes to see a new coaster plus at least 2 flats be installed- this would restore the balance of attraction versus ride that is currently in flux at the park.

That coaster looks awfully rough, bad pacing and ugly (look at all that bracing). I agree that a few flat rides might be fun, more like Ocean Parade. However, I'd rather one iconic ride (be it a roller coaster, dark ride etc.) than a collection of average flats.

I agree with ash.1111 instead of another roller coaster add a bucket full of flat rides to give a bit more of a variety of rides cause the online real  thrill ride what they have in the back would be storm coaster and the jet rescue as they demolished the sea viper and pirate ship.

It's actually not. It definitely comes across that way in the video, but it is very smooth on the ride.

So is your suggestion that Formule X be in a different, smaller plot?

The live animals/ ride combo doesn't work.  It cheapens the animals to being a sideshow, and it's just about impossible to focus on them and the ride.  The only real exceptions are safari type rides where it's all about the animals.

As for Sea Vipers/ Pirate Ship's Land, look is it greedy to think and RMC and a Mack Launch Coaster could could co exsist quite well?  I mean by all means you lot keep talking about uninspiring x-car coasters and I'll just go ahead and have a bit of ambition for the park.  Oh and Sea World does need a coaster.  Plonk a flat ride down near Storm if you must.  There's a lot of wasted land in the middle of that ride if someone wants to get clever about using it.

As for the dark ride thing, yeah Storm fills that void as well as anything.  You know where you could add a dark ride at Sea World that could work?  Inside the castle replacing the 3D theatre.  It'd have to be a screen based shooter for space reasons but I think give it an appropriate theme and it could work a treat.

Thematically great, but a dull ride.

I agree with you there. But I liked the concept. Perhaps a full animatronic version would work well (with a more exciting theme). Unfortunately though, the beancounters might not agree with me on that one.

Love the idea of a shooter - but feel a larger space would be more suited (to allow for moving/spinning cars... yeah!). But doing up the cinema with full motion seats and a shooter theme would be better than nothing. What would you theme it to though? Shoot the Japanese whalers?

In that case - you disagree with Ash.1111 - as he said:

Your 'bucket full' is likely not to be much more than average.

Nope - a coaster is a requirement in the SW master plan moving forward. Something Iconic as Joz said to replace what was once. Maybe wait until the Casino gets a height relaxation, and then reach for the sky with something really impressive.

I found that this was the best way to see what the park needs. It's pretty simple, Family Appeal on one axis, Thrill Appeal on the other.

Not sure about you, but with those two pretty decent areas I could see a couple of options.

  • I would very much enjoy an iconic coaster for the Med-High Thrill gap. The dream would be for a B&M, but regardless, something that is more thrilling in nature then Jet Rescue or Storm. Maybe a Eurofighter?
  • For the Med-Low, I would probably look at the idea for a couple of flat rides. I'm not saying go insane with it, but maybe just a couple of rides here and there to really fill that vacant position.

As for the idea of a dark ride, I'm kind of against it. Movie World is much more suited to dark rides then Sea World, and I just can't see a stand alone dark ride really working at Sea World. If I was running the park, I would look at seeing if there's a way that the Vikings Revenge could be themed up a bit, and maybe turned into a small dark ride ala POTC. Nothing grandiose, just a series of vignettes of some kooky and crazy Vikings getting up to no good. It would fill that desire that some of us have for a dark ride while also giving a ride that's gotten the short end of the stick for a while some love.

You people! What is wrong with you? How could you say no to roller coasters?

Who's saying we can't get a flat AND a coaster? Or a dark ride AND a coaster? Or a flat AND a dark ride AND a coaster AND a new car park? These things aren't mutually exclusive!

anything that's not a rollercoaster ( the gold coast has enoth dam rollercoasters)

sea world now has three rollercoasters . there's no need for a forth

I disagree. More roller coasters = More successful parks on the Gold Coast. We have a few coasters already, only some of which I would consider world class. What is the harm in getting a few more? In what way will having more coasters do harm to the parks?

I agree with ash.1111 instead of another roller coaster add a bucket full of flat rides to give a bit more of a variety of rides cause the online real  thrill ride what they have in the back would be storm coaster and the jet rescue as they demolished the sea viper and pirate ship.

I hope you realise you aren't agreeing with ash.1111 there. They said they would "rather one iconic ride (be it a roller coaster, dark ride etc.) than a collection of average flats" (which is what a 'bucket full' of flat rides would be.) If it's a thrill ride you're looking for, another coaster is your best bet, and will destroy the competition of a bunch of flats or a dark ride.

I know Sea World is not aimed at the hyper Thrillseeker dynamic, but I really would love to see something pretty intense! But not only is it unlikely to happen for financial reasons, it is probably not the smarftest move from a marketing perspective either unfortunately.

Why not? I think we are narrowing the different parks' audiences too much. It's not like the only people who go to SW are families with young kids or the only people who go to DW are hormonal teenagers. The audiences are pretty spread out amongst all of the parks, which makes all of them suitable for more roller coasters.

Plenty of people up on the GC are visiting for the rides at other parks, but still like to have a pop in to Sea World as it is. Why not attract more of these people by giving them another good coaster to ride on the day?

As for Sea Vipers/ Pirate Ship's Land, look is it greedy to think and RMC and a Mack Launch Coaster could could co exsist quite well?  I mean by all means you lot keep talking about uninspiring x-car coasters and I'll just go ahead and have a bit of ambition for the park.  Oh and Sea World does need a coaster.  Plonk a flat ride down near Storm if you must.  There's a lot of wasted land in the middle of that ride if someone wants to get clever about using it.

BOOM! Right on the money. It's okay to rationalise your expectations, but dreaming for something that seems just a bit out of reach is better than settling for some low capacity mediocre and/or shittle coaster. A launched Mack is something that has been mentioned on here before, it would be absolutely perfect if you ask me.
