yes it seems a bit of a muddled throw together. the entree is quite polarising too for people with seafood allergies, and many of the antipasto elements also have certain allergens - seems weird for them not to offer a choice of entree, just as they do the main.

Alcohol seems a weird selection too. And (although I know two people who would do this for the experience regardless of alcohol) you can bet few people would sit on the soft stuff whilst the beverage package is open beer and wine for the duration - i know a lot of people would certainly get their money's worth from the bev.

take a few camel bac pouches, line your jacket with them, and fill them with the soft drink throughout the night to get your money's worth

*screw that - do the same thing, but with alcohol. Continue the shit-facing well into the following day!

Sounds like you have some experience with alcohol smuggling.

Are you all kidding me?

Let me start by saying this (and I don't mean to offend but it's going to happen), THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!!

All this talk of (oh but what about people who might have allergies/not like seafood) not liking this or that, and that it's not worth it if you don't like wine.

This is is a whole unique food and beverage offering at an extremely low price for what is being offered.

Its not for theme park enthusiasts that want to have a winge about which part of it isn't suited to their millennial carry on personal absolute requirements.

Good on Dreamworld for offering something unique that caters to the top tier market.

Not everything has to be for you and things shouldn't be criticized just because they aren't.

Also any guy that's getting out of Valentine's Day dinner for under $350 should be buying a lottery ticket and holding onto that partner and never letting them go!

Now excuse me whilst I go buy some tickets.

It has nothing about being a theme park enthusiasts for me.  My partner has no interest in theme parks and it's why I spend most of my time at parks alone.  This is the time of the year that I must shine.  I’m just weighing up my options for the best outcome for me.

Yeah I have to agree there. Being a theme park fan has nothing to do with my opinion on this. The only connection it had was that I saw it because I like the Dreamworld Facebook page and saw the post pop up.

My wife doesn't like theme parks at all. It's always a struggle to drag her along to one for any reason.

Yes, this is a very good offering from the park, at an excellent price point. But, being a theme park fan or not doesn't really change whether or not you like seafood and wine.

Also, $350 for Valentine's Day dinner? Stuff that,  I'd pay maybe $60 at somewhere like hogs breath, otherwise we both agree it's just a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere. (Not on lotto tickets either).

I think a lot of us would be in the same boat.  I only purchased my wife a pass this year so she could drop me off and come inside to grab my belongings.  She will leave and go and do whatever chicks do and I don’t have to pay for a locker.  The hardest thing about being a lone-rider is you have nobody to hold your gear.  The best thing is I get to go to fright nights 2 times.

Yep.. all in the same boats.

My partner has had VRTP membership for 3 years and only been in the park twice - for 2 fright nights. Doesn't even have a membership card as she's never been during the day.

I wasn't judging it as a theme park enthusiast either.

I don't eat seafood so I wouldn't even consider it with the entree choice

it is no doubt solid value, due largely to the drinks package

i would never, and have never, spend $350 on a Meal for two. My budget doesn't run that way unfortunately. Especially when you could go to somewhere like Bazaar at QT for half that price (excluding drinks of course). I'm thankful my missus is a Hogs Breath kinda girl!

I heard Sizzlers and The Coffee Club are good places too.

Despite the standard negative connotations to it, Sizzler will always hold a special cheesy-toasty place in my heart, and while the food wasn't always the best, it was still decent enough at a decent price.

I hadn't actually considered Coffee Club as we're not huge coffee drinkers (well, despite the fact she's a barista, she actually hates coffee), but, if it's enough to go on a list of things you seem to think are cheap and nasty, it's probably quite a good option for us. The less money we spend on fancy food, the more money we can save and spend on important things like holidays and random tech gadgets. Cheers for the suggestion.

Also we don't really buy in to the whole commercialisation of valentines day. Since when do you need 1 specific day of the year to show your love for your partner by taking them to a dinner where you get to pay inflated prices just because of the date?

We're comparing cheesy bread, buffets and Coffee Club food (i.e. poached eggs that come in pre-made pouches) against:

Entrees

Antipasto and seafood plater for two: prawns, oysters, Moreton-Bay bugs, smoked Salmon, prosciutto, salami, chorizo, pickled vegetables and assorted artisan breads.

Mains
Roasted beef tenderloin, potato rosti, wilted baby spinach, carrot puree and horseradish jus
or
Baked Atlantic salmon, wild rice, bok-choy, roasted cauliflower and lemon butter sauce.

I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I think the comparison of Maccas vs. fine dining is happening here, no?

You've missed the point of this offering though - it's not a $350 meal for two. It's an experience, with food and drink included - kind of like the Star Tour provides lunch and snacks. What you're getting for $350 is what i think would be a fairly intimate gathering of couples experiencing Tiger Island - and the tigers themselves - as few would have ever seen it. As I said in my initial reply to this event, i know two people who don't drink, one of whom probably can't eat half the food on the menu, who (potentially) would still seriously consider going to this regardless.

For the experience, i'd probably pay it if i could afford the price tag, I just wish there was more on the menu that i could eat (my wife on the other hand would probably devour it)
