Stupid residents at it again.

Recommended Posts

It's pretty funny, I know a few of the ride ops there and they have actually had residents come down to the rides, Ranger and Tango particularly, and they go off at the ops telling them to "Turn that F*#$ing ride off it's too loud", or "Stop using the PA". It has happened several times not just once. I guess they have a point, if I paid $4 million for a place I would want some peace and quiet too. But to go off at the staff, that’s just ridiculous. Couldn't agree with you more Daniel. THE PARK WAS THERE FIRST, THE AIRPORT WAS THERE FIRST, THE PUB NEXT DOOR WAS THERE FIRST!! I'm so over all of these people who want to buy a property and then complain about what's around it, I wish people would just get over themselves...

I can't believe this is happening again. It's just crazy. If the residents get their way again it could spell the end of the amusements at Luna Park for the last time. Here's hoping nothing comes of it. Everybody (including the government and local councils) wanted to see Luna Park return as an amusement park so it would just be a joke if they allow it to close down again. It is highly likely that at least the Ranger and Spider will be removed. I'm sure the owners won't mind being forced to have a few less rides so they can concentrate on the functions. I always personally thought those 2 rides were located in a strange spot though (as I mentioned in my original Luna Park trip report)

My sister apparently lives about 500 metres away from the park so she tells me..... She's a very down to earth person, you know, one of those people who enjoy watching SBS (e.g. South Park etc.)
So what’s your point? Does she complain about the park? Or is she so high while watching South Park that she doesn't notice the sound? :D To add to Rapster's list, THE BROTHEL WAS THERE FIRST. The Bus is now leaving for Hookers Hut Creek, Tasmania"

The suburb of Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, which was the scene for much redevelopment in the late-90's and still today for inner-city apartments. It also happens to have Brisbane's best clubs and other nightlife. Residents complained and had their winge. The council said "No" and declared the suburb a "noisy district", that the clubs, music venues and nightclubs and whatnot were there first and consequently when residents moved into the area, the noisy surroundings were part of the deal. They basically can't complain and places like The Arena can still pump out the best live music in Brisbane. Now, I'd absolutely love to live in one of those apartments above Luna Park. Not for the proximity to Luna Park, but because damn, those are some fine looking places! I'd take the place as it is and accept that there's a 70 year-old amusement park on my doorstep. Unfortunately I don't live there, and seemingly the most vocal people that do live there don't share my opinions. I dare say that 50% or more of the residents are either indifferent or for Luna Park, but they are the voices that are heard. Maybe Sydney can pull off something like they did with the Valley in Brisbane. We're talking much the same sort of thing. I don't think we'll ever see Luna Park's restrictions relaxed any time in the future, but if the local and state governments are behind it, then we surely won't see the place go down the path of previous installations of Luna Park. As for operators being abused by residents, well I hope (and assume) that they're calling the appropriate authorities and getting them escorted out of the park at the very least, if not cuffed and taken away.

Can I buy a flat next to the Bush Beast??? But seriously.. Basically the fuss is always about changes. The Cyclone case was lost because it was not the Big Dipper. If they had rebuilt the existing Wooden Big Dipper, then no amount of screaming by residents could possibly have prevented it's operation since there was a clear mandate that the dipper was there before the residents. The same could not be said of the "new" dipper (now Cyclone) which was clearly noisier than the old Dipper - so off it went, taking the "viability" of the park with it. (now where have I heard that word "viability" before recently?..) The only rides the rezzies can have kicked out are those that weren't there beforehand. Personally I think they should build an exact replica of the original Big Dipper and that's that - no amount of court cases or arguing could close it. That would surely piss them all off. ZordMaker

The park was there before these idiots were.  They knew it was there when they bought it so they can get stuffed.  It's like buying a house at Mascot.  Idiots.
I totally agree with you Daniel "total idiots!"...full stop Somebody pls buy the residents another café latte to drink Cheers Sean
