Woah, Ocean Parade is edging closer to actually having an ocean/beach theme for once 

The Gold Coaster, eh? InB4 people start calling it the 'Old Coaster' because lets face it, that's what it is at this point...

I imagine the station will be themed to a 90's Surf Life Saving Clubs tavern interior. Not deliberately, it will just end up looking like that. 

I like that colour scheme and design from what I can see. I don't mind that it's using 2D flats unlike this monstrosity

Anyone else notice that the Sidewinder has mysteriously "disappeared" from the Ride list on the DW website (Not even mentioned on the Maintenance page)?  

Also on the current (Covid-reduced) DW park map, the Sidewinder still has a number (#47) but isn't actually listed in the Ocean Parade section.  

Maybe it's in for *long* long-term maintenance, or DW has deleted the ride page for rebranding. Or is DW sneakily retiring another ride?

No I think there just gearing up for a announcement of the ride (name,trains,etc) and removing all sidewinder references so it doesn’t look odd when sidewinder and the gold coaster are on the website if that makes sense

It will appear again with it new name and new photos soon, it almost finish being repainted and new name is already been installed on queue entry. They will likely make announcement soon on reopening before adding new name and details to the website

@shokupanjamin yeah I noticed it a few days ago. It isn’t mysterious as they are preparing the website to feature the new name and information, etc. The coaster hasn’t been listed on the map since the park reopened, but they did update the tracks colour

@themagician Would be silly to spend all that money painting it and then close it... but stranger things have happened at Dreamworld.

Isn't that what happened with SeaCorkViper? They did a heap of work to it only a few years after the retheme, only to find it beyond economical repair? 

I have no issue with them re using them in. Even Disney pulls that one. 
Better than it going in the skip.

They also brought POS trains that destroyed the track... Yes it required a bit more maintenance due to the sea air and the age of the ride, but I think if they hadn't replaced the trains with the Kumbak ones it would have lasted a while longer. I know the Python at Efteling got the same Kumbak trains in 2005 and then in 2011 were replaced with the Venom trains again like we currently see on Sidewinder.

Interestingly most of the track was replaced and rebuilt by a different builder in 2018 as well. Wonder how much damage the Kumbak trains caused lol

Here’s the view of the The Gold Coaster from WhiteWater World yesterday. It appears that repainting has basically been completed with only some small areas that still require a repaint.

Also I think that the queue line is also being repainted to match the new colour scheme judging from this shot.

Knowing Australian parks and how they run their sites, if you look hard enough you'll probably find the Gold Coaster page just hidden in the websites back end. 

Won't lie the coaster is looking amazing from pictures I've seen within WWW. 

At least this coaster blends better together with ocean parade

Which means come November they will have Buzzsaw, Sidewinder, Claw and Pandemonium all closed. They might need to postpone some closures then.

Well that sucks I was meant to go to the gold coast in November and to all the parks but I'll probably skip dreamworld unless there is maybe some sort of event going on
