Renders of the first stage of a $65m water park, resort and tourist attraction at Glenview have been released.

Fresh artist's impressions of the first stage of a $65m water park and tourism attraction set to feature a region-first wave pool have been released.

Plans were submitted to Sunshine Coast Council earlier this week for stage 2 of Sanad Capital's proposed Actventure water park and Invigorate resort at Steve Irwin Way, Glenview.

A wave pool capable of hosting an Olympic surfing event in 2032 is the centrepiece of the second stage, which also included a water park and unit-style resorts.

Following the lodgement of those plans, Sanad Capital, run by chief executive Bradley Sutherland, released new renders of the vision for the first stage.

Stage 1 works were set to begin shortly, with Mr Sutherland indicating he hoped to have stage 1, featuring a 160-villa family resort, water park, retail and more open by Christmas, 2023, and stage 2, complete with the Endless Surf wave pool by WhiteWater opened in early-2024.

Mr Sutherland explained his deep commitment to the project earlier this week.

He said he'd spent about $15m to-date in his bid to bring the project to fruition and turned down several offers to sell.

Mr Sutherland said he was in discussions with several local builders at present and said to "watch this space" for works to kick off soon.

...a project start date is just months away...

...hoped the detailed design would be signed off by the end of September...

“We could be coming out of the ground by November with early bulk earthworks.

“We want to work on many of the elements simultaneously and open everything at Christmas in 2023.’’

A few important timeline snips from the article.

Ok, I have been doing some digging on version (whatever we are up to).

Actventure Waterpark development

The proposed Tourist Attraction includes a number of water-based attractions, including water slides and wave pool, as well as the necessary operational amenities, including food and beverage kiosks, restrooms and administrative areas.

Public car park to be located at the front of the site and will accommodate 203 car parks.

Actventure main entrance will have ticketing booths, a first aid station, administration areas, storage space, retail shops, food and drink outlets and bathroom amenities.

The layout for the waterpark is not the final layout but Actventure  have stated the waterpark will likely include various water slides, sprinkler playgrounds and pools. provide bathroom amenities with patron storage lockers and food and drink outlets for the water park and wave pool guests only, as well as a staffroom and security base. A boardwalk promenade.

Wave pool attraction, to be advertised as ‘Endless Surf’, which will be the first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast. including bathroom amenities, food and drink outlets, a swim up pool bar, storage rooms, first aid room, equipment hire shed, a spectator/judging stand and various shade structures. Endless Surf is associated with the Actventure Waterpark attraction but can be ticketed separately and will be provided with sufficient amenities to operate independently.

Ok, so a update on the park that always promises to start construction any day but then wa la, the developers need one more approval or a new construction permit. So firstly, on the 12th of November, Sanad Capital posted this article ( https://www.sanadcapital.com.au/post/endless-surf-sunshine-coast-surf-pool ) that stated Actventure would ' likely to begin work in November with the entire attraction ready for a grand opening at Christmas, 2023.'  Then a week ago, Sanad posted another article stating site preparations would begin in weeks ( https://www.sanadcapital.com.au/post/making-waves-on-steve-irwin-way-what-the-cutting-edge-endless-surf-attraction-will-look-like ). Is this a scam or what? It kinda seeks like Sanad are dragging their heels??? Or am I just nieve and this is how long stuff takes?

Site update, grass is freshly mowed, there is what looks to me to be new signage up and there is a single excavator on site.

Cyclone fence hoarding is still there and there now appears to be some form of show room or office for the hotel part of the plans.

So….not a lot happening at the moment.

Hopefully this gets kickstarted to begin in earnest soon!! It’s WELL overdue and would be a great addition to the Sunshine Coast attractions!!

At least the lot is being kept in good condition?

Most councils tend to police owners of vacant blocks letting them appear too overgrown. My MIL used to operate a slashing business and she did a lot of business with builders \ developers who owned blocks of land they weren't ready to build on yet.

The builders didn't have a regular schedule, they'd just ring her up every time the council sent them a notice. Can't speak for Sunshine Coast but I know for a fact that Moreton Bay, Redlands, Brisbane, Logan and Gold Coast all did much the same thing, so likely the block condition is to avoid council fines than any particular care about how the block looks...

Yeah I get that, but honestly, every time I drive past, it looks presentable. Either SCCC is very diligent with it, or they have a regular schedule with the mowing because they are looking for investors/people to purchase the resort units timeshare style and surprisingly even lot presentation matters when doing that.

Side note, this has been going on for so long, has this website been linked?

Specifically, Investment Sunshine Coast | Expressions of Interest | Invigorate Resort if you want to invest.

While I'm on the topic that website has some interesting stuff, including a typo.

"The Actventure Waterpark caters for up to 1,250 visitors per hour on rides on rides and has capacity for over 2,000 patrons at any one time"

The imagined site plans has waterfront villas...

Except the site isn't waterfront...

They also have their plans listed out, specifically mentioning Wet n Wild and that the Earthworks approval is "currently" being amended.

It’s going to be called PerfectSwell® and the waves will look like this – all day, every day and even into the night!

The developer of an Australian-first surf pool approved for Steve Irwin Way, Glenview, has revealed the name of the much-anticipated attraction.

Also, global leader in artificial waves, American Wave Machines (AWM), confirmed to Sunshine Coast News, it had signed an exclusive agreement with Sanad Capital for its patented technology to be used in the Queensland project.

The Sunshine Coast pool, expected to cost $40 million, will use the same technology as surf pools currently operating in Shizunami, Japan, and in the United States at Waco, Texas, and The DreamWorks Water Park in New Jersey. The Japanese facility hit the spotlight as an official training venue for the Tokyo Olympics.

PerfectSwell® will be one of three key elements in Sanad Capital’s integrated $130 million tourism showpiece.

Work, which will commence in coming weeks after being delayed by recent bad weather.

Despite concerns regarding the availability of trades and materials, developer Sanad Capital is working towards opening all three elements in late 2023.
