Should you plan a trip to the Gold Coast parks at the moment?

Hi all, sorry if this topic has already been discussed.

I would just like to make this thread for everyone who does not live close to the parks and is wondering if it is too early to plan a trip.

Here we can discuss the chances of another outbreak, how many rides are open, flight costs, and anything extra regarding planning a trip that interstate park enthusiasts may be interested in knowing for the coming year of 2021.

I’m going to start the thread off by asking the question, Are the wait times long for rides at the moment?

Why not? We flew up from Adelaide for the October long weekend and had a great time.

Sure lines were crazy at both Dreamworld and Movieworld and with no Flashpass available at Movieworld the $100 bucks for a day pass made it hard to get your money's worth but we still had no regrets making the 3 day trip.

I was planning on doing a 7 day pass in mid-late Jan next year

The border between NSW and QLD is currently closed until we have no cases of transmission for 28 days. Which will NEVER happen until there is a vaccine! And already it's been so much of a struggle to get to the Gold Coast. that I've never been there.

So the answer is no, and it never has been!

Even with a vaccine (which currently doesn't exist, and is likely not to have anywhere near the level of uptake required to make it useful if one ever does exist), 28 days without community spread is unlikely to happen.

The 28 day thing gets Anastasia to the election day. I have no doubts it will be softened further or removed completely once the election result is decided (regardless of who wins).
