And this would be the other signature feature of GCIs rides, a very twisted layout with lots of crossovers.

Six Flags Magic Mountain
The VR experience takes guests on a fighter pilot mission against alien spacecraft on earth in an "Independence Day" type scenario. Guests can even shoot during the ride, moving their head to aim.

Apocalypse
Six Flags Magic Mountain
A dispatched train races the train being dispatched behind as it loops around at the midway point. The upside of this approach is a very long ride time, and the sense of "riding twice", the downside is that the racing is inconsistent, since it depends on the loading speed of riders. The ride system does it's best however, adjusting the speed of the lift hill in an attempt to achieve a race between trains. An steep 80 degree drop leads into a low profiled speed hill.

An overview of the attraction. The ride is a shuttle coaster. The train is lifted backwards out of the station up the first tower. When it reaches the top it is released, and the train speeds through the twisted track until it reaches the 2nd tower. Again, the train is lifted to the top, and then released, sending guests through again backwards!

And they're off. The trains feature onboard audio, so guests are treated to the sounds of the machines pursuing them, and the human operatives shouting orders over the radio.

Green Lantern: First Flight

Unfortunatley for us, the machines never abandoned the place properly, and are back! At this stage the Terminators awaken, and guests are treated to the sounds and sights of the facility being attacked from the outside.

The VR footage is cued to follow the movements of the ride individually for each seat, so the turns and inversion are worked creatively into the virtual experience as fighter pilot manoeuvres.

Here you can see exactly why it is called a 'floorless' coaster....Nothing is between your feet and the track.

At the time of this visit (Early 2010) The latest coaster in Magic Mountains arsenal was Terminator Salvation: The Ride, a wooden coaster by GCI with a twisted layout.

Full Throttle's main claim to fame is its record-breaking 49m (160ft) vertical loop, which also features a top hat on its outside that riders pass over later in the course.
