The Main Entrance
There are some new graphics over the main entrance promoting the VIP Pass.
This month. What an improvement some signage that looks like it was meant to be there makes
The Broadwater Cafe is now the home of the all you can eat buffet. Great to see this venue with a great location back in use.
Ride Maintenance
Jet Rescue's second train is now receiving some TLC during the quiet season.
Since the expiration of the old VIP passes crowd numbers have returned to a more traditional level, making now a great time to visit the park despite a few attraction closures
Bermuda Triangle is closed for maintenance until August 16
As we mentioned in the last update, Skyway is closed until September 12. Notice the maintenance car has been added
Also due for completion September 12 is Zoe's Submarine water play area. As you can see they've begun rebuilding the attraction almost from scratch
Corkscrew has seen it's height requirement raised to 130cm
Interesting Paint Jobs: Sea World Edition
Who knows...maybe Sea Viper was supposed to have black supports all along?
Castaway Bay Construction
We don't think the park has ever had as much construction going on at any one time.
This steelwork is most likely for the 'Sky Climb' ropes course.
Same stuff, but looking from the Monorail.
Those hut type structures will be the platforms between the various rope challenges
The 'Battle Sails' Splash Battle ride is coming along nicely. They have managed to secure some Tower of Terror tunnel leftovers to form the course the boats will follow.
It seems likely that Mack (a German ride manufacturer) are building this....
If you compare with one of their other installations, Battle Galleons at Alton Towers, you can see the 'track' system is the same.
You can already see some thatched roofs and rough timber poles, should be some nice theming here.
The new ride almost fits into the footprint of the old resort style pool.
Here you can see all three attractions that comprise Castaway Bay
I'ts unclear how the existing 'Plunge' water slide and wading pools will work in with the new area
Sky Fortress is basically a McDonalds playland on steroids.
Notice how the bare metal structure is being painted to look like bamboo.
Penguin Encounter
Work has gotten serious for Penguin Encounter
The gardens around the new attraction have been removed
According to the park there will be viewing areas on two levels.
There seem to be a few rooms, understandable since there is bound to be a fair bit of infrastructure associated with keeping the exhibit cool enough for its inhabitants.
Enough scaffolding shots for one day.
