The Parkz Update: Doomsday Destroyer ride nears completion while theming grows

Warner Bros. Movie World moves forward with the vertical construction of Doomsday Destroyer finishing up, while theming around the Intamin Suspended Twin Hammer continues to become more elaborate.

Movie World has been a hive of activity, and no one has captured it better than Parkz members. Here we've compiled some of our members' photos to show the steady progress of Doomsday Destroyer and its surrounding area.

The sheer number and variation in the building facades is quite a departure for recent attractions at Movie World where the focus was on making the singular attraction presentable without much concern for the surroundings.

Sunday 12 June

While in recent years we're used to seeing the final pieces of rides come into place in the weeks or even days prior to opening, Doomsday Destroyer is more or less in place with work now focusing on the machinery and components required to make it operational.

More buildings are to go in place filling in some of the vacant land, as indicated by the new concrete slab.

A closer look at the components that drive the Doomsday Destroyer's rotating motion. The large motor in the middle has a 90° turn in its axle and drives one of the large geared wheels found on each arm.

No attraction at Movie World has received this much surrounding theming since Wild West Falls (Tthen Wild Wild West), which was as much an expansion of the park's boundaries as it was a new attraction.

Tuesday 14 June

The ride features a new design of Intamin restraint. The same company built Giant Drop, The Claw, Superman Escape and Surfrider so you can see a steady progression in their restratin style over the years.

Mangled steel is the first signs of the destruction that the villains will bring to DC Comics Super-Villains Unleashed, the mouthful-of-a-name given to the new precinct that surrounds Doomsday Destroyer.
