Village Roadshow buys out Warner Bros. stake

Village Roadshow to buy Warner Bros' half of Warner Village Theme Parks, the venture which owns and operates three Gold Coast theme parks. Asian market could be next for the Warner Bros. park franchise.

As part of the acquisition, Village will also assume Warner Bros' half of the debt from the theme park venture - giving a total of $129 million debt to Village Roadshow for the parks.

The agreement is not going to affect the existing parks' licensed Warner Bros. property, with Village Roadshow continuing a licensing agreement that may see future expansion of the Warner Bros. theme park franchise into Asia.
