Motocoaster track completed

Track construction is now completed on Dreamworld's newest roller coaster, the Mick Doohan Motocoaster, with construction shifting to commissioning the coaster before its September opening.

Little over a month ahead of its official opening, the Mick Doohan Motocoaster has seen its 605m course completed in the past week.

It marks the third roller coaster on the Gold Coast from Swiss manufacturer Intamin AG in the past few years. In 2005 Warner Bros. Movie World launched Superman Escape while Wet'n'Wild Water World is preparing Surf Rider which uses roller coaster technology to deliver a conventional flat ride style experience. Surf Rider is expected open before the end of the year.

Since 2000 the Gold Coast has seen a surge in the number of roller coasters built, with the number of coasters almost tripling to eleven. In 2003 Dreamworld permanently shut Thunderbolt, demolishing it six months later.
