Adventure Island & Adventure Island Ferry Overview
Guests would board the Adventure Island ferry near Dockside Tavern (where Cartoon Beach currently sits) and make there way to the back of the park which was home to Adventure Island. Made up of typical playground equiptment, a Small fort, suspension bridge and a dock, Adventure Island was an Island playground offering respite from the crowds. Similar in concept to Tom Sawyer's Island at Disneyland.
Removed in early 1996 to make way for Dolphin Cove. After the attraction's closing, the ferries were converted to barge's, which were used as a launch pad for fireworks, special event stages, and as a base for large inflatable characters.
