  1. Great video. I really loved the eclectic editing style. It really is good to see something that flows a little differently from the stock-standard coaster video.
  2. Ideally I think you'd want to have the teething problems sorted out prior to opening the ride. With Superman, a ride where technical problems can be expected given the history of the Intamin hydraulic coasters, we can expect to see it testing possibly months before opening, and then of course there are soft-openings in the days and weeks prior to official opening.
  3. Try telling me how legally binding that negligibility clause is once you've got your degree. It's interesting that the the issue of fraudulent suing was brought up. My initial point went against this. To devalue this clause I was careful to mention only legitimate reasons to sue. Is this what they teach you in law school? And here I was thinking law was about justice.
  4. If you tripped and fell in the park as a result of the operator's negligence (a crack in the pavement or a badly aligned tile for instance), you would be very much eligible to sue for injuries.
  5. I could appreciate the deliberate step that they took away from the original four films. I watched the original Batman on TV the same night. Batman Begins is in many ways a superior film. The reference at the end to the Joker (and thus the original film) was to me one of the few low points of the film. If continuity is what they were after, then they're asking us to ignore the fact that Batman Begins and Batman both offer different stories of how Bruce's parents were killed. I think the new film is personally my favourite of the five (having said that, Burton's two are nothing short of masterpieces), but it needs to be viewed as its own separate film, entirely separate from those of last decade.
  6. If you read the article, it's pretty evident that they are referring to the full scale tourist attraction at the Sunshine Coast, not the closed pineapple-shaped information kiosk/fruit shop at the Gympie Caltex.

  8. There are a set of Community Guidelines which it is expected every user at Roller-Coaster.com.au reads and follows. koolkidsyd, I suggest you read them. They are found here, and linked to at the bottom of every page.
  9. Roller-Coaster.com.au's first update from the Superman Escape roller coaster construction is now available. 10 June - Ground prep & footers Early construction is well underway. Stay tuned for more updates.
  10. You're kidding yourself if you think this site doesn't get significant readership from industry personnel. I don't think it's anyone's place to say what is or isn't right or smart in this circumstance, and when it comes to marketing like this, every bit counts. I find it a tad ironic some of you consider yourselves supporters of this industry.
  11. It'd be great if you submitted your media, especially photographs. See Contribute Media for more details.
  12. I have recently launched a new system for subscriptions. This makes the signup process easier, and also ads a new "referal" system which lets users make $5.00 from every subscription they refer to us. The system is outlined on the Subscription page: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/subscribe.php Every single registered user can join the referal programme. If you visit that page you are given your unique code for referring subscribers.
  13. Dreamworld tickets can now be purchased from Dreamworld through Parkz. If you're planning a trip to Dreamworld and have access to a credit card, ordering your tickets online saves you the lengthy wait out the front of the park to purchase your tickets, meaning you can get in and get down to enjoying your day at the park sooner with far less fuss. Visit the Dreamworld ticket store here.
  14. For those that don't know, Wet'n'Wild is currently in the early stages of constructing several new attractions due open at various stages throughout the year. Most of you know about the Mammoth Falls upgrades, work's yet to commence on that. You might also have known about the replacement children's area that is being built to replace the ageing Buccaneer Bay. To allow for the expansion, the park has seen a relatively quiet closure and removal of the Double Screamer toboggans, which closed last week, and as of today is completely gone. The removal of Double Screamer isn't a total loss. As well as all the other attractions mentioned, there is also several other "thrill" attractions on the way that should do good things for capacity and balance out the current offerings.
  15. It's certainly an interesting idea. I know that our parks do a lot already for local charities, and something along the lines of a charity auction would be a very novel way of raising money for worthy causes. I'm not sure if it'd work well with a "mainstream" audience, but I'm sure there would be enough generous/eager people in our community here alone to get half a train or so filled, right?
  16. Watermarked names look tacky, not to mention it makes a gallery take longer to create. There is a new system being introduced shortly (I hope to get it up tonight) that will mention the photographers' names at the bottom of each gallery page. AlexB, try using actual sentences for a change. Photo galleries on the main site are free for all users, including those who aren't registered or not logged in, so your argument doesn't make sense. Movie World is a park based entirely around trademarked concepts and characters. It's very important to the park that they protect this intellectual property.
  17. Just a word to everyone. If you are vising Movie World and taking photographs of the construction site, I ask that instead of posting your photographs here in the forums, you send them to Roller-Coaster.com.au. The reason for this is to ensure that Warner Bros. Movie World and the new attraction receive accurate and appropriate online representation for the construction period. There are some positives to this. A single forum post might receive a few hundred views. Forum attachments are also available only to registered and logged in members. Last year when The Claw was being built, the Roller-Coaster.com.au construction updates recieved 2,000+ hits each in the space of a few days. At this time, Roller-Coaster.com.au was recieving around half the total monthly hits it does at the moment. Realistically, a Superman construction update could be seen by upwards of 3-5,000 people. See the Roller-Coaster.com.au Submissions page for details on how to submit and minimum requirements. If you have any questions about it, let me know.
  18. Let's try and be friendly and stay on topic. If you've got a problem with another member, sort it out with them away from the forums. I really don't want to have to delete 40 posts in a single night again.
  19. If you're considering buying a pass, I'd recommend doing it through RACQ or a similar sort of organisation if you're a member, because you'll get a 10-15% saving on the price, which is about the best you'll do.
  20. I went to maps.yahoo.com and entered a route from Valencia, CA (SFMM) Vallejo, CA (SFMW) and it's about a 350 mile journey, or 560km. You head straight up the I-5 with no changes along the way, so it'd be an easy half-day drive. dr_teeth, I suggest you look at the Community Guidelines, or maybe take some lessons in English because you're obviously struggling there.
  21. Can we get back on topic please? Start a new thread if you wish to discuss the intricacies of other rides at the park.
  22. I think it's foolish to dismiss this concept without really thinking about it. It covers a significantly different demographic from Nickelodeon Central and we all know families are where the bucks are. From what I've heard it will be a decently sized investment. AlexB, it wouldn't hurt to use capital letters and proper sentences a bit more than you currently are.
  23. Article: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/article.php?aid=45
  24. There is still one set available. Contact me ASAP if you are interested.
  25. There's not a modern Intamin coaster that doesn't use magnetic braking. No question about it, magnetic braking will be there.
