Hi all Just after some opinions please. Wanting to do the Tiger Cub experience, was planning on going to Dreamworld to do so. However - Family are going away next week to the Sunshine Coast and while we are away we are going to go to Australia Zoo. Have never been there before so looking forward to it. I notice on their website they also have a Tiger Cub "photo" experience which is significantly cheaper than Dreamworlds. Just wondering if anyone has done either one (or both) and can offer some suggestions as to which one would be better? Thanks

Carnivale 2016, Movie World, Sea World & Wet'n'Wild
Inverted replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
We went last night using the Bring a Friend for Free which we got emailed as we are members. First time we have ever been to any of these events. We knew it was going to be crowded so had no expectations to ride any of the rides (as we can do this at any time), we went for the atmosphere, food, parade and entertainment. We went in at about 5.45 and there was no wait to enter, straight in. It was great, our almost 4 year old boy loved it. The only downside was the crowd, but this is to be expected. After all, if crowds were low, they wouldn't make any money and wouldn't put it on again. Looking forward to White Christmas. Unfortunately Fright Night will be a no go for us as I doubt it would be appropriate for a 4 year old -

With WWF having an extended down time this winter and a repaint of the mountain. Wonder if they retheme this whole ride... Maybe Mr Freeze mountain? Close to the new villain area after all MW could do with more DC ride :/ -
With the more expensive memberships, you get an entry into white christmas, fright night and carnivale. I wonder if maybe the amount of these memberships sold is starting to get to the point where they won't be able to accommodate everyone for these events? Maybe they will continue selling the cheapest one ($9 per month) without the free entries to these events?

Went to SW today. Now I know all rides need maintenance, But why would you close and do annual maintenance on your biggest ride (storm) in summer considering its a water ride? Would this not better suit winter?

Ok cool. My Bad Please delete thread if required

Hey guys Don't know if this is old news but wife found this today (sorry if it is and has been posted before). Not to do with theme parks so to speak however it would be a major boost to the dreamworld precinct. https://brisbanedevelopment.com/new-residential-resort-precinct-planned-for-coomera/

Yep. Fury Road. My Bad (told you I haven't seen it....HAHA) Or thunder road could be a sequel to Fury Road. Even more reason to use it as a theme. -

Ugh Warner Bros DC world? IMO it wouldn't suit that end of the park. I think they should go the route of Mad Max thunder road in that area. 1. Australia had a lot to do with the making of MMTR 2. Some of the stunt team from WBMO were in the movie and have won awards 3. The desert theme wouldn't be too hard to blend to the western theme 4. The movie was a big hit (haven't seen it - Probably should) -

Went to Movie world today, Haven't been since the driving school was opened, It looks like the JDS only uses half the building of the old river ride. Wonder if they have plans for the other part of the shed? -
Thanks guys I just called them. They no longer offer the 12 months up front themselves but said that you can call the Direct Debit company who handles the payments and pay for the remainder of the contract period up front with directly them if you wish.
-
Hi guys. Looking to get a membership for the VRTP. I noticed when they first came out they had the option of paying up front and getting one month free if you do so. It also says this in their payment options under FAQ. However when trying to buy them online it only gives the option for pay by the month. Anyone know if they still offer up front payment? Thanks

Sorry il correct myself. As others have mentioned that some locos burn oil, The dreamworld locos were converted to oil burners and not gas as I previously said. Im not sure why i said gas (after re reading my own comment I thought it was wrong, Brain fart moment)
-
Yes Agree. I am a steam train fanatic. These loco are living beauty and beast in one, And amazing machines in their own way, using fire and water to move thousands of tonnes. They do need special/qualified people to operate them as they are an engine under extreme pressure and can be dangerous if you have no idea what your doing. And only one operator in dreamworld can do this. Just one small note for those interested, the dreamworld loco doesn't burning coal so no soot, Which is good in a theme park as guests don't like soot in their clothes, hair and eyes. They burn gas which makes them easier to fire and turning a knob for more heat to boil water/ more pressure is easier than shovelling coal. Also better for the environment for the greenies.

Hey all Just a short post to ask park members to get onto Dreamworld and say how much they loved seeing the "steam" loco back on the rails today. Yep thats right the steam trains was running around all day today. I asked the train crew when did she return? They told me today was the first time in 3.5 years that it has been on the rails and had some major work done to it. I also asked how often it would run? The engineer said it was a trial today to see what the feedback was like from the public. One hurdle was that he was the only one who can operate the train but asked me to go only Facebook or email dreamworld and let them know my feedback which I have done. If dreamworld read this PLEASE KEEP THE STEAMER RUNNING!!

What can Movie World do to reduce the strain?
Inverted replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Personally I think the parks could introduce a different system than a fast pass system. Id like to see everyone get equal opportunity to use the park as much as the next person. Not give preference to people who have deeper wallets. How I would do this is give everyone a wrist band on entering the park with a barcode. This code allows you to line up in a "First ride" line (which you would only get one per ride per day) then have the second line for additional rides. This would allow everyone a chance to ride the rides at least once in the day. If people wish to wait and ride again they should go behind people who haven't use that attraction that day. The only question would be if the ride can put through the amount of gate entries on a particular busy day. Just my opinion. -
In my humble opinion its not fair to people who cant afford to pay more to suffer longer waits. I think a good system would be to give everyone on entry a wristband with a barcode. Have 2 lines, One for 1st time riders (scan wristband) and one for 2nd or more times. Preference is given to those who havent ridden the ride that day. This way i know if I pay my entry fee, I would get the best chance of riding every ride in the park without queueing behind someone who has already been on a ride 10 time before that day. If I wish to reride something, I wait behind people who havent ridden that day. If the park cant handle giving everyone in the park at least 1 ride on any given day then they should really rethink the ride capacity of their rides. Just my 2 cents

If it did go into Seaworld, do you think they would remove the flume? I mean would people still ride the flume if the WC was built? Reasons to keep Another Attraction for people to ride Tamer than a water coaster for families, (although i see WC's as family.) A way for people to get wet in summer without lining up for the WC Reasons to get rid of it Similar to the new WC but less exciting Cost to run - maintenance and running cost Age I guess the same could be said for DW and their log ride. :/ -

Just trying to remember, but Seaworld have a height restriction on their attractions dont they? I wonder if a water coaster would go over that?
