They can also built on the dark green sections but it has to not affect the surrounding environment too much due to it being the home of Oakey Creek. You got to remember that figure is in annual revenue not total profit. For all we know, they may have heaps of cash to rely on. Also, 6289 people attended the re-opening weekend so that is probably 3145 people in 1 day. Say that continued every day since then and assume everyone brought a $55 1-day ticket. They have opened for 25 days so far (25 days x 3145 people x $55 = $4,324,375) - that is over $4 million in 1-day ticket revenue. Take away season pass holders from the attendance figure, take away the re-opening weekend donations from the final revenue figure, add food/beverage/merchandise/upcharge attraction sales etc., add the other ticketing options to the calculation, also take into account higher attendance due to peak season and you would get a more accurate figure. If they did receive only $4 million in revenue over 25 days, that would mean they are receiving $2,359,324 less in revenue on average. Again, remember that is revenue not total profit. If you made all the adjustments to the calculation above, for all we know, that may reduce that remaining loss in revenue to $0. In the end, there is no way at all we can estimate DW's current state without being a staff member or until an update is provided on the ASX or in the next AGM or by DW themselves - at least the paragraph above gives a rough starting point. I've found recently The Daily Mail just pretty much re-writes other articles of other mass media outlets. They don't write much themselves (though I should given them credit for actually attempting to contact Ardent Leisure). Anyway, that article is more of a photo gallery than an news article. Just look at this contradiction - "no queue" at The Claw yet this other photo of The Claw has a queue. Where did that other queue go? Found it. What is 1 way they could have taken this photo of a 'unusual summer queue'? Simply wait until the train leaves then take a photo of an empty queue (or the queue is just not shown in the photograph). Same with most photos - they might have just photographed immediately after opening or due to the extended hours, in the early morning/at lunch time when less people would be there. To some in this forum, this though, can be considered normal

VRTP did get approval in March/April last year for a new sound stage (not Sound Stage 9) - if it is not for the hypercoaster, maybe they are already implementing your idea? I agree with this but if they were to build anything on the island, it should blend in with the island's scenery. A hedge maze would do good there and add to the natural landscape of the island.

I believe they have been there a while during it's initial maintenance period - probably before they made the decision to permanently close. The answer is definitely no to your 1st question while your 2nd question, the boats could be shipped to somewhere else but the rest of the ride is less likely due to the complexity of it's removal, repair costs, current reliability & age.

Is it just the way they hold their harnesses or is there an interactive element to the VR now (unless I just didn't know until now?)?

If you haven't seen it, here is my idea for an 'open ocean' themed area at the SBNO Sea World Resort Water Park site. This isn't a new 'themed' area but given DW has a Motorsports Experience, I wished they utilised the remaining land/back of house area on the former Thunderbolt site to move MDMC to there as well as the Vintage Cars. To complete it, FlowRider would also be moved to inside Whitewater World allowing all the rides of the Motorsports Experience to be connected with flowing theming. This would be very difficult to do (especially a MDMC relocation) but it would make it a very decently themed area afterwards: Hotwheels Sidewinder Brock's Garage V8 Redline Simulators Mick Doohan's Motocoaster Vintage Cars When I first saw that movie in 2005, I hoped MW , at the time, would build a new dark water ride (to replace LTRR) to suit the film based on this scene: The show building being themed as the factory and the queue going through the 'factory' gates/doors, through the Wonka's Welcome Song animatronic display (not all burnt though), through the entrance/main corridor to the Chocolate Room (using forced perspective to make the next doorway look small) before wandering around the Chocolate Room to the edge of the Chocolate River. A trip along the Chocolate River being the ride's main part. The exit of the ride goes through the various other rooms of the factory before you enter the Great Glass Elevator as a 'post-show' section which 'transports' you back to MW. The dark water ride I could have seen being either a boat ride (like LTRR & BT), a water coaster or a river rapids ride. The former LTRR had 'elevators' which could have been re-themed as the Great Glass Elevator. I do know Alton Towers have a Charlie & The Chocolate Factory ride that is similar in concept.

Good point. These are rare but combined traffic light-roundabout intersections do exist. Maybe they can have one with the traffic lights only operating when the light rail goes past? I said it would have a 3 minute and 45 second headway - just enough to fit in. I agree if it goes under 3 minutes the light rail network is jammed. And to the everything else you wrote in your post, like I said, just purchase new trains but like you said, not too many that the headway causes the light rail network to jam.

Yes, but here's the logic behind my speculation: The park map was updated to reflect The Fire Machine & Kevil Hill Zombie Evolution - both temporary attractions. Since they also have revealed the external entrance to the Lego Store on the park map, I'd assume DW has an expectation that the Lego Store would open before the 15th of January as after that date, the park map would need updating again to remove all the Fire Machine & Kevil Hill Zombie Evoultion references. If they didn't have this expectation, they would've kept the 'Opening This Summer' graphic that hid the Lego Store's external entrance on the previous park map. I wouldn't think they would reveal the external entrance on the park map if they weren't expecting guests to soon walk into or out of it. They probably left 'Opening This Summer' on other parts of the park map to warn guests it may still be under construction & to save producing a new park map so shortly after an update. You also posted today that things are now appearing inside the Lego Store so construction & shop fitout must nearly be complete. In the end, it's just speculation of mine.

That quote from DW's 'What's Open' webpage has been removed. Also. DW's park map has been updated...but still no Rocky Hollow Log Ride. Kevil Hill Zombie Evolution & The Fire Machine have been added though. The updated version has also been published with the Lego Store 'opened' - even though it hasn't yet. It might be an error but they also put the Surf Central retail outlet's marker on the Lego Store's external entrance. No mention of an updated Market Place/Showbag Alley on the park map yet. DW's main exit is still through the main entrance. I have a feeling they might open the Lego Store before the new Market Place/Showbag Alley is completed but with this new park map, Lego Store looks like it's expected to open before the 15th of January. The Whitewater World logo has been removed from the front cover of the park map too. They have also put back on the park map the Goldrush Country label (despite the area being called Town Of Gold Rush for a few years still) after being removed in the previous version of the park map.

Not disagreeing with you (in case their website is not up to date) but why would they specifically mention cameras on their Ride Restrictions webpage then? If that was the case, they would've removed all references to Scooby-Doo immediately and re-named it with a generic theme.

Yes, there are numerous roundabouts but looking at satellites images, there is enough room on the side of the roads to fit in a light rail and avoid the roundabouts. I don't see why services have to be diverted - just buy new trains. There are already traffic lights just north of the Main Beach light rail station on the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway & Waterways Drive, the latter road being the likely starting route for a light rail to The Spit.

Not a stickler but have been interested in semantics a bit lately... I just thought it was pointless saying selected rides are open from 9am when all of them will be opening at 9:30am anyway. It is only 30 minutes difference which could include the time to enter the park, use the amenities & maybe only get 1 slide in. If it was 8:30am, I wouldn't have posted anything as 1 hour difference is enough to make you question why most slides are shut if you didn't know they would be opening in an hour's time.

It can work - just let them book a time period to use the attraction but not charge a fee. If the ride gets booked out, you just have to give it a miss or go another day. People don't normally visit every attraction at a theme park anyway - there is usually something they have missed regardless of it's significance in the park.

I think cameras are allowed on SDSC but whether MW wants it to be filmed without most of it's theming is another matter. I don't think the media would care unless it was found to be unsafe.

True but I'm sure it can be worked around. I based those statistics on the current route so it should be roughly correct and similar for a Spit branch line. There is only 1 set of traffic lights between Main Beach & Sea World so the total delay shouldn't be too long. There are probably more traffic lights to negotiate on the entire existing line than a future Spit branch line. It would be like a bus - electronic signs on the front & sides stating clearly 'To Sea World' while the others saying 'To University Hospital'. By the way, a bus shuttle probably would work and be easier to set up/manage but it is not the most appealing form of transport and that alone might reduce the number of guests utilising a bus connection from the light rail to Sea World and back.

True but depending on the part, wouldn't they wait until an order is made before producing it? Service plans sound possible though.

My thoughts - DW is definitely doing everything possible to win back the trust while the other parks are just complying with their safety audit requirements as well as now taking extra caution towards guest safety but they may not be 'trying' to operate at their usual standards due to the lower than usual attendance. SW might not be getting a lot of praise on here but at least they still got marine animals/educational exhibits. They are probably redirecting finances to non-ride projects this year or saving it for a major investment in future years. 2016 has been a big year for the Gold Coast parks - they are focusing on refurbishing this time - no doubt that it is for the Commonwealth Games: DC Comics Super-Villains Unleashed Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy Virtual Reality Star Tour - Access All Areas Wet 'n' Wild Buggy Super 8 Aqua Racer refurbishment Sea World Plaza refurbishment Stage 1 of Tiger Island refurbishment The Lego Store would have also opened had the Thunder River Rapids incident not occurred & the parks have been making other improvements to the park in general. There might have been more to add to that list above too but that's all I can remember right now. At least 1 theme park got a completely new non-upcharge attraction in Doomsday Destroyer - anywhere else in Australia, you could go a few years without a new ride so if you're a regular Gold Coast theme park visitor, consider how lucky you are to have new rides & attractions nearly every year. Bit unlucky though this year that Doomsday Destroyer has been in maintenance longer than it has been opened though...

I was surprised seeing those photos that @reanimated35 shared yesterday but was mainly disappointed that MW didn't warn guests yesterday that 'thematic enhancements' were underway. MW does have high theming standards but as long as it is temporary & guests are warned, then it is fine for me. For anyone who is wondering, here is a more panoramic version of 2 of those photos @reanimated35 shared: Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this photo is of the stations viewed from the final brake run while this photo is of the left turn after the 'axe-attacking knight statues'. It would be very difficult to do a Scooby Doo re-theme - it has to be based around Spooky Castle as that is the entrance to the ride and the carriages are the same as Spooky Castle's carriages. Unless MW changes the carriages (or re-themes them - I don't know how easy that is), it has to be themed to Spooky Castle. Extremely unlikely but if that was the case, I'd write a complaint letter. A dark ride (or an indoor ride) should never have VR in my opinion.

Did Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast really need to point out that selected slides open at 9am when all slides & attractions will be open 30 minutes later anyway? They could have just said 'Slides & attractions begin to open from 9am'. Given they did say 'selected slides', they could say which slides.

I agree with this but I just wish the dry attractions (and FlowRider) were not upcharges. The only non-upcharge dry attraction, Surfrider, opened as a combined wet/dry attraction. After seeing the final Buggy product, the cost makes more sense but given it's located inside a theme park, I don't think many people will use it as they've already paid a lot of money for tickets to the park. Local pass holders may use it occasionally though.

I don't see any reason why a branch light rail line from Main Beach to Sea World would not work. With concerns about capacity, just purchase more trains and fit them into the timetable. There are about 8 or 9 light rail trains operating on the existing line in it's peak operating periods. You would need minimum 2 for a Spit branch line terminating at Sea World - one heading north and one heading south. This would mean a frequency of about 1 every 25 minutes. 6 or 7 new trains maximum would see light rail arriving at Sea World every 7.5 minutes & increasing the frequency of the line between Main Beach & Broadbeach South to every 3 minutes and 45 seconds.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't theme parks only pay manufacturers for new rides just once (maybe plus a deposit)? They wouldn't be paying them during the ride's whole life cycle unless they paid in instalments or if it was for repairs to the ride that the manufacturers only specialise in. I'm pretty sure most (if not all) manufacturers don't build rides before selling them too. They wait until an order is made. Otherwise, the manufacturers would be wasting money (and space) on built rides that haven't yet (or never) got bought.

Given Boxing Day has past, I thought I'd share this graph from Google Trends: The red line is the search term 'movie world tickets' while the blue line is the search term 'dreamworld tickets'. The purple line is December 20-26 2015 while the black line is October 23-29 2016. The right side of the graph is currently the statistics for December 25-31 2016 so these statistics are incomplete as there are still 4 days left in that time period. I also noticed DW added this to their 'What's Open' webpage: Does this mean prices will increase once all the thrill rides have re-opened? And (this may be a incorrect interpretation) that online tickets/passes are now the only tickets/passes discounted? Yeah, those were the changes required in the prohibition notices. DW didn't decide to 'change' Buzzsaw first - they are just waiting until the safety audits are completed & if the audits say the rides are safe before re-opening any of them.

Super 8 Aqua Racer (as well as SkyCoaster) is no longer on Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast's maintenance webpage. I assume both re-opened today then?

Super 8 Aqua Racer is now scheduled to re-open on Wednesday the 28th of December 2016.
