  1. Yeah, true but I was more hoping it was a 'Nara Resort'-type hotel/resort that connected to either DW or the Westfield development. You only said Foxwell Road originally so I could only hope it was very near DW or the Westfield development.
  2. Thanks. I thought it was near the Westfield development but looking at Google Earth, it is about 4km away from DW. I found it through GCCC's PD Online (which I assume is what you mean by GCPD). Good for the Gold Coast but theme park-wise, nothing special - just ordinary local development. It's 215 rooms, a narrow complex and to be called along the lines of 'Coomera China Gardens Hotel/Resort' - something like that. It is themed to China.
  3. Thanks. From the plans I found on the GCCC website, it looks highly likely any new gate will come from near the Vintage Cars - there is a clear arrow pointing from Coomera Railway Station, navigating through the Westfield development site before stopping just near the Australian Wildlife Experience. It also seems to be built in 3 stages - the DW end being in Stage 2 (Part A). The supermarket in DW's end though can only begin trading...: Unsure if anyone has seen these already but I also found these plans of Stage 1 of Westfield Coomera if anyone is interested (doesn't include DW end). Link for that too, please?
  4. That's ok. Your post I didn't think was sarcastic but I thought it was the one...:
  5. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this Facebook post but given DW's recent VR theme choice, why do I think this is not a joke?
  6. Yeah, a very questionable choice regarding it's timing as it looks odd (from the outside) being built right next to Funnel Web, one of the most recent rides. But remember, The Perfect Storm's Tornado is enclosed with lights, special effects and possibly theming inside. When the theming is placed on top of the Tornado like shown on the park map, I'm sure it will look distinct from the outside also. The original plan for this development was to feature a Behemoth Bowl at the end but Jamberoo decided not to go through with it: It's very unlikely they are trying to beat Adventure World. Funnel Web & Kraken are actually pretty much very even in the records so no need to try to beat them particularly when the parks are over 3000 kilometres apart.
  7. Is there a link to the announcement @Brad2912? I'm interested in reading it. Depending on what the plans are, it could be possible then that Blue Lagoon might be being prepared for construction but unless Dreamworld Express is closed, I'd think it is unlikely (particularly if it is to build a gate). I don't think they would be 'late to the party' - yeah, the Commonwealth Games are in April 2018 but that only draws in tourists for 2 weeks. After all the media exposure during the Games, they should be another tourism boost after a short interval possibly in late 2018.
  8. I'm unsure if you are both are either being sarcastic or thinking I'm pointing out something obvious but I was only responding to this: They look like a new member so I thought I'd let them know.
  9. Yeah, still confused too as it looks odd from the outside but remember, it is an enclosed Tornado with lights, special effects and possibly theming inside. When the theming is placed on top of the Tornado like shown on the park map, I'm sure it will look distinct from the outside also. The small tubes shelter is also on an angle - I wonder if it will eventually be themed to a rusted corrugated galvanised iron-roofed wooden building (with a concrete chimney) like in The Perfect Storm's promotions?
  10. Management of the Gold Coast theme parks are known to read these forums especially the General Manager of Warner Brothers. Movie World!
  11. The Perfect Storm did open today!: Judging from the video, it looks like they still got to install theming on the Tornado portion & construct the small tubes shelter.
  12. Wet 'N' Wild Sydney opens tomorrow for it's 2016/2017 season. Like I was highly expecting, Dinosaur Lagoon is just dinosaur statues placed around Boomerang Bay: Wet 'n' Wild Sydney is having an 'opening celebration' over the weekend to celebrate the new season with Havana Brown performing on Saturday & Will Sparks performing on Sunday. Also, Weekend Today will be broadcasting live from the park on Sunday. If you want to be there while they go on the air, you can register here.
  13. Given there are 3 applications that refer to 'Stage 1', I assume they all refer to the same thing - that is, hotel, new attraction (Top Golf) and a lakeside/entertainment precinct. They all fit the nature of that area. I believe sometimes companies lodge development applications even though there is no guarantee it will be built 'just in case' they end up finalising negotiations in the near future. This ensures the project meets deadlines. If they don't finalise negotiations, companies would just then ignore the development application approval. With Top Golf, they were negotiating since January 2014: I think the development application 'Demolition Works For New Attraction' referred to demolishing Blazing Saddles Fun 'n' Games & Boot Hill for the DC Comics Super-Villains Unleashed area and like I said before, the 'New Attraction & Lakeside Precinct - Stage 1 Early Works' refers to Top Golf & an adjoining lakeside/entertainment precinct.
  14. I'm assuming the "township" refers to that Westfield development? If so, I still don't think the fence around the former Blue Lagoon area means construction. If they were to construct a link near Dreamworld Studios, they would need to close Dreamworld Express to build either a bridge over or a tunnel under the tracks.
  15. @Dreamer747, by the way, I think if you have a season pass that you bought online, received via e-mail & printed off, you will have to go to the ticket booths to the left of the entrance building to trade it for a permanent season pass. Again, not 100% sure but I think this is likely the case.
  16. Regarding the park map discussion, I know park maps are not perfect (I think Arkham Asylum's track layout is slightly incorrect for starters) but given we don't know all the effects of the DC Comics Super-Villians Unleashed area yet, I thought I'd speculate based on the park map as sometimes they give good clues. Also, I do think it is a fair comment to say the area is also not very colourful on the park map. It is colourful on the Show Stage side but not the HWSD side. Doomsday Destroyer, for example, clearly needs more green. It might just be me - park maps are one of my favourite things about theme parks after all - but I just think the lack of colour on the HWSD side is not aesthetically pleasing when reading the park map particularly if the park map builds expectations in the general public about how to expect that area to look.
  17. Ok, fair enough. I'll keep that in mind. Regarding launch mid-ride, I was more imagining the possibility of a dark ride section mid-ride which begins with a braking section before culminating in a launch. Lift hill mid-ride is a lot more unlikely as you can't theme a lift hill that much unless this new coaster is built especially for VR, which would allow a themed lift hill via VR. I have speculated the possibility of this coaster being built especially for VR:
  18. It might be just be me but for the most themed area in Australia, does the park map make it not look very colourful? Also, with the nitrogen tanker, is that fire drawn underneath it? Seems very unlikely due to WHS requirements but would that mean fire effects in that area despite it being themed to Captain Cold? Or is fire going to be drawn on the actual paving around the nitrogen tanker? (Again, unlikely due to the theme) Anyone noticed how they removed the Chinatown entrance on the park map too?
  19. I wasn't saying it should be a launch start. I was just pointing out that launched coasters & hypercoasters aren't separate types - you can have a launched hypercoaster. But to add to the discussion about lift hill vs launch, they could have a launch mid-ride for all we know anyway with a lift hill start or visa versa.
  20. Soakness must vary on those rides then. (I forgot this but...) I was referring to Viking's Revenge pre-Storm Coaster. I've never experience Viking's Revenge in it's current environment. Whilst it does provide good views, I like the castle as part of the theming but when on the ride itself, I found it a bit odd - once on top of the castle, you can't really tell it is a castle except when going under those arches. That's just what I think anyway.
  21. Like I said in another topic, I think it is highly unlikely that they are doing any construction around the former Blue Lagoon area or hiding the past. It is also impossible to hide the future I think I saw somewhere recently an aerial image of the former Blue Lagoon area with heaps of cars parked in there so I think it is now a staff car park and that's the last thing Dreamworld Express riders want to see.
  22. I agree with you @AlexB. Obviously Whitewater World is equivalent to Wet 'N' Wild but come to think of it, Dreamworld is like Paradise Country/Movie World combined. Yeah, true but firstly, Doomsday Destroyer hasn't officially opened yet and secondly, Arkham Asylum was originally built in 1995 but themed as Lethal Weapon. I did actually forget about Doomsday Destroyer so the 5th dot point I made can be ignored: I think it is highly unlikely that they are 'hiding' any construction or trying to make people 'forget' it either. I think I saw somewhere recently an aerial image of the former Blue Lagoon area with heaps of cars parked in there so I think it is now a staff car park and that's the last thing Dreamworld Express riders want to see. No to all of the above. Doesn't Rocky Hollow's final drop soak everyone much more than the other 3 rides? Theming wise, I think Viking's Revenge & Rocky Hollow are fairly even. Rocky Hollow does have 1 extra drop compared to Viking's Revenge though.
  23. Nah, you're not slack - everyone's situation is different but we are all theme park enthusiasts. I've been a few times to Jamberoo but haven't been since before Funnel Web opened so I got a lot to catch up on. I'm missing the G-forces of theme park rides in general too so hopefully I can visit heaps of theme parks again soon.
  24. If that's referring to me not knowing they were trialling it back in May, I haven't been to MW in over 5 years - just saying. Other news sources did report it over the past few days but yes, Gold Coast Bulletin was the last to report it
