Inside Today:the Bat, the Bunny & The Bermuda Triangle
Jamberoo Fan replied to MickeyD's topic in Theme Park Discussion
How did we go from talking about 'Bermuda Triangle', 'Batman Adventure: The Ride 2' and 'Looney Tunes River Ride' to about what really is considered a 'theme park'? -

Ah I might be a bit of a pain here haha but does that mean my local council park that has a pirate themed playground in it count as a 'theme' park? Just a joke -
If it was a dry ride park like Dreamworld or Warner Brothers. Movie World then I would agree with you but it is like Wet 'n' Wild Water World versus Whitewater World. Wet 'n' Wild is the most familar brand and attracts everyone while Whitewater World whilst being a great park isn't currently as familar as Wet 'n' Wild yet to the general public. You only find out about Whitewater World usually from Dreamworld (to the general public). Dax Eddy said most of Jamberoo's target market and visitors are from the Illawarra and Western Sydney - right where Wet 'n' Wild Sydney is to be built. With the familar 'Wet 'n' Wild' brand, they could lose maybe half their visitors to Wet 'n' Wild Sydney.
-
Why couldn't they have integrated it into the Wild West area like they did with 'Blazing Saddles Fun 'n' Games'? I know 'Blazing Saddles Fun 'n' Games' is harder to notice than the 'Intercity' games but surely an integrated Wild West theme isn't that hard to find?
-
Great find. I've always wanted to know what that attraction was like. I prefer that more than the Intercity Bumper Cars or The Official Matrix Exhibit. It kind of equals or is probably better than the Harry Potter Movie Magic Experience in my opinion.

That's great news to hear that the concept has been approved. I wouldn't get fully excited yet as it says in the article 'get back to the government by March on “conditions” made on the project'. Jamberoo's 'Kangaroo Island' proposal is currently in the same spot. It is approved but 'conditions' have kept knocking back the actual start of construction. The latest change Jamberoo had to make was the colour of some of the rides. Hopefully no more 'conditions' for Jamberoo. If the Government is actually satisfied with the response to Wet 'n' Wild Sydney's 'conditions' then I could say "start cheering!". But I do feel a bit sad for Jim and Dax Eddy of Jamberoo Action Park who have put in so much effort to build a park as close as possible to a 'Gold Coast' water park. Now they have competiton. The sooner 'Kangaroo Island' can start construction, the better. But it's great that Wet 'n' Wild Sydney is getting closer to construction.

Sorry if this is a pointless post or if it has already been posted but I noticed they reworded the notice of 'Bermuda Triangle''s closure on the 'Attractions Maintenance' page of the Sea World website. It now reads 'Bermuda Triangle has been permanently closed'. The 'to make way for an exciting new attraction' bit is gone. I haven't been on here in ages so sorry if this has been already mentioned. If it is a pointless post because it could be just 'nothing' then well sorry. At least it can generate some discussion. -
From the 'Illawarra Mercury' on the 12/11/2011. Details on Jamberoo's smartphone app here: http://www.jamberoo....eroo-iphone-app Buy the Jamberoo Action Park smartphone app here: http://itunes.apple....54838?ls=1&mt=8 This is not an announcement of a new bus service from Campbelltown Railway Station to Jamberoo Action Park and return. A bus service has been running for some time and currently runs between Kiama Railway Station and Jamberoo Action Park. They have only announced that they have a bus that runs on the current bus service route which is totally decorated with Jamberoo Action Park marketing. A picture was provided in the 'Illawarra Mercury' article of the new bus but I cannot post it.

The colour of the ride (to me) suggests a Green Lantern theme but looking at Gold Coast City Council development applications it might suggest a Batman theme because a development application for the shop suggests it: 'FITOUT BATMAN RETAIL OUTLET AT MOVIE WORLD' This is another application. It's not the 'EARLY WORKS APPROVAL - BATMAN RETAIL OUTLET' application. Still, the ride and new 'super store' may have separate themes. The new 'super store' doesn't currently look like it's Green Lantern themed in my opinion.

Saw on Dreamworld's maintenance page - "Shockwave under maintenance until further notice". I know I'm not an expert on ride operations but this ride has been opened nearly 2 months! I hope it's not going to be a ride with frequent breakdowns/maintenance. Someone who knows more should be able to tell if this maintenance is like a concern for the ride's future.
-
When I see those pictures of Buzzsaw, I get the image in my mind of an American-like theme park with huge rollercoasters dominating the skyline (even though it's just a SkyLoop and Movie World's skyline is better in my opinion)
-
The size of the shop near construction has clearly increased in size dramatically. Movie World publicised it as a 'New Super Store' on their park map. But what will be the shop's theme? Here are before and after shots. Before After

True - "Guests who ‘Stay the Night’ will participate in unsettling themes or occurances. This experience will last from 10pm – 3am. Due to the extreme nature of the ‘Stay the Night’ Experience, guests must be over 15 years of age. We recommend participants with heart conditions, pregnancy, nervous disposition, serious phobias or any other medical condition of this nature do not participate. Guests agree to participate at their own risk" From Dreamworld's Facebook (Buzzsaw Contest) Anyone notice we got the 'BIG 7 THRILL RIDES' now?
-
It would be cool if Dreamworld opened at night to emphasize the backstory - highly unlikely though. It would also be cool if the attraction was half Skyloop and half scare attraction (A short pre-ride (after queue)/post-ride scare attraction). I don't think that would happened though but it would be great.
-
Sad to hear it's now permanetly closed. I hope a worthwide new ride will replace it. It now only leaves "Speedy Gonzales Tijuana Taxis" as the only original ride and attraction left.
-
"Super 8 Aqua Racer will be closed for intermittent periods from 1 August until mid September due to maintenance and construction activity" - Wet 'n' Wild Water World website. Is it a new ride heading our way or not? Thoughts?...or confirmation about what is happening there? It would fit in appropiately with the 'new rides at the front on the left' trend this year lol
-
Well at least they kept the promise of a July announcement by 6 hours! I wish they could have confirmed the ride type or theme at least
-
The news may be a week late but at least you know now. I did try to submit an article to Parkz for publication on the site but only if there was an internet source confirming it. Since then, a newspaper article has confirmed it which just didn't get published on the internet. The 'Kangaroo Island' expansion has been approved by the Southern Region Joint Regional Planning Panel... ...but with heaps of strict conditions. Due to these new conditions, Dax Eddy told the local media that the expansion is now 'uncertain'. They are in talks with legal groups to see if the expansion is now viable. If it is and they proceed with plans, they will need to gain a construction certificate to commence construction. The rides to be built would include: [*]'Platypus River' - a Lazy River (with Action Rapids) [*]'Funnel Web Falls' - a Tornado/Abyss [*]'Kookaburra Cove' - a Rain Fortress [*]'Koala Creek' - a Kids Themed Water Play Zone [*]'Cockatoo Gorge' - an enclosed Behemoth Bowl [*]'Thunder Downunder' - an Uphill Water Raft Coaster [*] 'Emu Mountain Rapids' - a Mammoth and Tantrum Alley The article was published last Friday, two to three days after approval was granted. A poll was commissioned by the Illawarra Mercury asking the question 'Is the expansion of Jamberoo Action Park a good thing?'. Current Results - Yes: 83.3%, No: 16.7%. You can vote here - http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/polls/?page= The strict conditions are listed in JRPPPanelMeetingMinutes2011STH001Endorsed.pdf at http://jrpp.nsw.gov.au/DevelopmentRegister/tabid/62/ctl/view/mid/424/JRPP_ID/563/language/en-AU/Default.aspx Here's the 'gold mine' of information I refered to in previous posts - http://www.kiama.nsw.gov.au/ftp/ It has everything about it...well since they last updated it in March. Ignore "FarmgateLaunch" and "NBN" in the link's webpage. (Those two are links to National Broadband Network and other council stuff). The only good news out of all this (in a way) is that the Racing Cars, for now, won't cease operation.

The new 'Kangaroo Island' development now has to get (what I believe as to be final) approval by the Southern Region Joint Regional Planning Panel for construction to commence. A Southern Region Joint Regional Planning Panel meeting was held with lots of people attending to voice opinion. Traffic Management was the most worried concern. Hopefully it gets the approval!!! On another note, can someone fix up the last couple of database changes I made for Jamberoo Action Park especially the 'Kangaroo Island' development ones?
-
Thanks! Nice to hear that I could be better than Dreamworld lol. Let's see how many I get right in the end lol and how well Dreamworld did If 'How To Train Your Dragon' is more appropriate, then it probably is. I haven't seen 'How To Train Your Dragon' and wasn't sure which ride it would fit (especially since I didn't know the plot). I did have a hard time figuring out a theme for the Sky Rocket coaster as you can see I ended up with an elaborate 'Ckicken Run' themed coaster.

With Dreamworks being pretty much confirmed unofficially to move into Kids World, how does everyone think each ride/attraction will be themed? There's my opinion I made a few weeks ago above.

I agree too. I was just making a statement in reference to what pin142 said. -
Dreamworld Summer Surprise December 2011
Jamberoo Fan replied to Linus1995's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I believe it's the Nickelodeon Central theme replacement as well. Dreamworld's Facebook as I saw on Dreamworld's home page says '2 New Rides and a massive Summer Surprise!'. If it was a third ride, why not just say '3 New Rides!'? Two rides were announced for this year so where on earth would all the money come from for a third new ride? It's probably just the Nickelodeon Central theme replacement. -

If they use the same ride system again, they might as well leave the ride open still
