  1. It should get a fresh paint job for a new theme. It is probably going to take a while for everything Nick-themed to disappear. It probably was unexpected. If it was well-known that the contract was going to cease, I believe they would have closed each ride one at a time and spent some time re-theming it. They wouldn't have built Kite Flyer as 'Spongebob Flypants' if they knew it was unlikely that the contract was going to continue. I'm also guessing, in my opinion, that Shockwave was built in the old 'Chalk Zone' area of Nickelodeon Central because the contract ceased therefore providing extra space. If Kids World is temporary and Dreamworks moves in instead (would be appropriate lol because it is in Dreamworld) I think the rides/attractions should be themed like this: Pipeline Plunge - Themed to Flushed Away Rainforest Rampage - Themed to Madagascar Mighty-Go-Round - Themed to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Kite Flyer - Themed to Bee Movie The Dream Bowl - Themed to Shrek (like themed to a royal court where they could have a Shrek show) Avalanche - Themed to Antz (turn mountain into giant ant hill? lol) or Kung Fu Panda (snow-capped Chinese mountain) Swinger Zinger - Themed to Dreamworks Animation in general Bumper Beach - Themed to Over The Hedge (pictures of a suburban community & characters on ride walls) Sky Rocket Rollercoaster - Themed to Chicken Run (ride building themed to a larger than life chicken coop, the ride area themed as the chicken farm and the carriages as the plane they attempt to escape in if its possible) I haven't seen all Dreamworks Animations films so if a ride doesnt match a film properly don't make a fuss but thats my opinion anyway. It would probably cost a lot for all new theming especially after 2 new rides.
  2. To add to its confirmation, here are some attachments of what the Dreamworld/Whitewater World Park Map now looks like: You can clearly see Nickelodeon theming has been removed and 'Slime Bowl' is renamed to 'The Dream Bowl'. Strangly, on the park map, Bumper Beach remains Nickelodeon-themed. The 'Nick Pix' shop is now called 'Fun Snapz' and the 'Nick Stuff' shop is now called 'Kid Spot'. The 'CatDog Pizza Shack' is now called simply 'Pizza Shack'. The generic 'Kids World' theme, I hope, is temporary. They could find a better theme that is kid/tween-related. Reef Diver's mention is probably, in my opinion, just to attract 'Tweens' to it. I wonder how will they achieve the 'Sky Rocket' theme? Also, no one I believe has noticed this but the 'Blue's Skidoo' ride is not mentioned in anything about the new 'Kids World'. Finally, it is nice to see Avalanche has retain its original name from the 1980's. That's probably the best change in theming.
  3. Dreamworld's 'Kenny Koala' on their Facebook page has said they are still finalising theming for Shockwave. On Dreamworld's updated park map, it may give you an idea of the possible theming for the new ride:
  4. How is the construction on the new rollercoaster going? Has Thunder River Rapids and the Dreamworld Railway reopened yet? Because they were to re-open yesterday after the construction...if any construction hsd actually occurred yet.
  5. I don't have facebook yet but I saw on Movie World's facebook that someone asked them recently 'Is there going to be any new rides soon?'. Movie World's reply - 'Well, keep watching this page.'. Fingers crossed that reply isn't a little tease lol
  6. Ok must be dodgy lol. I now remember Jet Rescue was running when I was at Gold Coast last April but it was running a train with 1 broken carriage. Motocoaster seemed a lot worse though in my opinion because it was closed all day when I was there. But Jet Rescue is the better of the two in my opinion.
  7. I don't like to fuel speculation about the possible Nickelodeon contract termination. I would rather wait till an official announcement is made but for the first time I couldn't help thinking that it was possible after seeing this on Dreamworld's website: "Dreamworld and WhiteWater World’s winter holiday offering is enough to send chills of excitement down your spine with a brand new ride and a brand new character bringing both awesomeness and attractiveness for just $69 per person from 25 June, 2011" "Meet PO Making his debut appearance at Dreamworld this winter holidays, meet the clumsy aspiring warrior Po, from Kung Fu Panda" Link: http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Winter-Holiday/ That is a Dreamworks character (obviously). If they have a roaming character of Dreamworks, there must be a possible licence agreement somewhere in some form. From reading old forum posts (correct me if i'm wrong), remember how Elmo from Sesame Street was roaming Sea World before Sesame Street Beach was announced? And finally remember how I wrote on these forums that they are screening 'Kung Fu Panda 2' in the Dreamworld Cinema? I didn't even realise that this was Dreamworks feature film screening so soon after Dreamworld abandoned screening feature films while Nick Central's themeing was apparantly disappearing. And please remember that this is my opinion and speculation not an official announcement(except for the stuff in the Dreamworld website link).
  8. Probably irrelvant and no need to mention it but the Mick Doohan Motocoaster is closed for maintenance from 15 June with no conclusion date. When I was up at the Gold Coast couple of months ago, I noticed the Motocoaster closed without being scheduled. Is this a poorly maintained or badly designed/run ride? Well it is badly designed in some way - not the 'thrill' ride I was expecting lol. Or (even though to me its unlikely) is something happening in that area? But there was probably no need to mention this - Motocoaster to me doesnt make much difference open or closed lol.
  9. I think the difference from Parkz to Theme Park Review is that it's got a stronger YouTube fan base and as YouTube is one of the most popular websites in the world, whereelse would you go to see videos and POV's of your favourite rides and coasters? The only two YouTube channels relating to theme parks is Theme Park Review and The Coaster Views. YouTube is accessed by millions daily while Parkz you would have to find through other websites, ads and a search engine. Parkz is mostly about discussing theme parks and rides with other enthusiasts than watching videos of rides and coasters.
  10. Thanks for the pics. Hopefully more track pieces will arrive especially before 22 June (reopening of Thunder River Rapids and Dreamworld Railway) otherwise they might be closed longer than you think. If thats the colour of the track, hopefully that colour can be cleverly intergrated into the 'Gold Rush Country' theme. But it could be possible that they may be painted too.
  11. On the money - Only between 18th June and 14th July (Queensland school holidays) the feature films return with 'Kung Fu Panda 2 3D' showing in the Dreamworld Cinema. It still costs extra at $9 per person and is shown 3 times per day (11am/4pm/6pm). Dreamworld isnt targeting this feature film towards interstate visitors but towards 'Annual Pass Holders, Local visitors, International visitors and tour groups who are in park'.
  12. It has been at Dreamworld since 1982 - thats for sure. But it could have been relocated from Magic Mountain prior to its opening at Dreamworld or may have originally opened at Dreamworld. I don't really know where it originally operated from - you may be right. But it is fact that it has been at Dreamworld since 1982 originally called the 'Red Baron'.
  13. I thought that ride used to be in the old Country Fair area as the 'Red Baron'. Or did it operate at Magic Mountain before moving to Dreamworld as the 'Red Baron' in 1982?
  14. Last time i was at Dreamworld (last april), the Dora the Explorer Sea Planes site was just empty with some plants inside it i believe. Blue's Skidoo is located behind it.
  15. What happened to Dora The Explorer Sea Planes? I know it's removal happened quite a while ago but was just wondering if there was a reason for its removal?
  16. Yeah you know what I mean lol Im not that stupid lol and that was just bad word choice lol And im rarely up at the Gold Coast so i dont know much about what happens up there or the detail in their theme park layouts. Im more up-to-date with Jamberoo Action Park and thats it. The internet only allows me to know what happens at Gold Coast theme parks. But anyway lets get back to topic - Wet 'n' Wild Sydney
  17. Sad if it is true but i like to point out that Spongebob Flypants and Swinger Zinger are in maintenance now or have been in the past 2 weeks according to Dreamworld website so it could still be a maintenance issue. If it is true, wait & see if Dreamworld makes an annnouncement or wait & see if the giant Reptar statue next to the Runaway Reptar Rollercoaster disappears lol
  18. No I don't think it has to use the wooden tower. I just want to see activity in that area. Where the Terror Canyon slides run they should have some new water slide instead of a dry pay per use ride which is placed dominantly in the air space above it. For example, a new Tantrum Alley from ProSlide could fit that space.
  19. I agree - Terror Canyon is dated and therefore got replaced with the Blackhole in the Extreme H20 Zone which does have more thrills but in my opinion, I just see Terror Canyon as a better use of space than the Zipline. And some water parks do work with dry rides. Jamberoo is heading to 'water park' status but still has 5 dry rides/attractions - bobsled, racing cars, chairlift, landscape golf and the 'Jamberoo Express' trackless train due to its orginal idea of a recreation park. Personally, i think water parks shouldnt have these dry rides unless some water element is involved. Examples can include the WipeOut at Dreamworld when its heyday had all the water fountains operating. The SurfRider at Wet'n'Wild is another example (i think its got water fountains but havent seen them working yet).
  20. Same. Water parks are about water slides not dry rides. I didnt like seeing the Zipline at Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast because it took up the space of a good ride, Terror Canyon 1 & 2, and there is literally no queue for it due to the bookings and payments you have to make to go on it - therefore is kind of a waste of space. And personally, the Skycoaster is kind of an eyesore but does grab peoples attention at its size. The only pay per play attraction for water parks i believe is the FlowRider and that is much more popular than the Skycoaster and Zipline in my opinion
  21. Dreamworld put 'Shockwave' into it's 'Family Rides' section of it's website as a 'Moderate Thrill Ride' http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Rides/Family-Rides/Shockwave.aspx - its pretty much the media release
  22. Yeah true. They probably using this one - https://majorprojects.affinitylive.com/public/59eff5e204f6cf4685daa005f94747e2/Appendix_U_Site_Plans_and_Design_Drawings%201.pdf because it is off a NSW Government website. Any thoughts on this newer version? or does anyone prefer the older version?
  23. Found another version of the Wet 'n' Wild Sydney layout - https://majorprojects.affinitylive.com/public/59eff5e204f6cf4685daa005f94747e2/Appendix_U_Site_Plans_and_Design_Drawings%201.pdf Which one are they using? That one or the one on the official Wet 'n' Wild Sydney website - http://www.wetnwildsydney.com.au/pdf/WNW_Sydney_Proposal.pdf ?
  24. Correct me if i'm wrong but i think the 'Rapids River Loop' is just simply an extension of the main lazy river. This loop extension is probably where the rapids are created so the extension allows the 'thrill-seekers' to go one way where the waves are while the people who like to relax and be 'lazy' to go the other way where it is a gentle flowing current before the two rejoin each other again.
