Actually, I have an Xbox 360 and I don't consider myself a "real big gaming nerd". Mind you, I don't play it that often, but graphics aren't the only reason people buy these gaming consoles. I personally couldn't care less whether I was playing RCT3 on my shotty laptop or Top Spin Tennis on my Xbox 360. It's the fun of the game that most people would buy the console for. I think a narrow minded viewpoint on people who play computer games of the like is one of the reasons why we have judging and labeling in society. There are thousands of people - if not millions - out there like me who got an Xbox 360 for a rainy day, when they were bored or simply because they saw a TV advertisement. By the way PixelPushed, are you in a position to judge the three consoles if you don't own them all? Or are you simply a self confessed "real big gaming nerd" yourself?

I hate Dreamworld. One stupid, money-driven move after another. I know they are a business, and I expect them to make money, but maybe they should realise that if they continually install these cheap upcharge attractions and don't focus on rides - which I'm sure 99% of Dreamworld's customers visit the park for, the park is going to find themselves on the same route as Magic Mountain or a park of the like. They can't just expect to plonk anything anywhere and wait for the cash to come in. I think I've said this before, but soon Dreamworld will have to start making the right decisions and not the easy ones. I'm sure MLT could build an entertainment precinct elsewhere; so why do they have to wreck any 'spirit' Dreamworld once had? It's an absolute joke. This time 10 years ago I loved to visit Dreamworld but now I would rather just go to the shops or stay at home.

I went on it about 2 weeks ago... it is a lot of fun; unfortunately it should be longer but anyhow, still a great ride. I don't know if they've fixed it but the left spray is sort of dodgy and it kind of hurts when you sit on the right side of the car and go face first into it. You can hear the water smack against the people - I did it for fun of course but still The line is pretty average. 20min-half an hour wait when the queue is full. If you're a first time rider the wait is worth it but after that don't bother. It feels really cool as well. It doesn't really feel like the Claw at all - the forces seem to be different (I know they probably aren't so don't get technical) but it's just a completely different ride. Lot's of fun though.

Being first to reply.. that's such good news. A big step forward for the site which I am proud to be a member of. Change is always good. I love the new concept - it's very cool. I wasn't too keen on the name 'Parkz' until I had a look at the screenshot and it sort of reflects the overall concept of the new site in a sense. I love the new layout... although (even though Superman is there) I would love to see a more Australian-based top banner considering that it ultimately still is an Australian site. Hopefully we'll see a B&M Hyper in Australia soon and you won't need to change it at all What I want to know is if the latest posts thing on the front page will still be there.

Right you are Spotty - it does need a replacement. Yet, unfortunately what seems to be the trend with Dreamworld is they are replacing too much and expanding too little. A EuroFighter would be great, but lately my mind is drawn towards the fact that this is ultimately Dreamworld, don't expect much. I'd be surprised if there was a new attraction next year, and I'd be shocked if it was anything to get excited over. While it would be nice to have several additions to Dreamworld, the fact is that right now it isn't going to happen. We can only hope that our friends up the road stay on the right path. If they do, they are sure to run Dreamworld out of business. By the way; I drive past Dreamworld every day pretty much - I had a look the other day at WhiteWater World and the Green Room is not a pretty sight. It's faded badly and it has a slight orange tinge in some areas (some sort of stain I'm guessing)... I hope they can at least manage their new park.

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
myk replied to AugustVonPolen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just watched the video, and seriously, what a piece of ****. That is not a thrill ride. I don't know how Dreamworld got away with that without being prosecuted for false advertising. -
2008 New Attractions to keep crowds coming
myk replied to mattcrombie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think Wet'n'Wild's next move should be an enclosed bowl slide of some sort - something that differentiates from WWW's version. I've always loved the DiscoH2O concept; I think something like that would work well. -
They are no longer opening the rides at night. Only the H2O Zone stays open whilst the movie is on - everything else is shut.

What's with the fat kid singing? Does not help that article at all. But the Taipan sure looks fun

Yeah I actually agree with Tony sorry Richard, he was just giving his opinion on it. I don't think it was Churros' attention to sound like a smart ass, and when I read his post I didn't really think he sounded like one.. having experience in the area of smart ass-ness myself I think both of you have raised valid points - but I dare say Dreamworld has not made the right decision in terms of their land utilisation. They really could have pulled this off a lot better, but the fact that MLE is money driven (CityWalk) stopped them from using the space WWW occupies as Dreamworld's much needed expansion and using the proposed CityWalk area in a few years as WWW. But as I said, both of you have valid arguments and you are both more educated on the topic than me I'm sure I speak for many others here too. I guess I am just overall disappointed at Dreamworld - which is the general feel we get on the boards these days.

Reports that people are saying - the fact that it isn't launching etc. It only goes half way up the tower. Last time I went to Dreamworld it stopped really suddenly on the way back, I thought we were going to keep going. They ended up closing the ride for 10 mins and testing it out again before reopening. I just don't feel it is safe. When I look around the park and I see the level of maintenance, I am scared to ride it, because at it's age it needs attention. By the looks of things, it isn't getting it.

I just look at Dreamworld today and I think... wow. Dreamworld is a hole. I just don't get it anymore. I don't get how people still go there and enjoy their day. I don't get why Wiggles World and the Motocoaster were placed at Rivertown. I don't get why the Spooty Spin has turned from an indigo colour to a faded purple mess. I don't get why the Claw is at Ocean Parade when it has nothing to do with the ocean - or let alone anything. I don't get why the mine ride is still closed. I don't get why Thunder River Rapids has dinosaurs in it as its 'theme'. I don't get why the log ride in conjunction with the Giant Drop. I don't get why the Tower of Terror is a hike to walk to. I don't get how Tiger Island looks like a run down mess. But most of all, I don't get why MLE hasn't done anything. The place, quite obviously, needs an overhaul of at least $150m. The entrance needs to be rebuilt. The TOT needs to be removed and the GD needs to be rethemed. The Cyclone is on it's last legs. There needs to be a new coaster. There needs to be paint everywhere - not spraypaint as they have done on the Claw. When I look at Movie World, I think of their slogan 'Hollywood on the Gold Coast'. And Movie World really is that. Yet I look at Dreamworld and their 'So many world's in one'. and I think - so many world's? This is more like Too many worlds in one. The place is quite honestly had its run. WhiteWater World even makes Dreamworld look ugly. You can already see the Green Room starting to deteriorate. I remember getting really excited to go to Dreamworld when I was 10 - back before the times of Nick Central. That's when Dreamworld was okay. It is, right now, in dire need of a makeover. It has lost its magic... and is in no hope of getting it back at this rate. If they expect attendance to go up, they need to do something. This wouldn't happen with Disney.

Disneyland at Xmas time is only packed at night. When I went, we only had to use fastpass once but it was less than 30mins wait for even Indiana Jones. It's so nice at xmas, all decorated.
-
I'm pretty sure you get wet on it.
-
I'm not saying there is a chance for Disney, I'm saying that Australia is turning to bigger things in terms of theme park rides.
-
What would be the point of having 2 similarly themed wet rides in the one area?
-
I think we are all being a bit pessimistic here. The way I see it is yes, Disney currently can't afford the loss of putting a park here. But they are looking; and that is a start. Something like that indicates that maybe now is the time where we start to see these big additions here on the Gold Coast. We can't remain isolated from the theme park world for much longer. I think it's great

That looks like Deluge at SFKK to me. The place where that girl got her legs chopped off.
-
They couldn't fill that lake, it is the filter system for a lot of the water that the dolphins use. If that water had increased turbidity, it could seriously harm the animals. I don't think Sea World has much expanding to do anyway. Corkscrew will be as good as dead soon so that gives them some space.
-
Rules me out. Hhahahah jokes.

WOW! That looks absolutely awesome! Thank you so much Churros! SurfRider will be opening in October.

Does anyone know whether the dodgems are extra charge yet?
-
Oh yeah, you would know cos you are him. Or is that someone else I'm thinking about?

Let's hope by shell, they mean beach shell, not petrol Shell. I wonder if dreamworld rulz got to ride them? lol.
