The Wonderpass after 5pm rule is common at a lot of parks for late night trading..... I know of a few parks in the States that do the same thing
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure, by law, Wonderland would have to have proof that they have the money
-
Makes me wonder if the park's plans will change at all when Luna Park reopens next year. Although perhaps not a direct competitor, surely it would pose some sort of competition to Wonderland's market

Question: Wouldn't it be stupid for Wonderland to add an Aqua Golf course? Firstly, Panthers, a 10 minute drive away, in Penrith, already has an Aqua Golf course. Secondly, Panthers and Wonderland are involved in a lot of package deal sales... So basically, why bite the hand that feeds you?

Well here's to still hoping.... But in all honesty, imo, I don't think it would matter too much if the new slides they may be building didn't open until after September. I mean, The Beach doesn't start to see huge crowds until late October / early November usually, when the weather really starts to warm...

New water rides? Movies at the beach? Late night dance parties? Certainly sounds like Wonderland is aiming at big Saturday nights this Summer....Perhaps with The Beach being open after dark for once....
-
Drop rides are my favourite too.... But I'd love to try some of the Huss Giant collection...

You have got to be freaking kidding..... Please tell me you're joking....

The latest Wonderland rumour to be posted on Screamscape mentions the addition of something new to The Beach this year. But on a more interesting note, they claim that Wonderland may be adding a new Sally Dark Ride by the end of 2004. Does anyone know anything about this? Can anyone confirm it? If the rumours of the ride being themed to a Marvel movie being released next year are true, and if this claim also turns to be true, we could have an interactive dark ride themed around Spiderman 2 by the end of 2004?!? After all, Sally does have their Asia-Pacific office in Sydney....

Absolutely agree with you joz. While it is sad to see a ride that has been around for 20 years be finally put to rest, at least Dreamworld is replacing it with something else. We have other parks in Australia (I'm sure I don't need to name names) which happily remove and close rides without replacing them. Dreamworld's decision, imo, was the right one. The sheer cost which would be involved in planning, removing and constructing a rehabbed Thunderbolt would simply not be worth it... A new coaster could probably be constructed for a similar price. And, in terms of flats, I can't imagine anything nicer for that spot than something like a Huss Giant Frisbee in the view from Central Plaza towards Ocean Parade. I think two coasters makes that area look much too crowded anyway.....

Nope, park has announced that the ride will be dismantled and the area used for something (or plural) new.....

I agree, a show, done well, could definately be a real draw card. Paramount Parks (I forget which one/s) in the states are getting Tomb Raider action/stunt shows this season, so perhaps that is what Dreamworld has on the cards for this Christmas. When I contacted the park over the weekend I was given told "Thunderbolt has been closed down to make way for new attractions. We'll be releasing information over the next year".... Judging from that, it won't just be one announcement for the former site. Perhaps the show this Christmas, and the thrill market ride announced next year? Personally, as sad as it is to see a coaster go, I'm all for theme park progress, and, personally, it was getting to be quite the eyesore..... Rusting white paint just doesn't make a theme park look very well maintained....
-
Personally, I don't think we'll be seeing a new coaster on this site....At least not this year..... I could be wrong.... From the Dreamworld website: "The Thunderbolt is now retired to pave the way for new attractions. " I think we'll first see an expansion, possibly of Ocean Parade. Wasn't there meant to be a new plaza area being built on that site?

Wonderland Turns Transylvania Into A Year Round Mardi Gra!

Dulux had a sale on discontinued lines..... -
Last time I remember seeing two train operation on Thunderbolt was on my first visit to the park back in 1993. They only ran two trains for a few hours then changed back to one. Seems that it's just too much effort to run two......

How long would it take to dismantle a ride like that? A few months at least? Maybe Macquarie has changed their mind.....They're attendance has been quite good this year.... If it's true, it's still kind of sad......

Well like thunder said, the beach area will receive a new face. This could mean an addition, along with some long overdue renovations to the area. Replacing the flooring on the tower could be the first of a number of steps.......?

These are the only ones I could find. A few aren't the best quality, and some are fairly similar to others.....But it's mainly for those who were interested in seeing a few more. Sorry it took me so long

We've all heard the 'urban legends' of the theme park world. Some of them are absolute classics.... The most unexpected incident I've witnessed involving the TOT happened one day during the Christmas holidays a few years back. While waiting in line for the Giant Drop, the TOT launched as normal. As it launched up the side of the tower, everyone noticed some things falling from the sky. As they reached the ground we noticed that they were peacock feathers. Turns out one of Dreamworld's beloved peacocks with very bad timing had stranded onto the TOT track and.....SPLAT. Guests in the Giant Drop gondolas at the time came off the ride holding tail feathers. Quite disgusting really......

1) Definately 2) I haven't seen how the lights look on the Cyclone train, but the looked great against the red carriage of the Dipper. I thought they would've looked a tad odd against black and green? But like I said, I haven't seen them working on the new paintwork.

I read in one of the local papers when on holidays down the south coast a good 3-4 years ago, that the owner of the park was looking at installing a new ride 'unlike anything else in Australia'. Of course this was before they installed that slide that's very similar to Super 8 at Wet N Wild, so I guess they didn't succeed in fulfilling that aim...

I thought I would take a drive past Wonderland today....So it was my first chance to see the land clearing near the Beach that everyone has been talking about...... I'm not sure how many people have seen it, but it is very noticeable from the road..... There is new construction fencing around the area. It isn't anywhere near the Business Park construction, as Richard said, so it doesn't look like it's related to that. It also isn't a continuous long stretch of clearing so, despite some rumours, it really doesn't look anything like a new entrance to the park would. Speaking of the street directories though, the 2003 version of the UBD does have one of the car park slabs missing from the map and it has been replaced by Wonderland Business Park (under construction). Here's hoping the Beach will be expanded this summer. And while it's not what I've been hoping for, at least it's something
-
I like that map because it was, I guess you could call it, when Wonderland underwent their 'funky' sort of period. They got their new logo...... And it was also the same time that they had ads out with the "I can be happy" music and the "Get out of everyday land and get into Wonderland" slogan.....
-
Sorry but you'll have to clear this up for me..... Are you saying it closed because it's too big or because they no longer have rights for usage of the land? I'm having trouble following now...
