  1. @BiggieNiggie Have you tried emailing Movie World directly to ask about it? Or even just message them directly via their official FB page, their social media team are fairly on the ball with general Q&A. They would likely point you in the best direction to find it (if it has been commercially released in any way, of course) ☺️ Good luck ?
  2. @BiggieNiggie It's not a song, it doesn't have lyrics. It's just creepy background music on loop. Wouldn't surprise me if VRTP had it made up from scratch for the ride itself, otherwise possibly taken from the old cartoons?
  3. More surveying happening in Dreamworld Corroboree today ? Lots of 'official' looking business people in the area as well discussing things lol (was trying to take a photo of the crocodiles. Honest! ?)
  4. Just drove past MW, still no movement #updatetosaytheresnoupdate lol. Hopefully everyone else is also keeping a close eye on things ?
  5. Oh wait, I misread your post. I thought you said that the same track used to be 10 mins long, but is now only 2 mins ?The 10 min long version sounded more torturous for some reason, but yeah, I get now how a shorter version would do your head in a lot quicker ?
  6. Surprised it's only being addressed as an issue now. VRTP have never paid penalty rates for weekends (at least they didn't 15 years ago when I first worked for them, and they still didn't last year when I was there, either) and it's always been minimum wage. I've never worked at Dreamworld, but I've heard it's the same there as well. Tbh it never really personally phased me, as I've worked for worse companies for the same rate. Peeps do have the right to turn around and say no if they don't agree to the wage rate being offered. But yeah, just surprised that the union is only just kicking up a stink about it now, when it's been basically the same situation for so long. Kind of reminds me of the whole prayer room debacle lol.
  7. Haha yep. My husband (who isn't a MW fan as it is, he much prefers DW) groans every time it's on when we enter the park. Which is practically every time ? I can see that tourists probably wouldn't think twice about it, but for locals who visit the park regularly (and undoubtedly staff as well) it's like nails down a chalkboard! If the loop included other songs it wouldn't be so bad. 10 mins? Dear god....
  8. A: Yep. Both hubby and I remember it well, including the red eyes ? B: Yes, we also both remember (and rode it numerous times) in reverse cycle lol. C: Unsure, however there are similar versions of it doing the rounds as travelling show rides. This version was at the Gold Coast Show as the "Midnight Express" in 2015: The version below was at the GC show last year (2016) by a different rides mob. Their version was called The "Flash Dance", but was more simplified - didn't have a tunnel/cave or elevated floor like the others. Went both forwards and backwards, though: Hubby also says he has known the ride to be called the "Alpine Express" as well in the past. So seems there's a lot of different ones still around. Who knows, maybe Dreamworld's Avalanche is one of them? Wouldn't be the first time a former theme park ride has hit the road as a travelling show ride lol...
  9. "Hooray for Hollywood" at the front entrance to the park definitely takes the award for that. The creepy Scooby cartoon music? Haha I love it ? I wouldn't classify it as a 'song' though, as it has no lyrics. More like a soundtrack.
  10. You mean the one next to the Croc pit that used to lead up to the Chairlift? No activity that I could see today. Will keep an eye on things, though ?
  11. Driving out of the Movie World carpark today, I spotted the Hot Wheels Stunt team Mack truck parked down the back of the overflow area (near the M1). There were a couple of guys running around and I swear they appeared to be setting up props for something? Although I didn't get much time to work out what, possibly could have just been a figment of my imagination lol. Either way I thought it was interesting, especially being on Movie World's territory as I thought that Dreamworld held the licensing contract for the Hot Wheels brand ? Anyway, thought it was interesting enough to be worth a mention!
  12. Surveying work is now happening inside the Corroboree. Mr. Hi-Vis started off at the kangaroo enclosure, then moved the equipment over to the koala pen around the corner ?
  13. So hubby & I observed a few signs of activity happening down at the Rocky Hollow Log Ride this afternoon. The water pumps had been evidently switched on, as the fountains in the reservoir were running for the first time in months. There was water in the station trough, (although the rest of the track was still dry). The maintenance window at the top of the drop shed was open, suggesting that maintenance has been taking place up there in the past few days (it was closed previously). Definitely some activity happening in there at the moment, and hopefully an early indication that they plan to reopen the ride soon. Fingers crossed ☺️?
  14. Exactly my point. Thanks for the direct references.
  15. Has nothing to do with that at all, @Richard. If you think it has anything to do with fandom, then I believe you're mistaken. I'd write the same thing about any similar matter at a non-related venue. If something goes wrong at a restaurant (or even suspected to be out of the ordinary) then isn't it more decent to approach the restaurant directly about the situation and allow them to potentially fix it first? As opposed to taking directly to the public internet first with your concerns, and thus potentially tarnishing the reputation of the business before they have even had a chance to address and fix the problem? Why should theme parks be any different, especially ones such as Dreamworld who are already suffering from enough negativity?
  16. Wasn't intending to be patronising by all means. Just found it a little contradicting that you mentioned wanting to keep the issue out of the media's ear, yet made the decision to make a public internet conversation out of something which some may find particularly concerning - keeping in mind that not everyone that reads this forum is a theme park fan who understands how rides work. Dramatically titling the topic "Tower of Terror II oil spray on face" makes it even worse, and more likely to attract negative attention from unwanted sources. The media always finds a way to report about things without any direct correspondence with witnesses, just like when they recently reported about the new coaster track pieces arriving at Movie World as per the photoshopped images which were posted on here days prior. Needless to say they already have enough fuel to do full write-ups about Dreamworld without needing to address a singular issue. They would just add it to what they already have. Honestly if I were me, I would have awaited follow-up from Dreamworld before taking to the internet about it. Each to their own though, I guess...
  17. @willco You do realise that Parkz is a public forum that the media frequently use as a source of info for theme park articles, right? Any issue or news that's posted on here can potentially become the latest article in the Gold Coast Bulletin. I agree that your story could be very damaging toward their already ailing reputation if it is seen by the wrong pair of eyes. Such incidents I dare say may better off be kept within a private phone call between yourself and the park if you don't want it to be potentially used against them in any way.
  18. Lol. Skipping dinner to do live news coverage of a non-event. Jokes on them ???
  19. Lol! Don't get me started on the GCB ? I've already been banned from previously posting on the Courier Mail FB page. Apparently they don't take criticism about their theme park reporting methods as well as the others do lol ?
  20. I'm sure some of us would still be willing to brave the crowds to ride the brand new biggest rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere, chill out at the newly built Topgolf venue and whatever else is added in the wake of the upcoming games. Geez, I voluntarily stood in line for nearly an hour and a half during the Xmas peak period just to ride Scooby in its current state ? And was prepared to do the same for the DC Super-Villians Unleashed precinct, given it was originally advertised to open during the Sept holidays. That said, local visits would probably become more frequent post-games. But I'm sure there will be enough added to keep some locals still interested in attending in the meanwhile. This is the biggest upgrade we have seen to MW in a long time, so the excitement factor is at an all-time high right now ??
  21. Yeah, I'm the same. Have worked 3x over for VRTP over the past 15 years, including this year. Never ashamed to mention this fact either, if "the" question surfaces, as at least it indicates that we know a little bit about what we are talking about ??
  22. Not sure, but apparently GC businesses are expecting a lot more numbers because of it. Even the hotel I work at in Surfers Paradise is about to start refurbishing its rooms in anticipation of the event next year. Managers are talking very excitedly about it.
  23. Haha, ditto ?? And what's a bet it's only a matter of time before someone asks either of us if we work for the park? I come to expect it these days. Heaven forbid anyone ever defend anything they are knowledgeable and passionate about without having some kind of alterior motive ?
  24. That was my take on it too, @themagician... ToTII compared to the launch experience of a rocket, which makes sense to me. I can see similarities lol. Although probably more so from when it used to be forward facing ? But still relevant enough to make the comparison IMO ?
