Dreamworld Review 26 Mar 2016
Theme Park Girl replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
In my regular observations, it almost always reaches the top of the 'F' in 'OF' on average. Although sometimes it does go higher than that, especially with lighter loads. -
So I just stumbled across these videos on YouTube and wanted to share with you guys, as they have only been uploaded in the past couple of weeks ☺ Brought back a lot of fond memories for me, as I am sure they will for you all as well! Pretty much the entire Country Jamboree show at Dreamworld, filmed in 1990: Old 1996 footage of the SW Bermuda Triangle, including the entire pre-show briefing video, the revolving platform and also some footage of the Corkscrew: There are probably more around, if anyone finds any and wants to share, please post them here too? I know there have been videos shared previously in other topics, but thought it would be cool to run a new topic that we can post them all into the one place with Especially since there are new ones still surfacing today! I also have my own home video footage on VHS of Dreamworld in 1996, have been slack with backing it up but promise to do so as soon as I can, and as soon as I work out how to get it off of VCR format hahaha When I do, I will def upload and share on here ?

Hmm true, that. I suggested to them they hold off on their visit until at least a couple of weeks after our holidays end, since the other states still have theirs going after that and the parks keep being chaotic. Wouldn't be worth the 4 hour drive each way, only to spend their day standing around in queues ?
-
Hmm, I know it did for at least a year or so after it opened in 1998, as this was around the time I rode it. It would drop briefly, then hover for a split second or two before plunge the rest of the way down ? Only the hinterland side, though. The ocean side has always been a straight drop down as far as I am aware! Im glad someone else has mentioned it, as I remembered it doing that too, but had started to wonder if it was just a figment of my imagination hahaha. Obviously not ???

Any idea what Easter Mondays are like? I had friends planning to come down for the day from Kingaroy to spend the day at Movieworld, but now they are reconsidering it because they fear it will be too busy and queues will be too long. Oh, and they are worried the traffic will be too chaotic as well ?

Yes I realise that, Rappa. I have visited theme parks a lot over the years, whilst also working at one of them a couple of times ? Not necessary to point out, but I appreciate it anyway ? There's nothing new to report for Dreamworld at the moment that hasn't already been done so (ie. Ashley's post about the Easter stuff, which is mainly just extra street entertainment) so I am just making idle chit chat with other members here about the park. In this case, there isn't a lot of exciting stuff to discuss other than the breakdowns. Hopefully there will be more on the horizon to discuss once Tiger Island renos progress ☺ Lol you're probably asking the wrong person dude, I haven't been on it since my teenage years as I hate drop rides ? I do know what you're talking about though, as I experienced that same thing back then with the 'fake' drop before the full one on that particular side. As far as I am aware, it doesn't do that any more. At least it doesn't look like it does anyway, from what I have seen it's just a straight drop now!

Wipeout is up and running again like normal, that grinding noise it was doing great yesterday has gone! But am at WWW right now and the hinterland side of the Giant Drop has broken down lol. Carriage got stuck 3/4 of the way up, so they just dropped it from there and now they are manually winching the little drop thingy down ? So now they have the ocean side going instead. Geez it must be hard for theme parks to keep everything running smoothly when rides decide they don't wanna operate the way they are intended to ????

Just drove past WNW & Movieworld and their car parks weren't even full. So yeah it does look like it isn't too busy at the parks today, surprisingly enough!

Lmfao! I'm not too sure, the driver wasn't too specific, just said it was out of action. But he is apparently the same dude who operates the steam train. He confirmed with us how the old one comes out at the 1st weekend of each month (next Saturday for April btw, for those of you following along at home!) and he joked that if the diesel engine wasn't up and running again shortly then the steam one could very well be out that arvo as well ?

Hmm do you guys reckon it would be suicide if we attempted to take the kids to Dreamworld today?? I know from experience of working at Seaworld that Good Friday is an extremely busy day, but thought with maybe Dreamworld being a bigger park and it reported to be not too bad during the Xmas hols, it might not be TOO bad today compared to the other parks. We aren't expecting to go on many rides anyway, just walk around and do the animal experience and what not. We definitely are avoiding the VRTP lol. The other option was Burleigh Beach, but parking down there today would be a bitch. Everything else is pretty much shut so options are slim. Either Dreamworld or beach lol?

That's a plausible explanation, @Slick. Didn't think of that, and would make sense given it just came out of maintenance. It could very well be the reason for all the noise yesterday! I hope that's all it is/was ? I still worry for the old girl, though. I mean it has reportedly broken down at least 3 times since it reopened, including yesterday arvo for at least an hour, if not longer. Not a good sign, given her age ? Speaking of old rides, the log ride broke down just after we rode on it as well, got off and were walking down that path where the boats float past, only to hear the female attendant making an announcement (something I think about bout the ride alarm being tripped?) for the people in the ramp tunnel not to panic and to sit tight, as someone would be there shortly to assist them. Another visitor we chatted to not long before that claimed that the River Rapids broke down that morning, and the diesel train had done so as well when we went to jump on it at the station earlier that morning lol. Although it was up and running again not too long afterwards. So yeah, not a good start to the Easter holidays for Dreamworld lol.

Lol Brad. Join the club ? Gee you'd think it common sense that they would be upgrading it, not removing it altogether, given they just removed the skyway. So obviously a heck of a lot more traffic going over the bridge now than before.
-
Usually it automatically merges them? But it didn't this time round. The edit option disappears after a while anyway, plus the forum wouldn't give anyone a heads up that new content has been added to an existing post. Chances are people aren't going to re-read posts they already previously have seen, so that would only be a waste of time really.

Lol maybe... or perhaps they finally caught on that it really shouldn't be making loud grinding noises like that during parts of its cycle I've played my video back since coming home and its hard to hear over all the typical riders screaming, but you'll have to take my word for it that it wasn't a good sound, and definitely not part of the normal noises it makes. Seriously, I love the Wipeout, but even I wasn't game enough to go on it today. Hopefully maintenance fix whatever the issue is, even if it means more downtime again (which would suck for them, given that its Easter holidays starting tomorrow) but better to be safe than sorry!

Wtf... At Dreamworld atm, the Wipeout is back up and running again, but it's making some really loud creaking noises from its right arm whilst in operation. Doesn't sound healthy at all ?? Will try and record it to see what you guys think ? 20160324_112531.mp4 You can hear it in this cycle, was even worse in the previous one ???

Lol yeah, had forgotten about that If they want to run a theme park Facebook page then by all means, it just annoys me that they run it under the guise of an official page by posting up park opening hours, running promotions etc, when they act in an otherwise unprofessional manner ie. deleting posts and sharing news from other sources without giving due credit. The amount of typos alone in half of their posts is enough to make a dictionary want to commit suicide, I dunno how many times I have posted correcting them because they can't spell basic words properly, or know the difference between 'there' and 'their', or 'to' and 'too'. Seriously ? Honestly they should have their page clearly marked as a fan page or an unofficial source, it seems a lot of their naive followers are under the impression that Movieworld runs the page when they don't and take everything they say as gospel ???
