What's your favourite Coaster?
Theme Park Girl replied to AUSTHEMEPARKS's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Please spare a thought for those of us who haven't been fortunate enough to travel overseas and ride other worthy rollercoasters yet lol Honestly, I enjoy it more than any other coaster I've ridden on. It's more thrilling than all the other GC coasters in more ways than one (suspended instead of carriage, more inversions, tight twists and turns) and whilst it doesn't have a rapid launch like some of its rivals, it certainly makes up for that with the ride experience. Outside of the GC coaster offering I have only ridden the wild mouse at Aussie World and the Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Melbourne, but whilst iconic (particularly the latter) they are both too old and rough to really be considered an enjoyable ride. Sadly the other ones I have experienced - Thunderbolt & Corkscrew - no longer exist. So really it comes down to the ones at the current theme GC parks, and to me, Arkham/LW wins hands down. Personal choice at the end of the day. Everybody has their own preferences as to what they enjoy and what they don't -
Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition

New 4D movie on the way... got an exclusive VIP screening invite for it last night. About time they got rid of that Rio one. Nothing worse than having to watch recycled footage from the movies, in poorly done 3D. Now we just have to hope they upgrade the motion experience as well in near future. Those chairs aren't exactly a smooth ride anymore ? ETA: On another note, anyone else remember and miss the original 4D short film they played when MW first opened in the 90's? I remember it being one where two kids visiting the Hollywood Warner Bros. studios and are in a tour group with their family, anyway they sneak out of it and into a sound stage filled with props etc. They find a special machine which magically transports them into different classic movie scenarios, including some B&W golden oldies like "Dial M for Murder" etc. It had a mind blowing 3D part at the end where coloured parrots used to fly out of the screen, you'd see everyone in the cinema reaching up trying to grab them. WHY oh WHY don't they screen anything like that anymore??? Original filmed stuff, instead of the crummy recycled movie footage they use now?? And the special effects were a lot more believable back then as well. -

Lethal Weapon/Arkham Asylum is my fave. Ridden it 105 times since it opened in 1995 lol! Love its design with the barrel rolls and partial loop. So much fun -
Scooby Doo has been closed for annual maintenance for the past couple of weeks, due to reopen on the 21st. So it's anyone's guess what's going on in there lol. Although I question how Scooby can operate normally queue wise if there is a scare maze inside the castle area?

Dreamworld welcomes new baby tiger
Theme Park Girl replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This totally made my day today!!! The Tiger handlers had Kai in the glass display area between Tiger Island and Kung fu Panda land (where they have previously displayed the dingo pups) and were filming footage of him for a TV ad or doco or something. There was quite a crowd around the enclosure. Anyway, one of the handlers was accepting onlooker's cameras/phones over the top of the glass barrier and taking close-up photos and video of Kai on their behalf. I offered him my phone. This is what was filmed and returned to me.... -
Well, I'm booked in for my first ever Fright Nights experience, going for Halloween (Oct 31st). Yay! Going with a couple of workmates. Excited and nervous... I feel like I know what to expect, but then also that I don't. If that makes any sense ???

Anyone know why the new annual passes (non-unlimited) are 'VIPP' passes? I have friends up from Melbourne who bought some - the flimsy coloured ones - and was trying to work out what the new extra "P" stands for on each of theirs. My old seaworld boss claims it means they are the monthly ones, but turns out that theory is wrong, as our friends said they paid outright for them. That and I know the hard plastic Unlimited ones are monthly ones. Its probably something really obvious but I cant work it LOL!

Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced

Geez that Storm coaster breaks down a lot. Was there today from 11am-5pm and it broke down TWICE... once for about 40 mins in the morning, and then a good half hour in the afternoon. They had mechanics up on the track in the brake sections, so am guessing that's what was wrong with it :/

Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced
Theme Park Girl replied to Cooper Olsen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lots of mechanics doing test runs of the new kiddy coaster today. Looks like it's not far off completion. They just have to get the other rides finished off now, and get the new show up and running (Dora one is done and dusted, it's closed and barricaded off as well now) and they will be all ready to open the new area -

One could ask the same thing about the Triceratops, given its still in there ? And ironically all the jungle animals before that ? -

Nah its a scenario now with the bandits (as per the wanted posters of them around the queue areas) that's in the first cave. Life-sized characters being hung upside down and calling for help. It takes up a lot of room so fairly certain there's no longer any Rex in there ? -
The Tower of Terror tower has gotten some TLC in the past few days... drove past Dreamworld tonight after 9pm on the way home from the airport, and the cylinder up the top of the pole has a nice new band of colour changing LED lights. You can easily spot the pole from a fair distance away now. When we drove to Brisbane airport at 4am Friday morning it had just been the usual tiny blinking red light up top. The new lights definitely look a lot more interesting ☺

PS. Turns out it wasn't Ken, but a top bloke named Jason. Just as entertaining. Gotta love enthusiastic staff, adds that extra bit of enjoyment to one's day ?

Rocky Hollow Flume Dinosoaurs?
Theme Park Girl replied to lessofkess's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well that would explain it... we've had our passes since the beginning of the year, so I was sure I hadn't missed anything in that time. It would've had to have been older event than that. I 'm guessing it's been a while since the OP visited Dreamworld last. -
I think we had Ken working on the TOTII today... got an epic custom launch experience, hahaha. Check it out
