DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Here's some piccies from my visit today. Lots of working happening on the lift hill ☺️ -
That's not what I'm doing at all, though. I'm simply using Disney as an example as why I believe that the park changing their direction back to their roots is a good idea, given that Disneyland is the park they originally based Dreamworld around. And why I also agree that reopening more of their old family rides (along with the rebuild of a old one), improving their current areas, adding new experiences and doing everything they currently have planned AS A WHOLE is a great prospective for the park. Speaking as someone who visits Dreamworld on a weekly basis, witnesses visitors reactions first hand, overhears their opinions and regularly speaks to staff about numerous aspects, I don't believe the reason why attendances are down is because they don't have new rollercoaster plans to boast about. It's actually because half of their current attractions are closed, some of them for long periods of time. They need to get back on their feet, reopen and improve on what they have before they look at adding anything new. That alone will bring people back. They can focus on bigger stuff later 👍

Just to further what AlexB has said, last year DC Super-Villians Unleashed advertised an October opening all year round, only for it to open officially during the September school holidays. Anything is possible. They likely just go with adding an extra month as insurance against any unexpected issues that may arise last minute 👍 -
Lol... you do realise that Dreamworld was based on Disneyland to begin with, right? Family rides, vintage charm and lush gardens etc.... all Disney inspired. If the market has allegedly changed, then why do Disneyland parks remain the most popular chain in the world?? No offense but I think you need to pull your head out a bit, POP.... Dreamworld aren't going to make a comeback taking the Six Flags approach right now. They are looking at the best of the best for inspiration, which appeals to ALL ages and generations, not just the thrillseekers. And good on them, I say 👍

100% agree with this, and I completely disagree with the concept of Dreamworld adding a major rollercoaster or thrill ride of any time at this still early stage of their recovery. After seeing the list of what they have. planned for the remainder of the year, I think it's fantastic that, after nearly two decades of Dreamworld focusing on exhilarating rides (ie. building up their "Big" thrill ride repertoire), they are finally going back to their roots to explore and resurrect various aspects of the park that made everyone fall in love with them to begin with. Anyone who knew the "old" Dreamworld back in the 80's and early 90's would know that "big, fast, twisty, full circuit record breaking rollercoasters" weren't really their forte at all. sure, they did have one of those on offer with the Thunderbolt, but the whole theme of the park was mainly focused around family rides and creating a vintage, natural look park wide. This is essentially what people loved about Dreamworld, especially compared to other parks during this timeframe. It had a certain charm to it that no other gold coast theme park could match. It's no secret that the incident last year has made guests more cautious toward Dreamworld's rides as a whole and, subsequently, it appears to me that their managers have acknowledged that the path to recovery isn't to focus on building more thrill rides that people aren't going to immediately warm to, given the circumstances. Instead they are taking the path of appealing to people's nostalgia and planning to bring back old favourite family rides (Log Ride, Vintage Cars, even the Mine Ride), refurbishing the original wildlife and indigenous areas, and focusing on introducing new memorable experiences that leave lasting memories as opposed to (quote) "momentary exhilaration" ie. the definition of thrill rides. Personally I think that Dreamworld are taking a huge step in the right direction with these future plans. Thrill rides can come later down the track once they have managed to completely win everyone's hearts and trust back, and essentially restore their original daily park numbers once more. But now is definitely not that time. Fact. (😛) Just my 2c, take it or leave it. But that's how I feel 👍

Essentially it's Batman Vs Joker at heart, with a few other heroes & villians thrown in for good measure. -

Given they allowed media inside the construction compound to take photos of the track up close and what not for most of the afternoon, I'd say very little. They will likely pick up where they left off tomorrow. -

Personally I love the DC Rivals name. I think it's very official, easy to remember and summarises the coaster's overall theme very well, especially since they have had to work with what they originally had organised (ie. Suicide Squad themed). Its a first class name for a first class coaster 👍 And I definitely think they have made a great choice avoiding making it a "Bizarro" themed coaster. Thank God for that - sorry to those of you who were convinced that's what it would be, but really would have been a terribly obscure theme to run with 😮😑 -
Yeah I agree, I think the topic should be reopened as well. And meh, if you watch my live video on my blog when I first saw the track colour in person, I did refer to it as fucshia. It was the colour ID website thingy that added the 'pink' bit (no pun intended) lol. So I still called it and I intend to gloat over at least getting that part right haha 😜

So with the official announcement about the Hyper due to be made public at noon today... who's excited??? 😁 About time, I say! ☺️👍 -
Not really. I attended the one at MW last year and as you can see from my pics below, the majority of attendees were teenagers and young adults. Not many kids in sight. Having the party restricted to the kid's rides would not work, as most would be too big for them.

New Night Parade for Movie World.
Theme Park Girl replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, she's been there for a few weeks now. As for the new parade, I'm sure more will be revealed very, very soon... probably sooner than we think, given the school holidays are only a couple of weeks away 😁😉👍 -

Haha. We've learnt that the wifi signal for their mobile pass scanning devices has been an ongoing issue. A few times now we've had dramas having ours scanned at the Lego store entrance apon arriving, only to be sent to the front gate and manually looked up on the system because they then claim "maximum entries exceeded". It's suspected because of the dodgy wifi signal that passes are being double scanned by accident. Wouldn't surprise me if that's why they decided not to bother that day! -

Dreamworld Night Events Return
Theme Park Girl replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, just to further what @Reanimated35 shared above, I contacted Dreamworld directly last night asking about that. I was assured in the response that I would get an email about it and to 'stay tuned' ☺️ So yeah, it does appear to be the replacement night event for Screamworld and I do believe that membership holders will get free entries to it as part of their usual included benefits 👍 -
Dreamworld's Stormtrooper Weekend 2017
Theme Park Girl replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well done to the 501st Legion and Dreamworld for another awesome annual event. Despite my family and I not being able to stay for long due to work commitments, we still had a great time today as always ☺️ The turnout today crowd wise was fabulous. Inside the park was clearly thriving and the carpark was nearly full when we left around 1pm. It was a great feeling to see it so busy, probably the busiest yet in my attendances since it reopened in Dec last year 😊 One thing, though... it seems Disney have come down hard on Dreamworld/501st Legion in regards to what they can and can't use for the event? Either that or they just didn't go bring in as many props this year 😕 There was definitely a lack of photobooths... last year they had the x2 speeder bikes, the trash compactor, the life-sized limited edition figurine box, as well as the four basic backdrops. Today however, there was just the latter and one x1 speeder bike. This was my only complaint, being a bit disappointed as I really loved the ones which had props to pose with. Otherwise we still had a great time, and I certainly can't diss anything that's run for such a good cause ❤️ Hopefully there will be more again next year ☺️ PS. Did anyone else happen to spot Chewbacca at all? I swear I didn't see him at all today, including during the parade. Dunno if I missed him, or if he just wasn't there 🤔 -
