I actually really like the carpark at USO. I think we could pull that off at MW/WnW if it was designed around some sort of shopping district, plenty of greenery and a nice courtyard out front of MW.- 499 replies

Can provide no input other than I am going to be reading this very thoroughly as I am going over hopefully next year. The park I most want to hit is Movie Park Germany, just to see what Movie World would have looked like if it expanded differently.

Yeah true, I haven't ridden MDMC in a while but I don't remember it being as bad as Scooby's drops. Argh, I hate those. As said before, SDSC wins out on the theming. I'd say it gets a no.6 slot with proper theming. But coaster alone, it's pretty meh.
-
I agree it's probably not what many would agree with. But I favour short and fun coasters over those that are uncomfortable. Scooby for its drops that really can be quite harsh. If you add back in the theming on Scooby, it's up there, but right now that's in limbo... Not to gloat, but I've ridden quite a few coasters overseas so I've definitely experienced all sorts of coasters that are forceful, fun, thrilling, conformable and not so much. I have little patience for coasters that I deem uncomfortable.
-
I'm not going to rank every coaster, but here's my top 10 (ranking not set in stone): Superman Jet Rescue Abyss Green Lantern Storm Coaster Hot Wheels Tower of Terror Surfrider Mick Doohan Scooby Doo (for ride itself; theming gets it a few spots higher)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. Aussie World is a true gem and I can't wait for them to expand.

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
BNErider replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've done both and from memory they do not stand out as rough. Of course, things can change in 5-6 years so who knows how they're riding now. But both parks are pretty good with their upkeep on coasters so I wouldn't be surprised if their coasters are running as good as can be. -
Themed Areas you'd like to see in our Parks?
BNErider replied to ThemeTendo's topic in Theme Park Discussion
For DW, I've been thinking about what could replace TRRR/EMR, and I reckon a big B&M dive coaster painted a rusty brown would work a treat. And perhaps to keep guests cool in summer, yet appear more "safe", a splash battle ride around the B&M. I know it's likely to never happen, but it would be perfect. -

Now that we've seen Scooby, I guess your post is starting to make a lot of sense. -

I also saw the Fire Machine tonight and thought it was great. Not amazing, but a solid addition and I'm sure everyone who saw it enjoyed it and was impressed. I agree about that obnoxious loud noise - that needs to go. It was real disappointing seeing how quiet the park was this afternoon/tonight. I just hope it picks up in the coming days! -
Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopening [Dec 26, 2016]
BNErider replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
By the way, do the walls still line the station and queue? I'm assume the walls didn't meet code because they were around a *ride*?- 202 replies

2016 and the year our Parks would rather forget
BNErider replied to MickeyD's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, I agree. I think with the exception of SW (maybe?) most things are out of everyone's controls. I definitely feel this year has been a bit of a dud overall for the theme park industry on the Coast, and hope we can see bigger and brighter things eventuate next year. I really feel sorry for those who have saved and planned to come holiday on the Coast over the Christmas break. -
I really enjoyed Mako. I was lucky enough to re-ride plenty. I think I rode it about 25 times on my last trip. My favourite type of coasters are ones filled with airtime, and Mako was pretty great in that department. A bit meh after the MCBR, and the trims hit pretty hard. The seats are amazing, and you can really keep your lap-bar loose to enjoy that great floater airtime! The fly into the MCBR was weird, as I was still in the air and would almost hit the lap-bar midair. I met up with a few friends who live in the States and have about 350 credits. Mako for them ranks in the top 10 for similar coasters (I believe), but not "amazing". I've done a lot of coasters on a TPR trip in 2010, including the two Intimidators. From memory Mako is far from the best, but a solid coaster for airtime and my favourite one from this year. I plan on doing a big coaster trip next year, so will be interesting to compare with Mako.

Lucky you. It seems that coaster is hard to catch at the best of times!

Is the Crazy Mouse AW is adding the same as the one at the EKKA?

Great topic idea @pin142 Here's mine in a rough order: Mako (SeaWorld Orlando) Cheetah Hunt (Busch Gardens Tampa) Shakira (Busch Gardens Tampa) White Lightning (Fun Spot Orlando) Duelling Dragons (either side) (Islands of Adventure) Ghost Rider (Knotts Berry Farm) The Mummy (Universal Studios Florida) Superman Escape (Movie World) Excelerator (Knotts Berry Farm) Manta (Sea World Orlando)

Have done the Christmas buffet for the last two years (haven't gone yet this year). Well worth the money. Pre-paid last year and sat in the Legends dining room. Huge let down due to atmosphere. Do it right and sit in Ricks if you can.

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
BNErider replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Do you think the thrill rides are shut because of PR reasons, cost reasons, or they are finishing off some safety checks (perhaps their internal one)? Either way, I kind of think it looks bad to see the park reopen with so few rides. It gives the illusion that the rides weren't safe enough to open imo. -

Thanks for that @Jamberoo Fan. While sucky for the residents, if VRTP do indeed own the land then the residents should not be surprised that the park wants to make use of their land. In terms of noise from the M1, I was recently looking at some LA hotels and one hotel was literally RIGHT NEXT TO an elevated highway. Probably 50m back. A lot closer than Movie World's hotel would ever be. I'm not sure what market they're going to try and capture, but I wouldn't imagine noise from that distance would be overly hard to overcome with some good sound insulation inside. After all, I've stayed at the Hilton LAX plenty of times and the noises from the runways are much worse than the M1, IMO. Plus pretty much any CBD hotel has a similar problem (if not worse, seeing as highways are a more constant background hum).- 499 replies

I'm not sure what the land in question is technically classed as at the moment, but I live next to a large piece of land that is used as a makeshift park (as it is situated next to a waterway/dog track) and is owned by the government. I'm not sure what the Kopps Rd block would be classed as, or what the outlook is like, but a lot of properties around here make great use of our makeshift park and have their backyards 'open' to enjoy the views. If the Kopps Rd location is currently operating as a park or community space, I can definitely see where the residents are coming from. If it is private land or is not being used as community space, I think they shouldn't stand in the way of progress, barring any objections from noise/light/traffic perspectives. Either way, as a theme park enthusiast, I am excited about the proposed development.- 499 replies

Spoke too soon. My park kept crashing. It only started after I added the monorail (hopefully that can help anyone else who is having similar issues).
-
Rode WWF yesterday. Seemed all of the effects were wayyy off time. I also noticed some strobe lights at the top of the final drop - are they new? A simple fog machine + strobes would be a welcome addition up there.

Mine just crashed for the first time (except initially when any old saves would crash). Played it for about 17 hours since launch. lol.
