  1. To be honest, I'd love to see the entire section out back converted to a dark ride section. Lots of opportunities to add something really awesome, especially with lighting effects and fog/haze.
  2. Great pictures @Theme Park Girl! I'm glad steel frames for more facades are starting to appear in the blank areas. Honestly, they've done such an amazing job with great level of detail. I really hope they finish it off well and add some interactive elements to the city buildings. Perhaps down the track they could remove the Gotham City Cafe and add something else there, because we've got such a great DC Comics area now and a bit of variety can only help the park.
  3. There are a lot of blank spaces around the showstage. Do you think they're just keeping those areas free for access while they do something to the SS, or are we likely to just get some plants/fences in those areas?
  4. I reckon it would be cool if they continued the mountain of Wild West Falls and had some sort of mine train/dark ride combo. That would be cool. It wouldn't be a huge thrill ride but would be a great addition with some great theming possibilities.
  5. ^ Must be some sort of up-charge express dining/meal plan option. Interesting that it's very Village-heavy on the branding.
  6. I'm worried. That facade seems like it should be an impressive courthouse or something. If that's the scale they're working on, then the rest of the facades won't be much.
  7. See, I think the problem with overworked DC tie-ins is that people are getting a bit used it to. It's no longer exciting - IMHO. For example, Superman and Batman are strong brands and they were the first of the DC rides. But now there's Green Lantern, Doomsday, Arkham, JL, Green Landern, Batman, Superman... I just think it is going to start being less and less exciting and 'new'. I don't see Doomsday being a strong pull to the park. Definitely agree that Mad Max was a lost opportunity for something great.
  8. Thanks @reanimated35. Yes, silly me - they looked HUGE in the first photo but obviously just from the angle of the camera.
  9. What are those big green things on the left hand side of the first photo? Seems like our first bit of theming.
  10. Lol, that's honestly funny. What the heck! Maybe they should try the Rugs a Million closing down trick next?
  11. Probably Bermuda Triangle for Australia's best dark ride ever. Though, Justice League is pretty damn amazing and is probably one of the best ever in terms of theming alone. The static cars lets it down
  12. I think a really well themed LR would be great. But make it big enough to actually act like a transport option, not just a small stand alone attraction. I don't think it would draw people to the park, but by theming it right could really compliment the park's recent efforts of creating a themed environment. Plus, for a thrill/water park like Adventure World, this is the perfect transport option.
  13. TBH, I think this is a short term cash grab due to the monthly plans taking a hit to revenue. It also helps free up space at the night-time events and locals are more likely to fork out $$$$ for these events because they're "special".
  14. Great looking area, especially considering it's only a temp attraction. Just wish there was a tad more shade for spectators
  15. I think the hole *could* be the floor which could lower so people don't chop their feet off when the ride is running? Re the speakers, are you talking about the black ones that are on the side of the SDSC building and on some light poles towards Dirty Harry? If so, those have been there for a while (well and truly before any of this started).
  16. That might be why. It seems the problem is the wetness of the floors, which I always thought was from the sinks.
  17. Here's another one. A lot of times when I visit Movie World and to a lesser extent Dreamworld, the toilets are filthy. I mean filthy. Wet and muddy floors are the biggest thing I find wrong. I visit a lot in the afternoons, so whether this has anything to do with it. I know it's very much based on timing, but can't they commit to more regular checkups?
  18. Around the windows and on some other sections there are still the rope lights installed.
  19. I didn't think the facade/window lights are used during Carnivale? I agree that they may be used for events, but it shouldn't take away from the park's main purpose: a themed environment for its day-time operations. You may think it's being overly critical, but I don't think it's fair to shoot down other people's opinions in a thread like this.
  20. Yeah, I am serious. I have almost come to terms with the icicle lights on the roof, but now they're leaving lights up around the facade windows/fixtures. I believe this is the first year they've left those up.
  21. C'mon Movie World, take down the rest of the Christmas lights. They look tacky I know they're sometimes used for events, but they really bug me.
  22. Thanks for the info skeetafly, it's great to have someone here who knows so much in terms of developments and planning.
  23. I've been thinking hard and don't know if a woodie would be seen as a "great" ride in Australia. I have all these visions of people without a clue posting on Facebook how Movie World is building an "old" ride. I'm not sure if it'd be as marketable as, say, a 60m tall steel coaster. Just my 2c. I also think it's going to be a movie theme that's more relatable and modern than any Westerns. I could see Mad Max, but that's not a western and would require a re-theme to slightly adjust its surrounds (if it's build around the sound stage area/behind SCSC). I do secretly hope we're seeing a dark ride/coaster hybrid but in that case we'd be seeing some more DAs, yes? I'm actually surprised we're not seeing more anyway, unless the one for the coaster can include many sub-items like moving sheds and adding them?
  24. I didn't take any photos backstage. But there wasn't much to see, I just walked in the door between Stars/Movie Memorabilia and there was a little office behind Roxy where I signed some forms. I then entered the back of the Roxy pre-show room and worked in and out of the main Roxy Theatre, and also on Main St. It was cool because I love theme parks, not because there was actually anything interesting back there!
